It really wasn't at all. You could see during the session that the drivers haven't really been here before and don't know it well enough. If the conditions were better there would have been at least 2 seconds on the table with a better understanding/ more practice.

=)))))))) you are joking right? The conditions were awful. Some parts were wet some were dry. How can you think there are only 2 tenths? What world are you on? Haven't you watched Hamilton's other poles? This is not a lap on the limit at all. For Hamilton as i said it was REALLY average. This is really far off from something like the pole in Australia. I don't really care if you see it or not but to think this is just 2 tenths off the best lap possible in these cars? Consider just this: Hamilton was worse than Bottas on the first 2 sectors in this lap and Bottas said after that it was a really bad lap ;) (this could also just be him trying to defend himself but i don't think so seeing this lap now)

Incredibly smooth track surface here. Watching the front suspension movement, it's virtually non-existent until Lewis runs up onto a kerb.

tires: reason pirelli had to shave the tires for Spanish, French and Silverstone GP is because of the new tarmac that they just laid out this year. all teams were blistering during winter testing hence the shaving of the tires.
also some teams will manage this better than others. just like Ferrari is managing the non shaved tires better.
engine: people have been saying this since 2014. "it's the engine", "party modes". Williams and Force India has the same engines and modes per FIA rulings. it's not just the engines but Mercs whole package. chassis, aero and engine is why who they are.
now only if my team can get it right. "4th best chassis" my ass. couldn't even get into Q2 and got beat out by sauber or I should say leclerc.

Man, I love this circuit, really flowy, bunch of high speed corners, wide, but not easy at all, really tricky, and there's "sneaky" spot to gain advantage.

It's funny the way Lewis and some others shift gears. I mean when they downshift you see them barely clicking the left paddle, but when upshifting their hand motion is like they are hammering it to the next gear
You have to admit he is one of the best that has ever raced. The control and precision is just amazing.

Hamilton, I believe, was actually slower than Bottas in the first 2 sectors, but he clawed back all his time in the final sector (The most technical part of the circuit). Mega final sector, I have to say.

I don't believe either scenario is the case. It's just a very tricky chicane heading into with speed and especially getting on the correct exit-line is a pain in the ass. As soon as you go into it, you have to immediately get the car back over a little bit to the left to get the power down early.
Ideal line goes straight across the white line on pit exit in the 1st corner!Seems a little dangerous
Great lap from Lewis, the track was basically "fresh" from the rain washing away all the rubber, Hamilton got it together and banged in a pole lape. Nicely done.
He was looking fastest all weekend, hopefully he can complete it with a win.

What like about this track is how it can easily break a drivers rhythm with the sections and wide run off areas.
So expect plenty of mistakes and lead changes regardless of track position.

Ah, so the new engine doesn't like an updated 2016 engine anymore, but more like an updated 2017 engine, which is better. This upgrade is probably a significant step forward for Mercedes, which they pretty much needed this year. Let's see if Mercedes can also get pole on the Red Bull Ring... If that happen, Ferrari will start to panic.

This track is a combination of Korea GP, Baku GP and Austin GP imo. Korea with the long sweeping left and right handers with double apex's, Baku with the highspeed corners + sectors and Austin in the sense that there is enough run off for an aircraft to land in.

People often say that only merciless tracks are good. I HIGHLY disagree. I love those massive runoff areas where minor mistakes can be made and the driver can still fight back as he closes up the gap again.
In the end, isn't that what good races are all about? Fighting head to head, defending and making often crazy moves to overtake? It sure is. That's what Paul Ricard is all about and that's precisely why is it my favorite track in the world.
