Robin is at the piano and Maurice is wearing green. Words became Barry’s solo spotlight songs in concerts, and I Started A Joke was Robin’s. To see the change in voice and style, maybe react to the live versions from 1979 and 1989. In the 1979 video, be sure to notice the scars on Barry’s chest from when he was scaled as a toddler, given 20 minutes to live, but survived. They also show a cameo of his wife and son watching him singing. In the 1989 video, you get to hear him speak and laugh as he interacts with the audience. The song has a dramatic pause, so be sure you don’t cut the video short. Wait until he takes a deep bow.
They wrote songs together since the beginning. They seem to have old souls. Timeless songs.
The Bee Gees were and are a British Band, some people call them Australian, but they moved there from England and promptly move back to England when their music career started to take off in Australia, realising if they wanted to be successful internationally, back home was the place to be.And how right they were.

Yes. Bee Gees were great growing up with. Their talent was much and various generations loved their music. Appreciate that younger listeners such as yourself embrace them just as we too did.
My father in-law from Belgium spelled his name the same, and my mother in-law called him “Morris” but people in this country called him Maurice. The other Gibb brothers referred to him as “Morris” as well and they are originally from the UK.
I request a reaction to Lonely Days, which is from the pre-disco era. For literally decades, I would have sworn that Lonely Days was by the Beatles, and I only found out it was the Bee Gees around the 90s! It's one of my favorite Bee Gees songs.

Robin is the one at the piano and never sports a beard. Maurice is behind Barry in the green, playing guitar and starts going bald in his 20s so often wears a hat. Love your reactions to this great trio & appreciate you playing this old clip!❤
The BEES GEES! Barry, fraternal twins: Robin and Maurice (pronounced Morris) and Andy.
Andy, who had a very successful solo career, passed away in 1988, at the age of 30, due to heart problems.
Maurice (green suit) passed away in 2003. He had a twisted intestine. According to Barry, the doctors still performed the surgery, after the heart attack. His twin Robin (piano) passed away in 2012 of cancer.
Thus, Barry is the 'last man standing.' He will be 75 in September (2021.) He and his wife Linda have been married for 50 years; 5 adult children; 8 grandchildren. They had been singing since the mid- 50s. But they really jumped to fame producing and singing songs in the classic movie 'Saturday Night Fever.' Barry has written and produced all of their songs, and for other singers. They sold over 220 million records..
As a songwriter, he shares with John Lennon and Paul McCartney (The Beatles) the record for most consecutive Billboard Hot 100 number ones, each having six. In total, he has written or co-written sixteen Billboard Hot 100 number one hits. Guinness World Records lists Gibb as the second most successful songwriter in history, behind McCartney.
As being very mischievous, they had to make a decision if they wanted to have a life of crime, or a life in music. It was then that Barry threw a pocket knife, that they had stolen, into the sea.
And, as is said, "The rest is history!" 🙂

My mom brought that up in1968 after watching this show. Imagine that, 52 years later? Go figure.
Barry married at age 19.His mother said Barry did not like being alone.Though that marriage didnt last .He did find his soulmate in Linda for over 50 years.He has a beautiful family.
Robin was probably going solo at that time.He did have a short solo career.He and Barry clashed at times.The documentary gives some information about the background of their relationship

Not sure if you noticed or not, but in the old video from 1960, Barry's teeth were not perfect. But his new teeth are indeed beautiful. Also, I think this is the first time I've ever seen Robin playing an instrument; he's playing the piano. Maurice is the one in the green suit playing guitar.

Terri Wyatt - Robin played piano, organ, accordion, acoustic guitar and even some viola but preferred singing. He composed on piano or guitar.

I dont know if this is a fact, but I think Barry wrote this for his then , now wife, Linda. She always says, "I dont know why he picked me, but Im glad he did" So gives me the feeling that she may have doubted his love for her at the time, which I suppose is reasonable if your dating Barry Gibb, lol! They have been married 50 years, have 5 kids, and at last count 8 grandkids!
Robin didn't have to pretend to play the piano. He knew how to play piano and several other instruments. If he didn't "pretend" to play, he couldn't have been on stage with the group at all since he didn't sing on Barry's signature song. In fact, everybody's probably faking it because that's the studio recording backing them up. No orchestra on stage. And that goofy face of Robin's is, in my opinion, just adorable! Barry's vocal might be the only thing "live" during that performance. That's why I wish that reactors would use only live concerts for their reactions, especially with our precious guys. They always delivered the best performance at their concerts, sounding just like the original recordings.

Obviously, you didn't understand what I said in my first comment to you. Robin WAS probably PRETENDING to play the piano at this FAKE performance just like every other member of the group was pretending as well because they were using the recorded version to back them up (only a few violins and both guitars weren't even hooked up to amps). There are many instances where Robin has proven that he played musical instruments (piano being only one of several that he could play). I would suggest that you brush up on Robin's history and I'll just point out one more thing to you and then I'll be done. Robin's voice truly was his instrument on stage. There was no need for him to be up there strumming on a guitar or sitting behind a piano to prove what a great performer he truly was. He wanted his vocals to be perfect each and every time he performed in front of a live audience and, as far as I'm concerned, he achieved his goal. Mission accomplished.

Yes, Barry would have been about 20 probably close to 21, do know that Robin and Maurice were born in 22 December 1949 (so I always estimate their ages using the year 1950) and if I remember correctly Barry was born in 1947, I didn’t look it up but I think he was born in September. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I am just being lazy tonight and not verifying anything.

Yes, his teeth are perfect, he sure paid enough for them, LOL. I liked his 1970's teeth the best. His latest set is affecting his speech unfortunately. Not to be too much stereotyping, but many jokes in the past were always made about British people having bad teeth. Other British artists who gave their teeth a serious renovation job are David Bowie and even former punker Johnny Rotten.
When I was younger I only thought Barry was good looking but as. Got older I started to appreciate Robin’s looks and voice. As someone from The USA who just paid $20,000 to have my teeth fixed I can appreciate someone wanting to fix their teeth......esp someone as handsome as Barry! !
@@saflynn14 - Loved Robin teeth and all. Those huge buck teeth resulted in gorgeous lips, better than Jagger or Tyler. People also need to remember that after WW2 Britain had a lot of rationing of good food and the Gibbs were very poor so I imagine that had a lot of effect on the notorious British teeth. That being said, I've seen a lot of scary teeth in the US to this day!

@@saflynn14 - Actually I think their teeth had a lot of positive effect on their singing. Look at Freddy Mercury too. The shape of teeth and the oral cavity has a lot to do with the quality of their voice. I always thought Robin was cute and later actually handsome and after he got rid of that awful gold filling he had as a child and had some work done his smile was beautiful. I don't judge anybody by their appearance!
@@susieq9801 I have a friend who is a very talented singer and asked her if teeth made a difference in the voice and she said no. Don’t know how true or untrue it is but I still go back to.....if the person is happy then that’s all that counts! 😁👍
