Plankton is supposed to be on Squidward's shoulder but I like the idea of him coming out of SpongeBob's eye socket.

I know this comment was made a year ago, but i want to answer your question. The reason Squidward won instead of Krabs is simple, it was most likely because of plot reasons, or the creators didn't know that Krabs was a veteran.
