Having a 2024 V7 I'm not sure the upgrades will be noticeable. The front brake already feels good enough. The forks - I like that the upside down forks mean it's now black at the top (the chrome at the top of current bike is the only bit of chrome and looks slightly odd). However, 1mm extra diameter won't add much stifness and if you look they have removed the brace between the fork legs at fender level. Maybe that's because the 1mm adds just enough theuy no longer need it? Yes the new fork design has less unsprung weight... but they reversed that win by adding an extra (and uneccessary in my view) brake disc and caliper. It'll be heavier at the hub than before so unsprung weight is worse now. Design wise the front end looks better but I doubt anyone could actually notice any improvement in suspension. Braking maybe.
Holy moly when you mentioned cruise control when I really wasn't expecting it, I'm ecstatic haha. Been eyeing up the V7 for years ever since getting my A2 and now got full A anyway. Shaft drive and torquey twin with unbeaten character, this new model might just be my next bike.
Real pity that it does not have twin clocks or the red of the le Le Mans but I am gonna buy one anyway and just came back from the dealer so I can PX my existing V7III carbon.
Yes yes yes...Moto Moto Moto Guzzi. All good... but shame about the dash. Previous edition also had two stage traction control. Cruise and IMU welcome... USD fork and twin disks look great and will help pull it up no doubt. Thanks Bob.
Love the lime green I think Guzzi had this on a sport model back in the early 2000 s, think it had a red frame too. Thanks for all the excellent reporting from eicma
If I didn't already have my V7III Carbon Dark I would be all in on the V7 Sport in the classic green/yellow color. I owned a 2010 Cafe Classic in the same color.
I like the grey one a lot, and the new features. And I love how it is simple and basic it is. I own a 2024 V7 Corsa and it is outstanding. Also, the V7III did have 2 modes, a rain and standard mode, but certainly no lean sensitive traction control. Thanks for the vid.
I have a V7 850 Centenario. I would be falling over myself to buy the new Sport if only they put the V85TT (85 ? bhp) motor in it. I fail to see why they won't ... keep the 65 bhp motor for the standard Stones !.
I welcome the fuel gauge and cruise. Also looks like the exhaust was redesigned. Rear shocks are different on the sport vs stone/special. Display is also redesigned.
Nice upgrades - love the modes and CC, great they kept the round dash. Have always loved the large tank capacity and shaft drive. One thing I wish they do is throw in a few spicy custom options, that shiny chrome tank version comes to mind.
Great short initial review Bob 😊. V7 Sport looks quite interesting to me having a v85TT E5+ which I really like and a Z900RS. Whilst the Z900RS is also a great bike I will definitely look into the V7 Sport as a potential replacement. Moto Guzzi all the way for me. They produce such beautiful bikes for a relaxing riding style 😀
Thanks for the upload. Nice features, but as it is a retro bike, I believe it's important for Guzzi not to go over the top, since it remains a very reasonnable bike. Any impression on the riding position? Upright ? Sportier than the other V7s ?
I was already considering picking up a used V7 850 as my next bike, but I like some sporty riding so I had some doubts about the brakes and suspension not being as sharp as I'd like for that, but this probably will be. Now my big question is what the pricetag will end up being in my market and if it's worth the premium. If it had an analog dash and the 80hp engine from the V85 It would be a must buy, but alas.
Looks really nice, however the fact that the power/torque figures aren't improved much is a big let down for me. I currently own a V7 and it's a fantastic looking bike and great fun to ride. However after 4 years and many miles, the lack of power is the reason I'm probably going to trade it in for a different bike.
I added a BMW R nineT to my stable. The two bikes are very similar in size, weight, shaft drive, across the frame twin engine and even, I would argue, looks. With them being so similar the thing that differentiates them, of course, is the 110 bhp on the Bimmer !.
I’m surprised there isn’t more power, but I suspect there’s a lot of tuning capability to be tapped into. They finally ditched the bottleneck 38mm TB for the V85’s 52mm TB. Give it a year or two and I’d bet on seeing 80+hp from lightly modded versions.
