Time to purchase a whole house generator for emergencies just like this! A good one will take care of your fridge freezer and computer with no problems. Another upgrade you need to look into is a whole house surge protector! Protect all your electronics and appliances! Surge protector is around $700, but the generator will set you back several thousand. Both are worth the investments’
Excellent suggestions! Especially the generator! I would think such a purchase would pay for itself sooner rather than later! Plus, it would have to increase your home’s value! You may want to do the same in Texas at the cottage. Ask your insurer but it may even qualify you for a reduced rate with your homeowners insurance! Preventative measures are always a smart investment IMO!
For the coffee bar you could manually rotate the back wheels so they face the wall. Then the wheels are in opposite directions and can’t rotate. The weight of the machines will lock it in place!
@@KimJD68 Oo if she did the wheels touching the wall rotated instead you would still see the beautiful wheels from the front of the cart and view one from each walkway
OMG! Romeo doing the hamster chew, so adorably funny! I'm so happy he's such a big part of Vlogmas this year! It's been so great getting to know him better ❤ He's going to be the best Dad!!!
Just as a tip from one Texan to another, don't open your fridge when the power goes out. It's insulated, so a closed fridge gives you a little time. We usually keep and eat pantry items for such occasions. We've away with 5 hours sometimes.
You’d better move those paintings from right above your espresso maker! Ps. Your candles arrived today and we love love love them! We got all three, including two of Arlows so we are set. Thank you MaCenna!
Fridge and freezer will be fine just don’t open the doors if power goes out the fridge is fine anywhere from 24/48 hours as long as you leave the doors shut infact the more frozen food in the freezer the better so don’t panic if it happens again and once the power comes back try to leave it shut for a while til it reaches the correct temperature again
I agree! Where I am, we have power outages fairly frequently. I'm in the Southeast and, even in the hot summer, things stay safe for quite awhile. It does get cold here at nights and for a couple of weeks in winter plus we're always in the hurricane paths! And we have terrible electrical storms, so we're always losing power. I should break down and buy a generator, but it sort of offends my pioneer spirit! 😂😂 in the meantime, I have a couple of bigger power banks that I keep charged up and try to keep my phone and Kindle charged if the weather's supposed to be bad. Then I just hunker down and read or watch UA-cam or movies!
MaCenna you're absolutely adorable. Your kind energetic spirit shines . I can feel your energy through the TV. Lol. I just adore you, Kinsley and Romeo.
Seeing your bedroom come together made me all the more excited to see you tackle your living room bookshelves. I can already picture the warm wood tones and library vibes pouring into the living room!! 😍😍😍
Kinsley steals the show every time. Anytime you open a package, she is just too adorable to see what is in the box. You French spoon rest is perfect on the new cart.
Tips for outages: have a bunch of freezer blocks in the freezer that you can quickly transfer to fridge to keep it cool. Also put a bowl of water in freezer, when it's frozen solid pop a penny on top, if you are worried about how frozen the items have stayed, check the penny, if the penny has sunk below a half an inch, you need to chuck everything and start again.
MaCenna you make everything so personal and beautiful. Whoever gets a box from you will be over the moon happy! LOVE my candle. Thank you and thanks to Romeo for making me laugh.
I'm so grateful for your content, MaCenna. I genuinely aspire to be more like you, you're such a massive inspiration to me. I find myself often thinking, "How would MaCenna tackle this?" when I get overwhelmed with a project or when I'm not sure where to start (just moved into a new apartment). We're all so blessed to see a glimpse into your wonderful relationship with your mom, with Romeo, with little Kinsley - thank you. Happy Holidays 💕
Coffee bar is perfect! Kinsley is the most curious pup I have ever seen. She has to check out everything you bring into the house, I wonder what she is thinking when she is scoping things out? She's a cutie!
I just sat down with my coffee and your video popped up when I refreshed! It’s been a long day with my babies and I’m soooo ready for my break, perfect timing 😊💕
I lose power all the time with summer storms.... don't stress about your food, your fridge is a giant cooler, as long as you're not opening it heaps everything will be OK for 12hrs at least. Tip if your power is out get an actual cooler for regular stuff you might want (milk) etc so you are opening that instead of your fridge!
That little space behind your kitchen might make a nice temporary "hearth room" with a couple of comfy chairs, beverage service/wine fridge tucked under a temporary shelf/serving surface running along the wall, extra storage underneath, your small table and the nice view. You could use upcycled base cabinets, easily removable when your kitchen reno begins. Totes agree on the generator idea, too.
I think the cart is super cute! The hight is perfect once the machines are on it. Being from Florida and dealing with hurricanes, freezers if left close keep temperatures below freezing for about 48 hours.
Nice job on the coffee bar - it fits beautifully in your kitchen. Love the stamped cards and seed pouches - such a nice touch. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Good night Kinsley!
