  • A mouse has moved into my house! 🐭 Watch as I try to outsmart this sneaky little intruder. From setting humane traps to investigating how it snuck in, how will it all go?! Life on the farm always keeps you on your toes, and this mouse is no exception! Will I finally catch it, or will the mouse win this battle?
Please, if you have any suggestions on how to handle this mouse problem in a humane way, let me know! 🙏🏻

Uh, a mouse is never alone 😬. Use a little stone at the end of the bridge, cause the mouse isn't heavy enough to fall in the bucket. Or take a cat from the shelter, than you have company and he or she has a job and a home ❤

Nutella works really well as bait, but I think your bucket might be too small, so the mouse has a chance to jump out…

I had a deep bucket and put a broomstick on it which the mouse could reach easily.
In the middle of the broomstick I put an empty roll of toilettpaper where I put some Nutella on.
The broomstick I fixed with adhesive tape the way that it doesn't move.
Now the mouse run along the broomstick to get the Nutella.
When she'rs reaching the paper roll, this one is turning and splash ... the mouse is falling in the deep bucket.
It realy should be deep enough that she can't climbe out.
This is the way I got rid of the mice in my sleeping room.
At first I had one and then I had 4 and 5..
I tried a lot of things... but the last one worked. I closed then the hole where they got in and drove them far away from my home.
There are no mice any more in my house.
      Good luck. ❤

Not sure if anybody else has suggested it, but mice hate peppermint. So you might get some peppermint and spray it around or spray it on some cotton balls and put it where you think they are hanging out. You have to refresh it every so often though.

Daniel, we had a similar problem with trapping a feral cat in our yard we needed to catch to have him sterilized. He could get into the trap and steal the bait. We realized he didn’t weigh enough to trip the trampoline so we set a small rock on the mechanism to add some weight and had no trouble catching him. Your bucket trap should work if it’s tall enough the mouse can’t jump out. Can you adjust the tension on the trip plate so it will work with less weight? Or put something on it to add weight? Or put some food down in the bucket and hope the mouse jumps in? Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your mouse problem! We wonder if perhaps the little thing is able to jump or climb out of the bucket so perhaps it's not the best suited tool? A cage trap might be better if you can get hold of one. We'd start by clearing out the room so it doesn't have so many places to hide. It's so considerate of you too, that you want to get this done ASAP so the mouse can be ok through the coming winter 💚
Mouse problems aside, amazing footage as always Daniel - We both loved the scenery you showed when you took the kayak into the water - what amazing colors! It must be so calming and nice to be amongst nature like that. 🌲Thanks and good luck!

If you give it a name you will be less worried about it. Then a few more traps (of different kinds). Then release much further from your house than you think you need to. Mice have very strong homing instincts. I would suggest at least a kilometer. I love the idea that one person had of a making sure it has a shelter to go to. You'll manage this!

Hi, Daniel. Use a “metal multi mouse trap”. It’s a metal box which once the mouse gets in, it gets trap inside and can not get out again. It works great. • @biosphere1000
    @biosphere1000 День тому +2

Hi Daniel, mice can climb stone apartment buildings with their little claws, so a little bucket is not going to stop them. You can get a little metal cage, that traps them without doing any harm. You can take it a bit far in the woods and release it, otherwise it might find its way back. Winter is coming, so be prepared there might be more little housemates, unless you get some cats (best is two) to keep them away and the cats can keep you company (unless you are allergic). A win-win situation. Rid of the mice and cat cuddles. Best solution I think. Mice can spread diseases.

We also had mice in our cellar once and had set up a trap that looked like a small cage made of iron bars. Then I put some dry bread in it as bait and as soon as the mouse touched the bread, the flap of the trap sprung shut. It worked and I was able to carry the mouse outside. Your bucket is probably far too small because I've seen how high mice can jump 😲 I wish you good luck getting rid of the mouse 🤞🤗🍀

We had mice when we moved into our home and they crawled up inside our walls making tunnels through our insulation. They started destroying any wiring they could get to. It was terrible.
Plan? I love animals but we had to defend our home! We got two cats. Within a week the problem was solved and after 26 years we have never seen another because of our kitties. Also no snakes or gophers either as they smell the cats and stay away.
I understand not wanting to kill them but even if you trap and relocate them unless it’s a very long distance away they WILL come back.

There are MANY ways to get rid of mice. I remember as a kid, they used to have little speakers that played a sound humans cannot hear but mice can and they hate it. So, there is the sonic option. But I think it is a better idea for you to drive the mouse away with smells. They apparently hate Cinnamon or Peppermint or Cayenne Pepper. If you have cinnamon sticks, I would throw them around the room the mouse visits. The only problem is, it will likely only move to another room in your house. Mice can be genuinely difficult to be rid of.

I totally agree with your suscribers Daniel, a cat is necessary. For example, my adopted kitten Roque has already caught two but he didn't hurt them, he just brought me the mice as a trophy and then I released them. On the other hand, where there are cats mice avoid approaching the place.
You could give love and shelter to a kitten that needs it and he would do his job in addition to also giving you his love.
I understand your position but the urine of these rodents can transmit hantavirus and leptospirosis. Take care of yourself.

