Great Review! What is the model of this black lifting desk in the video?
The clear upper cable management brackets are behind the monitor anyway, I think it makes it easier to identify cables when rerouting. In my opinion it is a very nice feature
AVLT's previous model (the AVLT-DM42-1, the one in the video is the AVLT-DM64-1) is good enough for most 49" super ultrawides and is $100 cheaper. I'm using the AVLT-DM42-1 for my Samsung CRG9 and I've had no issues with it so far. The CRG9 is 25.6 lbs and the monitor arm is rated for 33 lbs. The main reason why I went with the AVLT over the Monoprice and Vivo is that it comes in white to match my desk setup.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the AVLT-DM42-1 also comes with the quick connect feature like the Monoprice and Vivo.
THANK YOU! Finally someone has provided us all who own a Samsung Odyssey 49" series monitor with products to compare/consider.
6:55 that's because the HX is pretty much for monitors at the max weight. The hinge is compensating for how heavy the monitor is. Put a monitor on there that doesnt hit the max weight and it will keep tilting up
Thanks for the test. I think it's worth mentioning that the Ergotron HX comes in two different versions: The HD pivot (which you apparently got) for large curved screens and the normal pivot for flat screens. Because of the large range of force needed to keep the different monitors horizontal, it seems they needed to design two versions to completely cover it
Correct, and if they would've looked at Ergotron's marketing, they'd see the minimum weight for the HD Pivot is advertised as 28lb. The Dell S3222DGM they're using in the video only weighs 22.4lb. Kind of unfair to give it a bad rap because you didn't read the specs before buying.
Thanks for this information… I was looking on amazon and was unsure what the difference is. I was looking for one that will support a c3 lg 42 inch. Which is just 21.6 lbs. Good to know the one that is cheaper is the one I need. It makes sense that the added weight curved monitors have out in front of the mount cause the center of gravity to put more tension on the spring. I guess you could always strap weights to the monitor that are hidden if you really need to though. I like the idea that i will be able to hang heavier things on this in the future.
Thank you for this, very useful !
Thanks so much for this content.
Glad to see there's a solid $100 option - wish we knew how it held up long term compared to the more premium options, and what other little or big features/annoyances might emerge over time.
I have for about 2 years now and it’s works just as great 👍🏻
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience with these monitor arms. It's really helpful to get a hands-on perspective. I've been considering upgrading my monitor setup, and your review has given me some valuable insights. The Model Price arm seems quite robust, but the bulkiness might be a concern for me.
I appreciate your honest assessment of the Vivo Premium arm, especially considering its budget-friendly price. It's good to know that it can handle larger monitors effectively. The AVLT arm's unique feature with USB and AUX ports is intriguing, but the setup complexity might be a drawback.
The Ergotron HX's premium quality and quick-connect system certainly catch my eye, but I'm a bit disappointed with the cable management. The Human Scale M10 sounds impressive in terms of build quality and cable management, but the price is quite steep.
Your video has been informative, and I'll definitely consider these options when I make my decision. Thanks again for sharing your findings!
Hello, Thank You For The Tests. I would choose the Ergotron HX.
I've been using the Ergotron on the PG48UQ and love it. I grabbed it in black and it looks great . I checked out the M10 and liked it as well... but It came down to aesthetics for me. I didn't want a gloss back base. I will also say that the Ergotron is a beefier, more utilitarian design and I love the look of it. And yes, that quick connect mount is very overengineered. I would say it's indestructible under normal means.
I honestly can't imagine why anyone would pick the M10 besides having "f u money" though. Quite a huge price jump for marginal improvements over the competition imho.
Excellent video. Are you planning to do an updated video about dual monitor arms?
You guys are damn life savers! I don't know why your channel isn't over 1M subs. Video quality is exceptional and in depth. I built my custom 80x30 black walnut desk based on your review of the Fully Jarvis frame and it's the best thing to ever happen to my WFH office.
good review, I was all prepped to buy the HX but saw this and now going to go for the Vivo. The look is not really important as long as it does the job. Thanks for saving me 500 bucks (I need 2)!