I just love how excited Kingsley gets every single time you open a box! She just knows that one of these times something will be in there just for her. So adorable. You bedroom make over is a dream come true. I’m going to have my husband sit down and watch how you decided on the molding placement and installation then the reveal video. We have lived in our current home for 11 years. I have decorated, the changed and updated to what I believe is my true style in the main living spaces of our house. Now you have inspired me to focus on our master bed and bath. We live in a 1949 home so they are not large but I do have a gorgeous claw foot tub that my husband likes to pile his things that need to be put away in. It’s time now that you have beyond inspired me!
I love the bedroom and I think the little cart looks great in the kitchen. I love Kinsley she loves you so much . People don’t understand if they don’t have the love of a sweet animal. Great Video
If you keep your fridge closed, you can go for at least 4 to 6 hours. Butter, condiments, pickles, cheese will all be fine. Produce will generally be fine. Milk and yoghurts should be temp checked. Shellfish? If you have a gas range you can light with a match, cook those really delicate foods up and stick in the ice chest and eat that evening! I have a small cube deep freeze. Since I'm short and can't reach all the way to the bottom, I keep bags of frozen ice cubes on the bottom (also helps freezer run more efficiently). If the power goes out for longer, I can pull out my igloo ice chest and use those ice bags for perishables. So long as your freezer foods are either still ice-crystaled or 40* or below, you can refreeze. We live in an area where power outages and floods happen yearly. Keep calm, "keep cool" and when in doubt, throw it out.
Love your Seed Stamp, when using a large stamp it is better to take the ink pad to the stamp, lots of little taps rather than press too hard (or you will get the ink on the side of the stamp and the wooden block). I just love when you open packages; just to see how excited and engaged little Kingsley gets each and every time - can we get to see her opening her Christmas presents? ❤ 🎅🏻 Merry Christmas from Hampshire, UK xx 🌲
I received my candle order, there is nothing better than laying in bed with my baby girl Blaze (boxer pup) watching your channel and having the scent of my new candle next to me. So relaxing, especially after a full day of Christmas baking. 😊 Happy Holidays
Today I picked up a machine embroidered Japanese style bedspread for $8. I will use it somewhere in my zen retreat. I got pretty excited because it wasn't on my list as a concept. It is very pretty.
I have had the same machine for the past three years and don’t go back to drip coffee anymore. It’s really good for anyone who consider themselves a coffee snob. You’ll love it! I felt the coffee bar was too low for everyday use. FYI don’t use Starbucks or similar kind of beams. Those kinds are too oily and harder to clean the machine
Hi MaCenna. Not to worry about the power. We experience loadshedding in south Africa. Food in the freezer can last 24 hours. Keep a plastic container with water in between the meat. As it freezes it will keep the meat cold. Get a small UPS for the wifi that will keep it on. Get an ecoflow battery Charger to keep the electronics charged. Keep a few chargable emergency lights in strategic places and you will be fine. 😊
Watching from Maine; we just had the most massive storm and power outage that’s lasted the last three days. I just gained power back in my home this morning after being out since Monday and your vlogmas videos had been the only thing keeping me sane. I was legit sitting in my car with my phone charging to watch 😅❤
The same for me with "the cottage", a cottage to me is a little 1-2 room house with an outhouse in the forest. I guess it's a perspective thing, compared to the kitchen in Texas the LA one is tiny but compared to my studios kitchen her LA kitchen is massive
Love this little mini makeover and great use of the space! I think as long as you have a phone plan where you can make a hot spot and get a generator for some of your bigger appliances things will be fine, surge protectors are good though.
I highly recommend investing in a generator. It'll keep your fridge and a few lights or a space heater running. Trust me, many years of outages in CA we're made bearable thanks to ours!
Definitely get a generator, you will be so grateful! Just keeping your fridge and freezer going. One of the best things we bought ourselves. We had a young family and a deep freeze, helped us a couple of times. You won’t regret it.
TIP .... You can buy Castor stoppers ... wood bits with like a hole to stop the wheels rolling ... the benefit is that it raises the cart a little too.
We have loadshedding here in South Africa where they turn off an areas power for 2-4 hours. Your fridge will be fine for that stint just don’t open it. But you can always get a UPS (uninterruptible power source) for your wifi 💪🏼 The bench could look so cute at the end of your bed! It would bring in more of that wood tone 😍
I live in Spain, we are used to power cuts. I just love watching Kinsley, he is so nosy, cute and funny. He always enjoys being part of what you’re doing. Love how you’ve styled your coffee bar. Love to you all, always happy 😃 to see you all. Xx 😘
Hi MaCenna. Suggestion for the kitchen until u renovate. If u don't really use the walkthrough from the kitchen beside the window (u have the other one opposite the fridge near the living room) have u considered blocking it off & putting some additional bench & under counter storage there? You could still keep the upper section open to let light through. Just a thought. Candace (Australia 😊)
We always have a gallon of spare water for emergency flushing the toilet when we have power outages. You can always add water to the back of the tank for refilling as well.
