Quick Note: Forgot to mention that you may need to grind the guide pins on the inside of the calipers a bit to clearance the rotor. Very easy to do with a small rotary tool. Use the Audizine Posts below for guidance

Please do everyone a favor and keep making videos. Need to keep the b5s alive !!
Thanks!! Will do!
B5 also applys to Passats
@@b13nissan and your point is? You sound stupid lol.
@@b13nissan That ain't an Audi tho, thats a Passat B5.
It's funny, I stumbled onto your video. Own a Volvo S60 and already had S60r brakes but now have 18z calipers with Benz rotors mounted thanks to what I learned from this video so the first Volvo using Cayenne calipers owes it to your vid.
Hahaha glad u was able to help in someway!
Really enjoying your videos. Thanks for making the effort, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying there's not enough recent B5 S4 content being uploaded.
I put the exact same set up on my car, I machined the ears on the caliper 1.6mm so that the caliper is exactly centred on the rotor.
I also pre-primed the calipers by drawing fluid through with a big syringe prior to connecting to the hard lines and final bleeding. Really sped up the bleeding process and my pedal feel is rock solid. I've heard a lot of people complain about pedal feel with the 17z due to bigger volume but I'm convinced it's all in the bleeding because mine feel awesome.
Good idea on sing the syringe to force fluid through. Literally genius!!! And thank you for watching man, these cars are amazing and deserve more more from the community.
I don't have a B5. I don't have an Audi. I don't have Brembo 17Z calipers.
I do have an interest in everything related to all of these things, including your video. 👍
I’m waiting to get mine back from powder coating went with a matte black 💪 stud conversion helps with keeping the rotor on too 🙃
Nice!! That matte black is gonna lock sick!! And yeah that would definitely help too lol
Working on a few B5 S4s' right now. This was a really great video. Great angles and audio. Well put together. Great job.
Hit me up if your around the DC area.
Thanks man. Definitely will do when I make it down there.
Great video! I also run 17z on my S4. Its a easy and "cheap" brake mod on theese cars. I use 330x28 brembo rotors from a Mercedes. Brembo part.nr. 09.A448.11
How are the Benz rotors with fade? I went with the v70 rotors because they were a few mm thicker for larger heat capacity
@@CIPGAS I have only driven 4-5000km on these and have no vibrations or any problems with them. But this is not a racecar and it is not driven hard.
I didn't notice any difference between the brembo 330x28 and the zimmerman 330x32 I had.
Changed them because they were old and rusty, also I like the clean rotors better vs. slotted/drilled rotors =)
Ok gotcha. I might have to switch to the Benz rotors on the next change
I powder coated mine and installed them and they look so damn good. Nice to get those stock calipers tf out of there. Also did the stud conversion it's a life saver lol. Now to get my k24's on and drive it again haha
Yeah man these brakes are a huge upgrade in looks and pretty good stopping power. Let me know how it goes with the k24’s.
They look so good! Some of these definitely will come after my giac tune
Thanks!!
Nice video! Im cunsidering building up my A4 B5 to make a fun street car, and your videos will definately help!
Thanks man! Best of luck on the a4 build. What plans do you have for the 1.8t.
Hey, thanks for the good video, I have a set of 18 Z calipers with the S4 B6 rotors, I guess you don’t have to drill out the center bore or the lug nut holes with that particular rotor choice for this kit. Couple questions I can kindly ask you. I have a 2001 Audi S4, so I have the steel uprights, and your video you mentioned grinding the uprights down, maybe you have the aluminum ones? I’ve heard that the aluminum ones are a little bigger and stick out more and need to be ground down, but the steel ones may not need to be ground down I’m wondering about this, and also in your video I didn’t see you mentioning anything about having to grind down the brake pad guide pins so they don’t hit the road or, and some of the videos showing people having to grind down the break guide pins so they don’t hit the rotor. Do you have any insight on these two questions, greatly appreciate it.
