- Is it true that you can find an apartment in the Dominican Republic for $200? Yes, depending on where you want to live. Many of the apartments at this rate are located in typical Dominican neighborhoods. As mentioned in my last video about the $300 apartment, typically these apartments are in older-style buildings with no amenities. Also, they come completely unfurnished. But if you are looking to save money or on a budget, a place like this could possibly work for you. Enjoy!

Actually if you choose to live in other parts of Dominican Republic your rent can considerably be reduced.
I have lived in Cabrera(oceon side) and Constanza( beautiful mountains) for the past 20 years with combined rents of (4500pesos+ 3000 pesos=7500 pesos) or less than $150 U.S. for both and recently decided to no longer travel back and forth and now permanently live in Constanza paying only 3000pesos and soon moving to a very modern brand new 2 bedroom home that will rent for 7000 pesos monthly($130 U.S.).
This lady is very realistic in her stimations and I thank her again.
This is a beautiful country to live and I recommend highly specially if your intention is to help some of Dominican needy brothers and sisters.
Yes that is right! if you choose to stay in smaller towns outside of big cities and tourist areas you will be surprise of how much you can save.

Wow, in the US that apartment would be over 1500 a month depending on the state. In LA or NYC 3,000 a month.

In San Isidro, Juan bosh also (Santo Domingo Este not far from the military base and the airport (so no criminals there)) for a little bit more expensive you have a brand new apartment, for like 350-400 you have a brand new very good 2 bedrooms flat. This is where we were Staying during our month in the DR.
Those appartment are in gated communities with kids park, hospital, restaurant ect.
And in San Isidro you have the military airbase so there won't be no criminals there, super mercado Bravo with smart fit at walking distance, lot of plazza, supermercado Ole not far, lot of constructions
This is where we plan on buying an apartment for our AirBnB
San Isidro is a growing area and relatively inexpensive at the moment. Good area to invest

And also concerning, because my husband (born and raised in Santo Domingo Este) and I are renting a tiny room for $91 CAD a month (with no amenities!), and it's not even as big as the second smaller room in this video. I'd love to connect and see if we could find something with more value for our money.

There are a lot of places you can get for that price or less. I actually know a place in villa mella, north Santo Domingo, that has less than a yr. Old 2br. apartments for 4000 pesos the area is a little rough but it's building up. It's on a street called Mata Los indios

TY for sharing the content. In the US, I'm generally accustomed to using websites to find apartments. I've come to find that you have to walk around. As gringo, I may not have the context/ insight to browse through areas. Your videos give one insight a out the areas.

Well I agree that walking around to find what you want to rent on a specific area is good but we do have many websites that can do an apartment search. example: corotos.com, mercadolibre.com.do, encuentra24.com, point2home.
I found a place in Santo Domingo for 5000 DOP (currently $90 US). It's a piece of crap but it'll help me save this summer to get a place for double that this fall.
Yes that will work. You can still find place like that here but it will be in the barrios and a piece crap like you said but if help the goal that you have it works.

I'm glad to see these videos. I know they do this in Asian countries a lot. They show very expensive places to very cheap places. With cheap I mean $60 to $150 a month. For me I like this apartment. I know for me I like to have a safe neighborhood, air conditioning, and hot water. If I have those things I'm good. It doesn't matter if around expats or not.

good video:))) typical dominican style apartment, in the santo domingo norte area....the further from Districto Nacional the better the rents....if one owns a vehicle, you could find them even cheaper then that, if you don't mind driving 20 to 30 minutes from the city center.....

Sadly, they make it extremely impossible for foreigners to rent an apartment.
It's no difference than a foreigner going to the US to rent an apartment. They have strict requirements in the States too. Everyone is protecting their investment. The only thing they require here that makes it difficult is to have a Dominican cosigner and really that's standard.
Something around Santiago las cabelleros
It's a touchy subject for me because I've seen 1st hand how this affects the locals.....incoming exapts pushing COL higher. I saw it in Costa Rica, parts of Mexico, Panama, and even El Salvador.
I think ES and DR are very comparable. Both have huge stateside populations, and their diaspora has exploded with money. El Salvador is Los Angeles and D.C. money, DR is NY money.
$200 is nothing to us. But the avg Dominican is lucky to earn, 20,00 pesos? Hardly enough to cover living expenses plus groceries plus transportation. Remittances its sustaining both those countries.

They typically have a list of apartments they can recommend, however, most realtors don't even work in this price range.

There are some new places in bella Vista around the same price with parking and security, i also have a 3/2 there for under $200. It's about 10 minutes away from Buena Vista actually it's a nicer area

I don't know of any place at the moment. Keep in mind these places are for long-term rentals, not short-term. In that case you will need an Airbnb.

If I was offered comfortable living income I'd love to live there !
Define "good paying". But for professional jobs they can start around $30,000 RD per month and unskilled can be $20,000 RD and below per month. These are just ballpark numbers.

Santo Domingo Norte in Villa Mella
The only issue with this property is the location. It's in SD Norte, not too far from the Distrito Nacional, where most people work, but it's a nightmare to cross the bridge to go into the city every day. There's the Metro which takes you downtown, but if you have a car, or plan on using Uber be ready to be in traffic jams every day at all times.

In Cabarete i found a 2 bedroom... Wifi.. pool...all utilites paid.. 5 minutes from beach.. 350$

I mentioned this in the video that it was safe for anybody. The only challenge is in neighborhoods like this everyone speaks Spanish.