Waooo that's exactly what I was searching, thank you!
4:26 actually there was a quick connect system. Screw half way top two screws into monitor and hang it on the arm. Then secure bottom screws and tighten top ones. Usually it works both for 75 and 100 mm VESA mounts, but in this case for 100 mm only.
The black WALI Monitor arm is similar to the VIVO arm, it's probably made in the same factory, but WALI have a grey and white version which allows you to tighten the clamp from the top rather then having to screw it tight from beneath the desk. The clamp works the same as the clamp for secretlab's monitor arm, it's definitely the all desk clamps should be made.
Finally been looking for a video like this forever!
Glad I could help! -GK
So glad to see this video come out, I tried to find an arm for my 49 when I first got it (2 years ago!) but.... no joy
This makes me want the Humanscale, but on a monoprice budget. I guess I'll have to decide what to compromise on.
If this was going on a standing desk (movement and shaking) would that change your pick?
Something to say about the Monoprice HD - the fact that only has two pivots, means the screen can't stay centered if you pull it up or down, or towards you. That's a pretty big no-go for 'congested' desks, multimonitor setups or things like graphic tablets, which need to move forward.
I went for a Ergotron LX for my 24" / 9kg graphics tablet, so it can double as a secondory monitor or be pulled or the way forward, angled way back, with the bottom of the screen standing on the desk to be useful for drawing. It's lovely!
Hmm, I was consider buying the monoprice. Can you explain more about the pivot not being able to be centered?
@@phuongtrang280
the screen is on a single arm/link - so you can pivot it, but not pull it forward in a straight line.
The foot of the arm will be not centrally behind the screen either, if it's all the way back. it has to pivot in a half-circle, basically.
If you have two 'arms', like the ergotron, you can pull forward straight, and have much more flexibility.
@@Sareth94 Thank you so much bud. Guess I am going with the ergotron then
Chapters/sections for each product would be cool :)
@1:00 I would imagine that the monitor itself came with standoffs just for this in the box. I have two MSI 27" QD monitors and had to use the standoffs as well because otherwise I couldn't slide the monitor on the quick hanging hinge.
Enjoyed the video. Looking to upgrade my workspace in a number of ways, I'l like to get a good monitor arm setup that can work with two monitors. Do you have any videos featuring dual (or even triple) monitor setups?
I have the one in white in start of video. Exact same but mine is north bayou...I notice most are chinese models just rebranded with many different names. It holds my 40" innocn 21x9 and now it has my LG C2...zero issues. Both VERY heavy too.
that would have been interesting to compare them at the end and give your advice/opinion, I ordered yesterday a clone of the vivo premium btw
I pretty much have settled on Ergotron monitor arms for myself. I have bought less expensive a couple of times and was completely disappointed. The monitors were only 60% of the rated monitor load weight rating, but failed. Even after tightening everything, the monitor would sag down and/or the monitor would tilt down. Maybe for a small very light weight monitor would by another brand. The other thing to consider is how they hold up a few month down the road as well. Surprised that the Ergotron that you tested had such poor cable management. I also have the Ergotron holding my LG 42" 4K monitor and has been rock solid for over 4 years now. I paid $320.00 CDN for it back then, hard to swallow, but worth it. The mast is 18" high with a 2 section arm, so lots of force being put on it. Very smooth to move around and position the monitor for various viewing depending on my needs.
Does the VIVO one allow you to freely adjust the tilt or do you have to adjust and lock-Thanks, great review
I've been using ergotron LXs for yars, I have 4 of them for a total of 8 arms ( two per stand )... I may have lost track of how many arms I actually have though. Costly, but great and many adjustment settings!
thanks for the test! the wall mounted ergotron tilts down only 5° which prevents it from beeing mounted higher on the wall, which is a little unfortunate.
amazing review, i will definitely save for the humanscale since the whole point of monitor arms in my opinion is to not see it and this one looks the most sleek
Just ordered my second ergotron. It’s been working well on a 55” OLED and hopefully it’s not too heavy duty for the 42” OLED I’m going to put on it. It’s so stable compared to others and the look makes my desk look amazing.