Hey man!
On the b6 rotor you won’t have to drill anything out cause it’s made to fit an Audi bore and bolt pattern unlike the Volvo rotors used for the 17z. The ones for the b6 are a bit thinner at 30 mm which is not really an issue unless you like to resurface your rotors or want the extra mass for heat capacity. Most use the 2002 ML55 AMG rotor on 18z’s.
As per the grinding you’ll have to grind your steel uprights. Im you’ll see in the video where you have to grind. The rotors all have a different offset than what came on the car and they will hit if the upright is not ground.
@@CIPGAS thank you kindly for your informative reply, really appreciate it, I’ve been moving slow on this project, so you’re insight will help me get it done. He didn’t mention if you needed to grind down the brake pad, guidepin, yes, I have seen in some of the videos with this kid the brake pad guide pins also hit the rotor, hopefully we don’t have to do that.
Thank you again kind of you.
Getting ready to this install on my B5. Not sure if your still replying to comments on this post. I just have the one question about the rotors. I red through the comments and saw the b6 s4 rotors were used by one guy. Would prefer myself to stay audi parts. Will the b6 rotors work with the 17z setup or is the volvo rotor far superior, and what years are the volvo rotos available.
Thank you and i enjoy eatching all your videos. They are awesome
Excellent video man mad love from Jamaica.
Thank you!!
Thank you for the great video, I started the mod yesterday. I went with the S4 B6 rotor option as you don’t have to bore out the center or the lug nut holes, and I didn’t have to grind down the upright but I had to grind down the two outer brake pad retaining stubs so they did not rub on the outer rotor surface. I’m wondering if you had to do this? Maybe it has to do with the offset of the different rotor options? Thank you for your input and great videos
Hey man, I had to grind the pad retainers just forgot to include that in the video.
@@CIPGAS thank you kindly for your reply and information. I ordered a set of the Mercedes ML 55 rotors to try those instead of the S4 B6 rotors. If I use the M 16 bolt rather than the bolt and nut kit, and I retap the threads, will I be able to use a different caliper in the future? Thank you much.
@@CIPGAS thank you again, I was just out looking for a step drillbit to drill out the rotors, and I think in your video you said use a quarter inch, did you mean three-quarter inch? Because 1/4 inch would be too small. Thank you for clarifying.
@@williamhansen1580 yeah 3/4”
Can you put v8 vw touareg stock brake on 1.8t Audi b5 Quattro?
I have a b5 v6 12v, happyness of the Chanel, Brazil! !!!
Thank you!
Dumb question : with the 17Z brembo kit you can still put the original 17" wheel on right ?
Not dumb and yes the original wheels clear them just fine
@@CIPGAS Ok cool 👍 btw the 4 pots for the rear (cayenne/touareg/Q7) can also be adapted on the B5 ?
Great content my guy, make b5s4 great again
Lololol thanks!!
Can I just switch the two side calipers, so I don't need to switch the bleeder?
You’ll have to switch the bleeders. The calipers have different size pistons for the leading side so that you get even paid wear. So the only way to install them in the correct orientation is to switch the bleeders and crossovers
@@CIPGAS one more question. Isnt the brake line hiting the cv to much? Btw, great vid sir!
Hey great video, I know alot of these audi's are the same will this work on a 2013 a7?
I don’t doubt you can get the calipers to for but I am not very familiar with that chasis.
Im doing this on the allroad!!!!! Time to junkyard hunt. Wait, what size wheel clears this set up?
It’s supposed to be a 17 and most 17’s will actually clear but not all. Stock wheels do clear these.
@@CIPGAS what about 18s?
Can you provide a bit more info for the 18Z upgrade, what rotors and brake pads can I use?
What’s a popular/ easy upgrade for the rears?? This looks very doable and I’ll definitely be doing this!
