for some edits it amplifies a dramatic or big moment before the beat drops and sometimes it's also in sync with the beat or it can be used as a smooth slow flicker just to make the shot more intense and dramatic. Plus it makes a dull still shot more interesting to watch because it keeps your eyes active to focus on the main character / object in the shot
