I bought a "Open Box" New Republic Sonomas for $33 earlier this week. At that point I could buy 15 of them at the price of one common project chelsea, and swap them out whenever they get dirty. Insane.
$500 for a suede crepe sole Chelsea boot?? Man, Common Projects is BS. That price on that boot comes across as straight up disrespectful to their customers. It's like a slap to the face. I mean, I would never, ever buy the CP Achilles Low sneaker, but at least you can say that it's a good quality shoe (though I'd still never buy it. I'd get one of the less expensive but still very nice white sneaker options instead). But $500 for that boot is outrageous. Common Projects is basically just flipping off all their customers. Good on you, Billy, for directing people away from this foolishness. 👍
I think that Astorflex has a tan suede option over at END! Tan suede and a tan elastic. If you want something higher quality than the Sonomas but cheaper than the Common Projects, I think that the Astorflex version is pretty good. Only difference is that it has a pretty wide toe-box, which may or may not be good. Taft also has a tan suede chelsea boot with a leather sole. But the New Republic Sonomas are still a fine choice.
At 500 I'd say Carmina, Crockett and Jones, TLB or even Cheaney are better options than RMs if quality -price is what you're looking form. RMs if you really like that special look. Else I'd also recommend Meermin if you don't mind breaking them in, they end up molding pretty well and they are a sleek tank.
@@BootSpyGi Bootsoy, I want to tell you something. Neither boots is perfect William. For $100 or less you cannot beat that but it's a value boot if you're on a budget.
I picked me up a pair of New Republic Sonomas and they're great for what they are! I get tons of compliments when I wear them. Thanks for shedding some light on these boots, I never knew they even existed until you brought them up in one of your last videos.
5:09 ... mmm! Nice boots! Love the Cavalier Sandstone , although they are more of a "almond' color, which is what I'm chasing anyway. Sandstone leans more toward a yellow color.
I’m trying to find a all black Chelsea suede boot. Thursdays don’t have it. They have the grey cavilliAr but that’s it. I’ll pay 150-200. Any recommendations? I wear a 8 in sneakers
Yes William and so is their sneakers way overpriced...! Buy a pair of Beckett Simonon for a third the price...! And Beckett Simonon runs sales and just had a sale on the Reids for $99... Also have worn Clarks with real rubber crepe soles and it's the same thing, look dirty after one wear....Another nice video buddy...GG...IN.... PS William,... You sure are right about rolling your jeans at the bottom over those light colored suede boots, because you will have dark navy dye all over those boots and it's impossible to get it out..!
I have three pairs of new Republic boots different colors, black, tan, and sand color I've paid 99.00 each from Amazon and they are very beautiful shoes

Great video! 👍 Companies like CP need to be called out when they take advantage of their customers.

You can't even walk through a river in your common projects...
@@BootSpy Lol. I was hoping to see you dunk those things in the creek, but I knew it wasn't likely.

Glad you found the review video!
@@BootSpy Hi Bootspy, love the Crepe Sole and I think it's a dandy. Ply reply.
I guess common projects are not GYW, it looks like a Blake stitch, and for that price... well for sure will take another options.

like others have mentioned... the common projects are NOT goodyear welt. They are blake stitched. the common projects don't even have a faux welt.
Glad to have that correction here
My man. Thanks for the video