That's a very strange trap. The live traps in Germany are small cages that the mouse has to enter to get to the food (preferably bacon). When it wants to eat the food, the door closes and the mouse is trapped in the small cage. That's how I always catch the mice.

  • @kevingunderson7381

Oh no - mice in the house is the worst! I have really good results using tin humane live mouse traps that have a clear lid so you can easily see what’s inside. I think the brand name is Victor. I put a little peanut butter on a small piece of bread along with a small cap of water inside the center of trap - this allows to entice mice inside & anything trapped to have some food and water if I don’t get to releasing them right away. These work best when you slide the door ends of trap flush along the edge of a wall. I prefer these as they are humane and reusable. It’s an approximately 8” x 5” x 2” square tin with an entrance on two ends of the trap and a clear lid to see inside.
    Good luck!

Start by building a shelter for the mice you are going to catch far from your home. For example, build an alternative shelter for them with straw and leaves and perhaps something with a plastic tube. If you catch one in the winter, you can safely house it there. Or well, get a few of those fantastic mouse repellers... a cat or two. I have been suffering from recurring mice in my kitchen for years. It's not fun, but unfortunately it's part of it. Fortunately, one of my cats is a hunter and ensures that it always remains under control. Sometimes there is no problem for months and then yes, there is another one. Party for my cat Tommy....

But I started to take care after them. Now, I dont have mouse or rat problem in front of my olive tree summer house in the western Turkey.
This is nature and when you take care the cats then they do protect the house. And they want a small price for that. They place the mouse in front of my door every time they catch a mouse. You are living in an amazing nature so this is part of the nature law. You dont have to kill. If you come to İstanbul, you will not see a single rat, why there are many cats that we are taking care of. Get two cats, because they are social animals. They will take care of you and your house.

I caught a whole family (4 of them) who had got into a cupboard in my kitchen..They had to leave! So, I drove four times to the local Church, several miles away and set them free…then we all said our farewells and went off to live our lives in peace. I have seen none since. I released the small naughty family on a freezing cold , snowy night with a morning forecast of severe hoar frost. They are hardy little creatures and I returned in the morning to the Church to check where I’d put them and they had all gone - probably in one of many safe places in the Cemetery area. xxx

I'm not sure what your trap looks like but from your description, it sounds different. Ours was like an enclosed rectangular, plastic tube with one end where they entered and the other end, still enclosed contained the cheese and holes in it similar to a cage but all plastic.
When they entered the one side cause they smelled the cheese, it closes behind them. Hope this helps. Don't give up.

I had six mice living on my balcony this year. They came for the bird seeds I put out there in winter, and then never left.
I caught them with humane live traps I bought cheaply on Amazon. I'm sure, those are also sold in hardware stores or similar places. They look like small green, translucent plastic tunnels. There's a compartment in the back, that you fill with treats. Peanut butter works best; mice are crazy for it! Once they walk into this "tunnel", a spring gets activated and closes the door in the front of it, and thus the mouse is trapped. You can then carry the whole thing far away from your house (I went half a kilometer at least, into the forest), and then open the trap wherever you want to set the mouse free. You can keep this kind of trap up preventative after your mouse is caught, if you can check it every day. In case any more mice show up. 😉
Better not to offer raisins to the mouse/mice, as those are poisonous to them.
I'm crossing my fingers for your mouse hunting endeavors. 🤞

I have a cat who brings them in alive most times I can catch them with a glass the minute he drops them. On the odd occasion where I don't succeed I use the human traps. But not one but about 6. Where u place them is important and that they can't get do other foods. I put some cat food in mine. It looks like u have a cat flap so mayve the previous owners had a cat who bought it in. Before I had a cat get I had a house where mice moved in. Cheeky buggers sat on top of fridge grinning at me. However once spring came they moved out.the traps I use are called bog cheese they are bated bt Catford works better.

However a cat will let you know where the mouse is and the glass catching scenario works. Mine is a night cat and the amount of time I woke up grabbed the glass to put over the mouse than walked in my pyjamas outside and through half the village to release it...He is 10 now and less interested in hunting and we have a big garden now which he shares with a badger so I guess he is occupied. If I find a spider in my house for example I will catch it and take it outside. Solution was to fill in any hole you find and get a cat. There are many benefits into having a cat and the cats smell will keep mice at bay.

    Hi Daniel,
If you can't humanely relocate a critter, you may have to resort to a stronger approach. Winter is coming and the meeces and little critters are going to go looking for warmth and food, do you want that to be in your kitchen or pantry ?? Me thinks not. If you don't act now, you may be inundated with little critters in your new home.
Find the entry points and plug them asap. That will keep the bugs and critters out and give you peace of mind.

And once the mouse is caught, one needs to set it free really far from the house, best on the other side of a river. Otherwise they will find their way back as they know it‘s a good place, above all in winter.
