  • Filmed in January, 2021. Middle of that month. So, just under two years ago.
Through the saw building process, I've made a few great friends. One of whom works at a shop. I was entrusted to use this "mo-chine" in various "gnawing" activities. This was the first instance in a tree. Literally the first outing to the point of I started it for the 1st time that day.
This is the same "strip" where I was using my 2100, a stock 500i & the Franken 500i - seen here testing the 2nd gen 500i MaxFlow® cover assembly in prototype white, a 572 with a 38" bar, my 181/281 hybrid with a 42"er, my 481 Torque Monster, etc.
I had properly "did" Mr. "outinthewood" s 500i ~ 8 months prior. I had a fair amount of time to saw test it at varying elevations (800 to 4300 feet). It can be seen in a number of the 500i videos on this channel. I ran it with stock filtering. I used it to test the early version Max-Flow® system and provide feedback to Mr. Max-Flow for some of the minor tweaks.
There is some dialog in this session. I talk about the way this Husky runs. At that juncture, the nomenclature (number designation) was unknown. There was a lot of speculation, read rumor mill, going on all over the internet. I knew the bore size from the cylinder notation. I knew it was the replacement for the 395. I had worked backward with the calculator to get a reasonable stroke to arrive ~ the 91 (38mm) to 94cc (40mm) displacement.
Anyhoo, since this was a prototype I was hopeful that is was on the longer side stroke wise. Turns out, it has a 39mm stroke.
I will stand by my thoughts mentioned. For a purely stock saw that was the best running one I've had meathooks on.
At the time of your viewing this, I may, or may not, be immediately available for custom saw modifications. I am booked out several months regularly. If you are interested in having a saw zipped, please shoot me an email. That is the best, first point of contact.

Belated, sorry. Best wishes to all for the 2023 experience. Let us hope & pray for more since and sensibility in the coming year. Less fervor and therefore, by default, sanity...
Blessing to all and thanks for watching.
    Supplemental:
IMPORTANT - there seems to be some confusion revolving around this saw & the associated timeline. I thought it is fairly well qualified in the description. Seems as though few read that area. To bad...

Those 592s modified pull like freight trains from what I’ve seen, and for stockers they aren’t exactly struggling. Huskies are known for being heavy but they have a lot of torque and cut speed. Lol on getting the tape stuck, I thought I was the only one that could do things like that. 😆

      390s are less than 88cc. The 592s are over 92cc. 87.9 & 92.7 rounding. The 395 & 592 are the comparable saws.

Hi Jack, I look forward to hearing more on your testing of this saw. Especially what you find to be the ideal bar to balance this saw. I see you are running one of your Oregon light bars on this saw, did Husqvarna send this one with a 24" x-tough light bar or a longer one and were you able to run your choice of fuel/mix in this test saw?

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Рік тому +1

The Stihl LW 34.5" bar. Read 36", but it technically doesn't measure 3 feet. That's the 119 driver .375 bar.
The description explains what is going on with this saw.

@@hotsaws101 Thank you! The test saw I had I had to run Husqvarna pre-mix in it only. The other guys I know that had them also could run their own mix. Unfortunately the saw I had never ran like the one you had. I can only hope all the adjustments made to it helped make the production saws better. It certainly is benifitial to have someone whom cuts timber and works on saws put time on them and provide feedback. I would like to see the saw manufacturers make the best possible product they can. More attention to quality control would be beneficial at this time from both Stihl and Husqvarna.

@@230e4 The engineering staff was getting time on the prototypes and comparing the Husky mix oil to some others is my presumption. I did talk to a factory boy about the lackluster performance that either version of the Husqvarna oil yields.
It only takes a few hours of run time with the "new & improved" synthetic oil to have the piston gummed up. The piston will slide in the bore but it is encumbered from the buildup of residue. It can even be felt while cranking the saw over without the sparkplug.
I post one of two videos showing new saw with VERY low hours run on the new Husky oil ~ 6 years ago.

@@austindenotter19 I meant the 562 is heavy feeling also. Yes, the 550 mk2 is a tank compared to the mk1, or the 261. Even the 572 is on the fat side, but they do have a nice low end power for a 70 and they have a wide power band, which makes them forgiving in the cut.