You should be good on the 42" OLED. 55" is massive for your desk, dang! I really like my 42" :) -GK
@@btodtv I got the ergotron with my 42" LG C2, it works perfectly, but make sure you have 2 people for the job and adjustment!
I'm looking for a 48" TV Vesa 300x300 fitment and 15kg monitor arm that can rotate 360 degrees here in the UK, you have shown helpful information. Thanks for your video.
if your spending nearly $600 on a monitor arm ur nutz
well, if you had money for Samsung Odyssey G9 then it’s no problem 😉
Brilliant 🥂🥂🤙🤙😃😃 simple and straight up.
I'd really like to see a video like this for wall mount arms. I won't use a desk mount and want to upgrade my monitors to 32" or bigger monitors so probably need better wall mounts
I have the Vivo for my 45in LG Ultragear and I wouldn't change it for anything. It has been nothing but great and I love it sm.
How has the Vivo been working out after all this time?
@@undone14 I would buy it again if I had to. Easy to move and so many ways you can move it. Expensive at first but man o man so easy to work with and a lot of things you can tweak to make it perfect for you.
extremely thorough review
Any worries on the mounts and the table for such Heavy Duty, High Weight monitors?
Did wanna comment before but I swear, this is exactly what I have been looking for, the best arm that can carry the G9.
Great video... now I know what to buy. Thanks for this
You're welcome. Which one is it? -GK
@@btodtv The Ergotron is what I want. The reason for one of these is that I have 1 monitor (Asus Rog 32") I want to use for both Simracing and for Office work. And with this its easy to move from 1 position to another. And great work on the video... it shows everything very well and a quality production. Have a great weekend mate.
Do you have the link to the sound panels on the wall?
Thanks in advance
Unrelated question but do you have any infos on the release of the Steelcase Karman? Looking forward for the review!
What is the Clearance Level with the Monoprice when the G9 is installed?
If those audio jacks on the AVLT aren't at all shielded, I'm going to guess you're going to hear some interferance/noise from the power cable. What do you think?
Question do you need vesa plate for 200x200 monitor for the AVLT monitor arm or does the AVLT already comes with the plate ???
Do you need to get the heavy duty tilt pivot for the Ergotron arm for Samsung G9 Neo?
i have 2 usb ports built into my arms, i run the arms ports right up to to the monitors usb ports and run a usb to the comp from the monitor basically taking one of the ports that are a pain to get at on the monitor and turning them into usable ports on the arm
You guys should check out the Vivo V155C monitor arm. It works great with my 48" Oled and is less than $100.
"If you want to spend $140 you're probably just going to want to spend $379" lol
He said if you want to buy the 249 arm stand just spend 379 for a much better model
I had the vivo mount. It lasted 3 months before my Samsung G9 weight was to much for it. I walked into to the room to find my monitor drooping. I got lucky, after that I looked at some comments about it and people were talking about how the hinge point failed on theirs also but they walked into the room to a broken monitor on the ground
which monitor stands would be able to go high enough if I were to get 2 of them to mount one 49" on top of another?
I've been using an Alienware QD-OLED monitor for about a month now with its stock stand, which is designed quite well, but realizing I would rather clean up some desk space. This video couldn't have come at a better time!
haha so which one did u get?
@@chesterchong8704 either the 3423dw or the DWF by the sounds of the qd-oled
@@spoils8179 ? I’m asking which monitor arm did u get for your aw3423dw?
Are you using a window manager? if so, which one?
I have a glass desk and I am looking to setup dual 38" Alienware monitors what freestanding monitor stands would you recommend please?
Does the M10 support grommet mounting?
