I booked an island tour and Luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center on a complete whim on my layover in Phoenix on the way to the island! At the behest of my Mom who lived in Honolulu for a couple years. I landed in Honolulu on a Monday at 1pm, watched the sunset on Waikiki Beach, got up the next morning and was at the PCC for the Luau all day Tuesday, flew back home super early on Wednesday morning. One of the best trips of my life and probably the best $300 I’ve EVER spent on something. MUCH LOVE FROM TEXAS/TENNESSEE!! 💖
Met Dwayne Johnson briefly in 2001 just after I moved to Los Angeles: we both attended an industry breakfast on the Paramount lot and he gave a brief speech. At that point in his career he was transitioning from pro wrestling to film and TV ("The Scorpion King" was about to be released, his first role as the main protagonist). Super nice guy and he's been through a lot. Great to see this as he's very proud of his Samoan heritage from his mom's side of the family. And for anyone wondering, yes, the Polynesian Cultural Center is definitely worth a few hours of your time: took my family and inlaws there when we visited the North Shore of Oahu during a spring break trip: the activities are fun and the canoe ride around the grounds is relaxing. The ukulele shop is also fun.
I want to see The Rock and Kap do anything together. Travel the world. Be brothers in a movie. Demonstrate their pec-dancing skills. Show up and have a quick match at WWE. Or heck, cook dinner at the Polynesian Cultural Center together and live the life of those that came before them.
I have the true lame claim to fame to have been at the Polynesian Cultural Center that same day, immediately after the Rock. I even had the same tour guide from Samoa who guided the tour for the Rock. (But never actually saw him. This is after all a LAME claim to fame.)
He’s so lucky to have met Kap
Kap was in Hobbs and Shaw
