There needs to be a law stating that citizens must stay back so many feet from fire scenes and not to interfere with the duties of the firefighters. This is not only for the safety of the citizens but to ensure complete safety for the firefighters.

Same for assault/battery of an EMS provider or Nurse. Rarely see any jail time. Even when we're significantly injured by a patient.

This happens often in Manhattan. I think its just because its so crowded and so many things happen very close together. You'll have the one building on fire and on the building right next door to it you'll have people coming in and out of work like any normal day...
It's a public street. Anywhere in America you have the right to walk right up into the thick of it if it's on a public street. Unless they specifically block it off or ask you to leave. And in some cases all they can do is ask.
This would never be allowed in the UK. All surrounding buildings and the general public would be evacuated from the area to allow the firefighters to do their job and also for health and safety reasons.

Everyone was out of the house (watching us of course) truck crew goes spits, and goes to work. One of the tents yells at the engine crew's. He proceeded to tell the engine captain that it was his house and no one was going in unless he went in. Now, mind ya. At this point flames are rolling out the door. The captain tells him twice to back up out of his way. The tenet, gets pissed and said. I told you if ,I don't go in know, no one does. Mined you also the captain has a truck crew inside doing there jobs and the yelled for water and help. The captain. Grab the tent and pushed him through the front door ( witch he ran right back out of). The engine crew performed there Job to a T that night. I say this one time and one time only. Because, it's happened to me in a small college town. If you impede me,from doing my job. I will turn you on to BBQ