@@justinmckeown9029 well the engine is the same that was mounted to the V85tt until the last update (my 2024) that has added the variable timing. That engine developed 80 hp (crankshaft) being fully euro5 compliant and street legal.
This is like some of my wishes came true! I always liked the V7 but thought its front part (forks and single-disc brakes) was its weakest point, both in terms of looks and performance. Now that this is addressed, I may get my hands on one. Love to see that lime green color come back and would surely be my pick, without any second thoughts! Rider modes on a 67 hp bike is a joke. At least I hope they got the engine revving a bit higher (1.000 - 1.500 rpm) in "sport" mode.
Is that the only dash available? When I rode a V7 earlier this year it had a very similar dash which I was not a fan onf, but other models at the dealership had the traditional (and much better-looking) analog gauges. The uncentered digital dash on this does not fit the vibe of the rest of the bike.
The twin analogues are on the 'Special' models currently. Not sure if they'll keep that going forward? You can get a kit to centralise the single LCD dash (reverso moto do one) but it's still a dated LCD at the end of the day.
Love V7's bikes. They are fantastic machines with a torquey engine, fabolous fuel tank, great styling... but a gearbox that is a joke in terms of speed. However, I would like to have one of these in my garage.
V85 gets 80 bhp from the same engine. Probably within a year or two they will release it in V7 Sport Special with green tank and red frame, only to make V7 Sport owners to feel bad.
@@fiorentinomarioRegarding Special edition a choice between latest and previous generation would be a difficult one. The fact it not only got LCD instead of double clocks, but also it is an old LCD, without a fuel gauge, is like adding an insult to an injury.
The only thing i don't like are the color options. Wish there were more. I've always loved basically all the color options ive seen (except for the v7 III carbon shine, was never a fan of chrome) but the grey seems kinda boring since its glossy (however if it has a metallic look, id be fine with that) and i dont care for the green color as well. Hopefully the grey looks better in person because I definitely want one!!
3:57 As a V7 Centenario owner I'm stunned by the Sport and I can tell you with utmost certainty that TFT would kill the whole idea of the bike. I don't want it and NOBODY who is V7 positive wants it. Categorically. More purist members of our V7 faith would vote for analogue dual clock but I thing the LCD is dead perfect for the bike.
Couldn’t ride it for half an hour without discomfort when I tried a V85 the other week. Great seat and looks to die for but too vibey for me. Might be my boots or maybe I’m just sensitive but I was gutted. Wanted to love that bike so much.
I ride my Guzzi V7 850 for hundreds of kms in a day. I have no problems what so ever with comfort and don't think about or even notice what little vibes that there are ... until a question like this comes up 🙂
I don't feel the vibes are an issue. It more shakes than vibrates. Get a lot less issues at foot and seat area than the SV650 in terms of vibes. I also prefer the seat on the V7. I'd say it's a comfy bike.
The current V7s don't need dual discs. Just adds unsprung weight. The USD forks might be an improvement... TBD. I don't like bar end mirrors so that's actually a negative for me. Overall I'd still take the quite handsome Special with the spoke wheels, twin clocks, chrome, and great mirrors.
Fully agree. Front suits the bikes power levels and intended riding style already. Adding an extra disc and caliper just adds a load of unsprung mass (meaning the tiny gain from the USD fork is lost and then some). Rear brake is a shocker. I thought my Honda was bad but this one! People on the forum upgrade to EBC discs and pads all round but as my bike is new that'll wait (spent enough for now!).
Should I swap my 2022 V7 850 Store Centenario (3000km on the clock) for this new Sport? I mean, finally a decent fork and two disc brakes with radial clips, that's all I wanted to upgrade my bike. I'm confortable enough with the hp.