The best thing we found to save food during power outages is to get as many stryafoam coolers we could find and a bag of ice for each one. Fill it half way, add as much food, fill up the rest with ice and shut it. It kept pur food good for about 7 hours
i LOVE the coffee bar cart!!! makes so much sense in that space and it's super cute! it's a little low but it honestly doesn't look that awkward because the espresso machines are kinda tall. also that espresso machine has been on my wishlist for YEARS
A little hint with the stamp pad, always store them upside down so the ink stays on top and doesn't go to the bottom. The packets worked out brilliantly.
I'm addicted to your vlogmas. 😂😂 The moment the notification comes in, I drop whatever and head over. Just an observation on your new coffee machine: I noticed you didn't have the round coffee press which should come with it. I have the same one, and I missed it in the packaging. ❤❤❤
You have the perfect cottage garden, it’s even more beautiful a little unkept, I love it. You should look into adding an in ground compost bucket it would make your amazing roses even more so! ALSO you need to look up how you just cut a dead rose head and peel the petals back, you burry it in a pot and them a new rose will grow!!! You and your friend Jericka could swap plants❤
The food in a fridge and freezer will stay good for up to and over 24hrs as long as you keep it closed as much as possible. The are insulated to hold the cold in.
You know, Anker makes incredible power banks that will power everything you need them to, including your fridge, computer, and Wi-Fi simultaneously. It might be worth it to reach out and see if Anker will work with you... but probably buy one anyway if not. It's a great alternative to a gas generator when you live in the city/suburbs and don't want so many loud motors running at once in the neighborhood every time there's a power outage. I've only ever seen them working with channels that are more rural based, but there's definitely a market for them in city life as well.
Thank you so much for making these lovely candles. I got mine yesterday and made a little ceremony of lighting it. I have a tiny little bathroom that I just redecorated and it’s found a home there, filling up the room with lovely fragrance. It gives vintage, elegant vibes that make me happy every time I go in there!! Good job.
You went back to your old toaster oven/air fryer on your counter. Did you not like the other one; it was cuter? Three hour power outages seem like a dream! Come to Northern Vancouver Island! We had a power outage two Saturdays that was 11 hours long. The longest one that I remember (in 34 years) was 27 hours a couple of summers ago. As long as you don't open the fridge or freezer, your food is good.
Hi MaCenna, so excited you are doing Vlogmas again this year. The bedroom makeover is gorgeous, definitely see the eclectic Parisian vibes also wanted to share that Amazon has a three plug wall outlet that rotates and flattens so it doesn’t interfere with decorating around receptacles. I found it useful in my kitchen, decorating on my countertops, . and behind cabinets so it pushes closer to the walll
Hi Macenna! Love your videos! This might be too late, but thought to mention to check if violets are invasive in your area before sending them out. They're invasive in mine and not recommended for planting.
Watching this in Maine after we just had a massive flooding/wind storm that knocked half the state out of power for three days 🤣 not uncommon rurally to lose power for 6ish days after a bad storm! Generators are so worth it as a home owner
We have scheduled 12+hr power outages twice a year and I’ve never lost anything in my fridge or freezer. As long as you don’t keep opening it, it will stay food safe cool for a while.
The amount of joy your videos give me is kind of insane. Lol! Like the Christmas intro music gets me so hype. I love it! 😅 And I loved the bedroom makeover! It looks really cozy and like you were really inspired by your trip to France. I wish I could do a dark cozy color like that. I would be so scared lol but yours came out so beautiful! The dresser is beautiful too! Just everything! I'm gonna watch it again. Thank you for sharing with us. 😊🙏🏼❤️
The coffee bar worked out! I just love how Kensley always gets so excited when you're opening a package or does a haul.. she has to check everything out😆she's just the cutest baby!
I know how you feel about things going wrong when the power goes out. I live in the country, and it happens here a lot. You don’t realize how dependent you are on having power, until it goes out. I get so mad. And I don’t know what to do with myself. No tv and no way to charge my electronics. I love when Kinsley helps you open packages. She always thinks they are for her. She is adorable.
Please pray for all of us here in the State of Maine..We are in civil state of emergency..We had a bad wind storm and rain and everything is flooded, bridges were closed, towns under water, no power since last Sunday, homes washed away, and i wont get power back till 23rd at 10pm and another storm comes Christmas day just like the one we just had..We had over 100 miile winds.. Heartbreaking and just in a state of disbelief..Not the Christmas i ever imagined..

100%!!!!! Generator or solar panels!!!