Great video! Can @BTODtv or someone else tell me how high can each of these go? From the desk to the center of the VESA mount on it's highest. I'd like to get something that would give me the flexibility to use with a single 40+ big screen or TV, or with a 34 wide screen sitting on top (with the heavy duty arm) of another 34 wide screen (with the original stand). Thank you!
which one can i use for apple imac?
Hey love the video can you help me I’m trying to find a way to mount a monitor hanging from a shelf above my desk is this even possible
Nice video!
Technically the first 3 models come from the same monitor arm supplier in Asian region. So their clamps and other details are similar.
Is this specifically for larger monitors or could I use this for my 27 inch?
Which of these have the deepest clamps? My desk edge is beveled like this \_________/ so it needs a deep clamp to get the proper surface grip
i need one for my lg 49 inch wide monitor, to use it in the wall
I wonder what the name brand multi monitor heavy duty arms are like. I saw an option from imovr that was motorized which looked cool, but it wasn't heavy duty rated. Only supported around 20 pounds per arm which seemed to be about average for non heavy duty arms.
I have AVLT that supports 43" for $137. To me, you get a lot for what you pay for and yet it is well built. I think for most people a $500 monitor mount from Humanscale is simply too hard to swallow.
You missed a good arm. I used to use a Humanscale M8 but I switched to a Flo Plus from Colebrook Bosson Saunders / Herman Miller. I find it much smoother to adjust than the Humanscale. Use it on my 34-43" monitors.
I bet you haven't' had the M10 very long. The plastic humanscale uses breaks after a few years. They normally stiffen up and then eventually break when removing cables. I have installed hundreds of monitor arms over the years and as much as I prefer a plastic covers or cables the Velcro straps in the HX is actually a great idea as I already use Velcro with all of the monitors I install.
We’ve been using it for about 18 months without an issue. It gets added and removed from desks quite often. Thanks for sharing your experience-GK
Question how high do monitor arm go ...I have 2 49inch looking to stack .. top to bottom... just wondering will a arm work that way??
Which one can be mounted on the wall ?
I bought the Ergotron HX monitor arm to hold my 48” LG C1 OLED TV. Works perfectly. Monitor arm is VESA 100 x 100 and the TV is 200 x 300, so I had to buy a adapter plate from Amazon.
I had to buy an adapter plate for my 42" OLED as well. I can't imagine 48" that must be massive! -GK
@@btodtv: I was tired of waiting for the 42” so I bought the 48” when it was only £999. I thought 48” was too big until I watched “The Expanse” on it, it is the perfect size as long as you sit 10’ foot away from the screen. People complain that the C1 is not bright enough, I have turned the brightness down as the contrast from black to white hurts your eye. TV is excellent, but the remote is terrible.
Which one had the least amount of wobble on 49 inch?
Man im tempted to get an arm for my LG c1 after this, which do you think would be the best?
So none of them support full 90 degree tilt to front with a lowest arm height possible preferably lower than the mounting point , which is the only reason I need these arms for my NEO G9 Odyssey . Because I need to get my monitor out of the way for my projector screen with one little move. I was able to do this with my 34" monitor and the arm I was using which was able to support only up to 8 kg unfortunately :( I guess my only option for this kind of weight is just remove the cables and put the whole damn thing to the floor temporarily ;)
Great video and channel!
Hi, would be great to see a review of monitor arms that don't have a clamp at the back - my desk has a massive bar and cable tray and much as I'd love to, none of these systems work for me.
Hi there, I purchased the Ergotron 45-647-216 HX Desk Monitor Arm with HD Pivot for my Titan 30 inch curved wide screen monitor as the single Loctek arm couldn't support the weight of the screen. I had notice over the last few months that the screen gradually tilted downwards and I had to constantly retighten. Would the Ergotron monitor arm fit my 30inch screen? Yes, I did do some research but didn't see anything etc
Dell's MSA20 arm is the best i found.
It does feel like there is a strong bias towards the M10 model, it seemed to me that it was a paid advertisement. The "negative points made for the first 2 products (cable management) are also present in the M10, despite the design differences, there doesn't seem to have a reason to spend more for the same.
