      Should catch some on bottom in the shallows right now in wire nets. Catfish against the bank right now, and will move back to deep water after the spawn. Good luck!!

In my opinion, there's no better fish than opps no matter how you fix em. Your videos are good enough to make the viewers feel like they're right there with you. Cheers - Roy

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Рік тому +1

      Their is no bait. Those fish are either going in their to spawn or feed on perch. Once one goes in, sometimes several more do. What you don't see is 8 out of 10 nets may not even have a fish. Then sometimes, they just fill up. It's hot and miss

    One question! Why not untie the tail line? Way easier

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Рік тому

      Not way easier for us. Our flew lines tie out in the tail of the nets. The way we build them the tension on the tail line is what holds the throat open and makes it catch. I know some store bought hoop nets may have draw strings back there, but I can probably dump those fish quicker than fooling with untying and retying a draw string. Our wire nets are different, because the throats tie to side so we use a drawstring in them

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Рік тому

      That tail line is also dipped in tar. Those knots are not coming untied. In one of my net build videos you can see I put a lot of hitches in there to hold that tension on the catch throat

    How many flatheads are you allowed?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Рік тому +1

      In Louisiana were allowed 100 catfish in aggregate on a Recreational license. However if your commercial there is no limit. They have to be longer than 14 inches.

Can you tell me sir or miss…are there other types of fish you catch regularly in God’s country besides these catfish because they are not very tasty to me and have that soil smell/after taste? Can you catch blue fin tuna, Salmon or Barracuda’s in these ponds? Do you have any alternative recipes besides deep fried sir/miss? Is catfish sushi dangerous?

    If 1 fish going in causes others to go in as well,why would you not leave 1 in the net.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  9 місяців тому

      If you leave one in, there is a danger of them dying left in too long. They will also eventually be all skint up. I've heard of people doing that, but it's just not something I've done. Some say leave the female. Well, if she lays out in a hoop net, I highly doubt the eggs will hatch out

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638

    Nothing against these people but this is one of the reasons why cat fishing with poles is getting harder and harder to catch nice size fish.and alot of people like this will sell the big cats to pay lakes.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Рік тому +4

      "people like this", you got no idea about people like this. People like this feed themselves and help educate others on how to do the same. If you live near pay lakes, you live no place near us🤣🤣🤣. We in the south man. Most people in these parts just like us. A pay lake loose money down here cause we can feed ourselves. Your squabble with pay lakes ain't with us🤣🤣🤣

      Pole fishermen blame commercial fishermen when they can't catch any fish. The reason you're not catching is because when a catfish gorges himself , he's not interested in food. He may lay there for a week digesting what he's eaten , similar to a snake. When they do feed, it's not for long as it doesn't take but a few minutes to get a belly full of shad or other fish. Pole fishing is hit and miss and you have to be in the right place at the right time. We commercial fish the MS River heavily from KY on down toward Memphis and there are more catfish than there have ever been , especially 80 to 100 pounders. I've never seen anything like it. Many of these are turned loose repeatedly all year. You will catch more trophy size fish where it is commercially fished because they don't have as much competition for food. I could take Pole fishermen in my boat at certain times of the year and blow their minds as to what is there. They are so thick in Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay , that they're destroying the native species of fish and crabs and there's a bounty on blue cat.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  10 місяців тому +2

      People just get jealous because they can't catch. Look what's happening now with the crappie industry. People gonna always blame someone else for their shortcomings, when they'd be better off just enjoying what they do

    Very nice haul! For a couple of years right before I was a teen we'd run to the Mississippi on Saturday and go out with a commercial fisherman, that was originally from my hometown, and run his jugs right below lock and dam 19. He'd of been well satisfied with that harvest.
    I asked a local FWC Officer about why metal trapping isn't allowed in the river I live on, he didn't even know it wasn't. He pulled it up and read it, didn't know why it was there, and said he'd get back with me about it. He knew of 3 that did but said he wasn't going to do anything about it because the long time Officers never had. I'm finishing the one I'd started.