Especially in CA!
Solar with a battery backup!
If the cups would fit, you could screw in cup hooks under top lip where the handles are so they were protected from being bumped.
For the coffee bar you could manually rotate the back wheels so they face the wall. Then the wheels are in opposite directions and can’t rotate. The weight of the machines will lock it in place!
Great idea!
I love that idea, but it would also hide the detail of the wheels and that's the best part of the cart.
@@KimJD68 Oo if she did the wheels touching the wall rotated instead you would still see the beautiful wheels from the front of the cart and view one from each walkway
Love the bar cart! You might want to move the painting if steam rises from the coffee bar.

I love Romeo chewing! He’s so cute!
Great spot for a coffee bar! Could you build a box for below just the machines? Then you could store pods and tea while elevating the machines?
Like with a little drawer, and vintage brass handle to match the cart
You’d better move those paintings from right above your espresso maker! Ps. Your candles arrived today and we love love love them! We got all three, including two of Arlows so we are set. Thank you MaCenna!
You add the perfect touches to everything! Magic is in the details…no matter how small. You prove this over and over again! ❤

MaCenna you make everything so personal and beautiful. Whoever gets a box from you will be over the moon happy! LOVE my candle. Thank you and thanks to Romeo for making me laugh.
Love the seed packets! I did that for my wedding favors and also designed and ordered a custom stamp. Such a fun DIY!

Christmas is coming!!! I'm excited if you're going to show us how you decorate or prepare your food with Romeo's family coming over 😊
With the stamp, you can ink the stamp instead of stamping the ink! :)
Put the bench by the stairs. It can help hide the cord from the lamp.
Just love your style, and your spirit always makes me smile!
I’m a stamper…take your ink pad to the stamp, so much easier.
Coffee bar is perfect! Kinsley is the most curious pup I have ever seen. She has to check out everything you bring into the house, I wonder what she is thinking when she is scoping things out? She's a cutie!

She already explained that Romeo don't want to be on camera. He has no interest and that she respect that.
I soooo love seeing you and Romeo together! The two of you make your "shares" beautiful!!
The bedroom was crazy omg God bless you with such a talent happy holidays

The food in a fridge and freezer will stay good for up to and over 24hrs as long as you keep it closed as much as possible. The are insulated to hold the cold in.
I recommend anchor solar battery packs in the cases of power outages
I adore how cute Kinsley is always there to help open packages and checking everything out, as if to say, is it for me momma?
Hi MaCenna, so excited you are doing Vlogmas again this year. The bedroom makeover is gorgeous, definitely see the eclectic Parisian vibes also wanted to share that Amazon has a three plug wall outlet that rotates and flattens so it doesn’t interfere with decorating around receptacles. I found it useful in my kitchen, decorating on my countertops, . and behind cabinets so it pushes closer to the walll
19:06 that is THE best pen 😂 it’s my favorite!
Whole house generator would be the goal but in the mean time something like an Anker power station would come in so handy for short outages!
Ugh kinsley is perfect ❤❤
Hi Macenna! Love your videos! This might be too late, but thought to mention to check if violets are invasive in your area before sending them out. They're invasive in mine and not recommended for planting.
Haha the split second face on Romeo when he drank the green drink hahaha... And cut some blocks of wood n put them under to heigher the bar cart ❤
Watching this in Maine after we just had a massive flooding/wind storm that knocked half the state out of power for three days 🤣 not uncommon rurally to lose power for 6ish days after a bad storm! Generators are so worth it as a home owner
You sitting there chatting as if you are about to send me your candle😂
Your little coffee cart is really pretty, I hope it works out for you. Thank you for another fun Vlogmas
We have scheduled 12+hr power outages twice a year and I’ve never lost anything in my fridge or freezer. As long as you don’t keep opening it, it will stay food safe cool for a while.
Those seed packets are gorgeous!
Have to remark that you and Romeo are a ridiculously good looking couple: beautiful inside & out, both of you x
Did you check to see if there locks on the wheels? Mine has them
Macenna to electricity: I can’t live without you! 9:16
Later: I never want to see you. 14:23
😂😂
The amount of joy your videos give me is kind of insane. Lol! Like the Christmas intro music gets me so hype. I love it! 😅 And I loved the bedroom makeover! It looks really cozy and like you were really inspired by your trip to France. I wish I could do a dark cozy color like that. I would be so scared lol but yours came out so beautiful! The dresser is beautiful too! Just everything! I'm gonna watch it again. Thank you for sharing with us. 😊🙏🏼❤️
Watching this drinking coffee with my Christmas mug ❤
You can find a riser to go under the machine. It will give it at least a little more height.
I suggested a coffee bar in that exact space way back when you first showed the kitchen. So glad it worked! I had a feeling! ☺️