Quick question guys, the AVLT says up to 43inch tho, how are you using it for 49inch.
I just got a 49inch lg ultrawide, couldyou please recommend if I should get the avlt in the video or the one that’s heavy duty.
so i just got the odyssey 57 inch, i have not got a monitor arm yet, but i definitely must get one soon. I have searched online everywhere for a solution, but everyone recommends using ergotron and using screws to stick in the joint at the base because it drops down from weight, im not buying an expensive arm that doesn't even work, anyone know if there are newer arms made for this thing?
No single monitor arm should cost $500+ lmao
100% Agreed. You'd have to be crazy, sponsored, or just not gaf about money to dump that much on an arm.
Should have voice commands or something at that price 😂
I returned the vivo, it tilted horribly with a 43" LG
Suprised to see the DELL MSA20 wasn't on the list considering u had a DELL monitor.
If you were going to stack a 49” with a 34” on top with a 27” to one side of the 49” what arms would you for to make it not look like Armageddon?
What about Silverstone arm 14?
6:50 - I had the same problem with my Ergotron HX and HP Omen 27 inch monitor.
I should have gone with the LX.
I ended up double sided taping two, 2.5 lbs Olympic plates add extra solved my problem.
Should've just returned it bro. The LX is like half the price.
@@CheekiTiki totally agree. Too late. But maybe in future I'll have a bigger and heavier monitor.
@@pehenry That's a good point. As an LX owner, upgrading to an ultrawide will be pretty damn expensive for me compared to you.
Just came about Herman Miller also makes arms.. how do they rate? as good as their chairs? (expensive but good?) Some of them cost $300
Chapters would be very nice
That's a really nice desk, do you mind sharing info about it and where to purchase? Great video!
Pretty sure that's their own desk. Check out their website, they carry a bunch of manufacturers' desks and their house brand, this one.
I can't wait to get my dream monitor one day.
I wonder if the M10 can handle a really heavy monitor like the 57" Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ultrawide. Another UA-camr was using, I think, an Ergotron and the monitor tended to droop down (top is closer to you than the bottom) rather than be square to the desk.
It probably could, testing the M10 now and it seems my 32 inch 4k curved monitor is the BARE minimum weight requirement
I’m guessing these can’t be used on 1/4” glass top desks?
I noticed that most of these manufacturers do not offer alternative VESA plates. So you are literally stuck with whatever plate it comes with. This severely limits the Ergotron in my opinion because it only accepts 75x75 and 100x100.
I want an arm for my 34 inch lg curved monitor in vertical position. Please suggest me an arm for that. 🎉🎉
Do you know any good freestanding mounts because these types of monitor mounts don’t fit on my desk it’s too thick
I bought a couple dual mounts that use a stand. Hope to have a video out in 3-4 weeks that include them -Greg
do these monitor arms work on alienware monitor?
Hmmm so it appears adjustment is something people do with these arms? I'm looking to buy some but I will set them up once and never move them again. It's good to know I might not need something very expensive
you get an invision mx450 in the UK for less than all these and performs just aswell if not better
But Invision say that the max450 will only work up to 35 inches, that the weight distribution in wider monitors means that the mx450 will not properly support them. I know, I asked and they replied:
“While the MX450 would be suitable for both the weight and VESA size of your screen, unfortunately, your screen is much larger than the capacity for this monitor arm which is 35" and therefore would not be suitable.
In addition to this, we've discovered that some of these much larger, wider or curved screens are much deeper in overall screen thickness and are also bottom heavy in design. This combination and the centre of gravity is much further forward than normal, which in turn, exerts much more leveraged weight or force onto the tilt function. ”
I have the first one and no matter which way I turn the bolt on the extension arm, it doesn't move :/
Some comment on the life expectancy of the spring in the arm. I have an arm that the spring has surrendered and the arm no longer maintains the height it used to.
0:53 just take one of the screws to your local hardware and buy stand-offs, it’s that simple and cost about five dollar’s