Popular is the dual caliper setup
You use a a cayenne rear caliper and a Wilson’s e brake caliper. But the bracket is a bit expensive
Nice setup , are you planning on trackdays? I did almost the same but I used 18z . The problem I faced during trackdays was disk warp (those from Mercedes are too thin for heavy use) . I ended up using local (Brazilian)stock car rotors . Quick question where did you got the pistons for the rebuild? Mine’s re all all cracked due to severe use lol .
Yeah hoping on doing 5 track events this year. I went with the Volvo rotors for that reason. Figured they would have a higher thermal capacity. And I contacted rotor lab for the pistons. They were able to ship me 2 sets.
One question, what is the size of the bore after drilling?
Center bore should be 57.1mm
How much diameter have the rotors?
They are 330mm
4uattros4 I have the 18z for my a5 2008 Quattro. The Mercedes rotors do you have a link?
Yes ! B5 content more please! You plan to do the resrs too?? If you do please do a install video!
Thanks! I’ll keep it coming. What is resrs?
4uattros4 suspect they mean “rears” ??
Is it possible to swap the brembo brake line connection to the caliper with the bleed valve so that they switch sides?
But there is no connection line slot on the opposite side of the caliper (where the vent valves are). Dont know if will it fit or if is safe to do this.
Is the rubber that is on conection line touching the brake caliper? Is it because there is no vibration.
not sure if i understood the switch part... you are saying switch the bleeder but i think you mean flip the caliper to get the bleeder on the top right? because the way you said it looks like you gotta remove that bar and put it at the bleeder and vice versa.
So you can’t flip the caliper. it is directional and they are labeled for each side. On the Tuareg and the Cayenne the calipers are mounted towards the front of the vehicle unlike the s4. So to keep each caliper on the correct side so that the pistons stay in the correct orientation you cannot flip them. You have to swap the crossover to the bottom and the bleeders to the top.
@@CIPGAS oh ok i see now because i just refurbished 18z one i will install with 360mm rotors. so i will do as you said i will switch bleeders.
thank you by the way
I should have gone with big breaks when I bought new ones last year... my next car I’ll do all the big upgrades lol
Nice!!!!
Same for 18z’s? Just the rotor size I am guessing? And does the bleeding need to be changed as well?
Yeah everything would be the same except the rotors. And yeah the bleeder screw will have to be flipped on 18z’s as well.
Have you tried putting a 17inch wheel on to see if they fit with those brakes
hey, great car, can u tell me what is d biggest disc which fits in z17? 334/32???
Not sure about the biggest but I run a 330mm from a Volvo v60r
@@CIPGAS i.m looking now from sl55 r129 amg 334/32mm Brembo 09.D231.11 for Z17, i think that must work. just 67mm disk hub on 68mm and voila i think :)
No need for the washers? My bolt kit came with 4 washers. Putting 18z on my b7 s4 with ml55 rotors
Hey 4UATTROS4 when you installed your 17z kit did your calipers seem offset?
They did not seem offset, che al that the mating surface between the calipers and the upright is flat and free of corrosion
Loving your videos. I’m currently doing a BBK and planted seat brackets too and your videos are so clear, your not running pad wear sensors?
Glad to help! And no I’m not running any sensors. Just been dealing with the light for now hahahahaha.
I just left the old pad wires in and soldered the wires together then heat shrink.stops the brake pad warning light coming on
thank you for this if you have any suggestions to get upright post for audi b5 let me know
If you are looking for one your Best option would be to find a local part out or a car yard.
Nice work man ! Do u need dust shield ( pros and cons )?
I don’t run them. It helps with cooling the brakes to keep them off but it does get more brake dust literally everywhere lol.
Love the video!! I have a b5 a4 1.8 do I need a caliper bracket to mount on those brembos?? Plz help
To mount the on an A4 you’ll need to switch to the S4 upright/steering knuckle
After driving my stage 2 s4 in the canyons with stock brakes I decided to do an upgrade cause the stock brakes are absolute trash. Your videos literally saved me hours of searching on the forum. Thank you so much! Can you make a video on how to change the center driveshaft bearing?
