folks - first thing to do in the tropics ( with what has been a wet boat) is buy a humidifier. start the very long process of pulling the water out of the boat. saves on smelly stink, saves on growing your own bugs in what effectively is a glass house
Honestly the previous owners were Italian communicating with them hasn’t been the easiest so we don’t know the full story. What we do know is what is included in the video. At night a ship t-boned our Amel, the anchor of the ship that was hanging off the bow got wrapped up in the rigging of the amel and brought down the main mast, then the ship not knowing about the crash proceeded to drag the amel for a time frame between 1-5 min at which point the amel captain sent up flares and then the ship came to a stop. Untangling of the vessels occurred and the amel limped to the nearest boat yard.
Hi Guys what a great buy. You should see if you can catch up with Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe (from Australia) they have being in that area the last couple of years and have fixed up there old boat and just purchased a new boat and fixed up. The two of them worked out how to get stuff done over there and import duty free etc. Have fun fixing her up.
Mate, you have already won the jackpot by having Isabelle say yes, totally outstripping your natural attractiveness. However hard you experience putting back the boat to 'sailabilty' then it's "All Gravy" having won fair Isabelle's hand .

Well done guys, great to see you excited and back on a boat. Most people would be in tears but your positivity for the future adventures makes the hard work ahead seem an academic part of the process. Best of luck with bringing her back to life. One lucky boat to have found you guys.⛵👌⛵👌⛵🍾
This will be very interesting to watch! You guys are not afraid of hard work which is what is ahead for this project. Above all, focus on your safety when approaching the rehab! Make her seaworthy and capable! Looks like this yacht was once a really nice one. She will be again ! Good luck!
Hé, Good choice with THE SuperMaramu. I love this boat. I have a 1997 and with my 76 years old i am totaly in secure conditions. You will be happy with. Good luck 😊😊😊😊😊
You two certainly picked a boat with good bones. Hope you are able to diagnose the problem with the leak around the rudder before putting boat back in the water. I am happy for you scoring an Amel. You both seem young enough to take on the massive job of getting it back into shape.
Hey on Sailing SV Delos the forward doors can be closed tightly to be made a water tight compartment. You might want to keep that functional. Wow you got a lot of hard work ahead.
I think you two have a lot of work ahead of you and when you get done you will have a fabulous boat that you will know from the inside out and will appreciate your work and boat so much more. Good luck
Wow! That is much bigger than I thought from the original video. Although you have your work cut out for you, the two of you can do anything you put your minds and energy into. Prayers for very few problems and easy solutions. I can't wait for the next episode.
Hey, Kieran. Two things I learned how to say when my wife and I were building our home. "Yes, dear" and "Who do I make the check out to?" Remember those and you and Isabelle will have a great life together. LOL.
I did something similar once. With a home that sat empty for 9 years. Mold, a bad a roof. Etc. I should have emptied the place of every last thing, fix the roof, and scrubbed it clean. I spend so much time bottling all the crap that was inside moving it around and trying to save it. Took me almost 2 years to do a 10-month project. I wish you better luck. I hate heat and humidity 😵 I'm so excited for you. such a wonderful vessel. Imagine the stories you'll have to tell on some beach far away. This is living!!!
What a journey ahead! Wish I had the energy you two have. I think they call it YOUTH. Truly you are doing things I wasted my life just dreaming. So capture memories from the great journey you have embarked upon 🤠
Hörde ett klart och tydligt "NEEEJE" där. I just found your channel, so this is going to make my life happy. And any time, do a menvafan! /Catta från Sundsvall
Hahah! Catta! Välkommen till våran kanal, roligt att du hittade hit. Ja det kan nog stämma, ibland kommer svenskan fram;) Sundsvall, där har jag bott i några år när jag pluggade. Väldigt fin stad och fina minnen där.
Ohh there’s some very fun stuff coming up in future episodes. We need to make it to a different yard and to say things dont go according to plan is an understatement haha. Thanks for watching
it was enough to see Isabelle's enthusiasm to realize that there will be no problems big enough to stop you. In fact there is a lot of cleanup work to be done to figure out what needs to be repaired, before putting the boat in the water you will need to check all seepages, cracks, and drain valves, then you can put Merewether II in the water. However, you have made an incredible bargain for a boat that is an elegant villa. I was moved by Iasabelle's enthusiasms. If I were not disabled I would gladly have come to help you. Why not make 2 videos a week iprimi 3 or 4 months? Until we leave for the world. Good work Bye
Congratulations on your engagement! This going to be so wonderful watching you both repair your new 53 foot sailing vessel. The Amel Supper Maramu is my favorite sailboat of all the UA-cam sailing programs that I watch. I think you will be so much happier on the Amel than you were on the Beneteau. I know you have some real challenges ahead in repairing her. But it will all be worth it. So happy for you both! Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us. Bruce in Boise Idaho
It is so great to see you back - I had missed the video about this boat so I will go back and catch up but you two have been missed! Look forward to all your new adventures.
Despite the daunting tasks ahead you both seem happy to be back in your element. Food looked so delicious. Good luck. Waiting patiently to see the finished product.

A lot od hard work ahead for you but this will become one fabulous boat when the cleanup and repairs are made to restore her. great find, enjoy the tasks ahead. Cheers!!!

Sailing Aquarius has some good tips for your Amel...how to service the bowl thruster and service the propeller shaft...their tips on tuesday cover a lot of service items on their Amel Super. You have a lot of work ahead, best crack on!!
I’ve watched a couple of videos from sailing Aquarius. The guy really knows what he’s doing. I have a lot of respect for his workmanships and also his content creating. I think he’ll be a very good man to talk to 🙌🏼
Nassi Goreg means fried rice. Bami goreng (fried noodles) is also tasty. Try some sambal oelek (traditional Indonesian chili paste) to spice it up. Stay away from uncooked food like salads.
It sounds like from your responses that many of these systems are new for you guys and that is great and certainly exciting. Doug, thanks for the lovely comment. We’re working through some of the issues now and as far as I can see it’s not as bad as we first thought. Thanks for watching mate