Can I use the same exact parts but use a set a 18Z calipers? What rotors will fit with the same hub bore as a b5 s4 with a 18Z?
Happy the videos helped!! And I’m actually looking into the options for the center support bearing. Video should be out later this year.
They just bolt on to the stock b5 s4 hubs ?
Yes just need the hardware kit and the small modifications to the uprights to clear the rotor
Nice video,
My calipers (17zs) are away for powdercoating
Orderd al parts but what size is the drill bid.
And what are the specs of your rims i really like that look
Thanks they are 19x8.5 et45 with a 13mm spacer
Hey bro i need some help, i wanna install the 18z on my A5 3,2 2008 quattro. I need the rotors you can help me with this info? diameters, Im from Chili and i need all the info or part number.
Not sure man. I’m not very familiar with brake setup and upgrades on the b8 chasis.
This isnt a bolt on upgrade..caliper wont fit because of the rotors. What's the fix???
If you have the right calipers and rotors they bolt right on…
Great video 🙌 thanks
Thank you!!
Are you sure it’s 1/4 inch for the Volvo lug holes??
3/4 inch holes
I have a regular audi a4 b5 station wagon 1.8 fwd. What would I require to bolt these brakes to my audi? I understand I need the s4 uprights. Do they just bolt right in place of the stock upright and would I have to change the driveshafts?
Also great video!👍👍
Youd need the s4 uprights and they bolt right up to the upright. Depending on rotor selection and if you use aluminum or steel uprights, you may have to modify the caliper mounting tabs or the upright
Also depending on the year of a4 you could have issues with the axle spline size as pre facelift is smaller spline, i believe 2000 and 2001 were the larger years and iirc would accept the s4 upright
Do you have the link for the rebuild kit ? Thanks
This kit is no longer available but FCP Euro offer a few other kits priced similarly and good quality.
hello i have one pair brembo 18z to install in my car audi A4 B8 Year 2007 is the same process the rotors is the same? thx
Hey man. I am not sure of the install on these in the b8 platform. The rotors would have to be different because the center bore is bigger than it is on the b5
Use a stock b6,7 s4 rotor they come with 345mm
Thank you sooo much for your video. Gtz bro!
Welcome 👍
You know if you can fit 17" rpf1s over these? IDC if I need spacers
Not sure man! They would look awesome tho!
@@CIPGAS trying to get the lightest wheel possible
Do you need new install hardware for upgraded stoptech calipers as well?
Yes you do. New grade 10 bolt and locking nut.
Can this setup work on a audi a6 2.7t 04
Sadly it won't. The uprights/knuckles don't have mounting holes in the same offset.
What wheels are on your car ??
Audi Rotors from a B8 S4
Are these the same calipers as the stage 4 big brake kit on ecs?
Also 18z i assume fit under 18in rims too
Yes they are
Yeah they fit under almost all 18 inc wheels
Hello! Anyone knows, can you put 18’ wheels with z18/z17? I toughz oz ultraleggera 18, ET35
I know this is older now but general rule is 17z can fit 17s and 18z can fit 18s
Did you have to bleed them after install?
Yes definitely had to bleed them after install
Will the 17z fit on an 8p?
Not sure
I love you
Lmao!! ❤️
instant like.
Thanks!!
Now do a rear video
Soon. The rears are surprisingly much more expensive to get done
With all that power coming 17z are not enough.. Stop tech ST60 and michellin pilot sports are the best.. My experience the lighter the wheels rotors and tires.. We spend all these money on power but not on stopping power is bad idea.. I always see all these very powerful cars with cheap tires. I don't undestand.. Just saying once you hit 150mph very quickly you need to stop effective. Love your videos..
Thanks man!! Very true statement there spending moneyed stopping and absolutely agree with the tire recommendations. I’m On pilot sport 4S and love them.
First. Lol