Ignore the unsprung weight benefit of upsidedown forks as this is lost by adding that extra disc and caliper. Ignore the stiffness improvements too - 1mm diameter isn't huge and the brace at fender level has gone by the look of it. If the spring/damping is better it might still be worth it. Adjustability only really helps if you are heavier or lighter than average riders manufacturers design for or for track days (but this bike isn't really sold for that). Looks wise the new fork for the Sport model is a big win in my eyes. Twin discs must improve the stopping power but I find the single handles it well enough for me. The rear isn't great - shame they didn't improve that.
I am looking at buying the current special edition withe the arrow cans, red shocks etc,is it worth hanging on for the ,2025 model,& when is it likely to appear in the UK.
I have the SE and although I love the looks of the sport I'm not in a mind to change and don't feel I should have waited. Current single disc is fine. The 'win' of removing unsprung weight on the fork is lost by adding an extra brake. Stiffness increase isn't going to be noticeable as they removed the brace at fender level and it's only 1mm difference in diameter. Adjustability is only necessarry if you are considerably lighter or heavier than average or you want to do track days (maybe not the bike for those anyway). You can get good deals on 2024 SE at present. You could use the savings for other stuff - Mistral throttle body cone, ceramic coating, phone mount etc. The Arrow cans sound amazing - not sure the new Sport has a special exhaust looking at it?
Not convinced the new fork will be more rigid. 1mm difference in diameter won't add much stiffness and it also appears to have lost the bridge connecting the fork legs at fender level. If anything it might have more flex? Nice to see unsprung weight of the fork reduced... but thats more than offset by adding an extra disc and caliper up front - so again doubful there will be a noticable improvement. Cruise and IMU are good additions although as a naked it's not a mile munchers first choice and as a torque rich retro it's not a track day bike or huge corner carver. The outgoing version I think says 80% of torque from 3000 revs so 90% from 3500 might not be huge difference again? (I could be wrong on those figures as it's a while since I lookedatreviews of the 24 model). I have the 2024 SE and love it. I love the look of this sport too but thankfully don't feel the need to rush out and swap! Asthetics are biggest draw for me to this new one - black tops of the forks and black rear springs (I like that the red ones on the SE make it stand out but they are bright!). With the Arrow exhausts already giving me a touch more torque than a base model I could add a Mistral velocity cone thingy on the airbox interface and maybe match this new ones figures? Front brake is decent enough for how i ride.
Performance for a classic Bike like Triumph speed twin 900 or RE 650... Sure it is no panigale, but you should compare Apples with Apples and then the rating is good. And the name Sport is a memory to the old sport model. But I expect you are not the kind of person who understand such things and you are not the kind of person the bike is for.
I hope this gets launched in india since Piaggio is planning to launch it in india in 2025. It is much better than Triumph Speed twin 900 in some ways. Like no chain maintenance and a 21ltr fuel tank ❤ for city and highway use.
This would’ve been a great opportunity for moto guzzi to do a real v7 sport with more power and slightly sportier seating position. As Triumph did away with the Thruxton and massacred the speed twin it would have been an easy buy. The fact they didn’t do a v7 racer in year really is a crying shame. As this v7 sport has nothing in common with the models history the grey paint job seems more appropriate to me.
@breaker19rmr That's a shame. And for what? To shave a few bucks per unit? If I wanted to stare at the screen, I would buy a tablet. And if I didn't care about style, I would buy modern insect styled moto anyway. Cheaping out on dash is also such a weird decision. It's the one part of your motorcycle you will be glancing at most often, after all.
Must admit I'm not a fan of the twin analogue gauges on the special. Glad my Special Edition gets the single dash - it does need an upgrade though. Love the indicator lights but the LCD looks dated. I might one day centralise it too (someone does a kit for that) but not sure yet.
The beefier looking suspension has been long overdue especially as it pertains to the V7's looks. It looks much more substantial than the flimsy looking ones on previous models.
It does look better but adding 1mm diameter and removing the brace at fender level won't add any more stiffness. Adding an extra disc and caliper will add a lot more unsprung mass than the upside down design saved. So it's only in the looks department the new fork wins.
@@thebrowns5337 You confirm my own suspicions about that. Even so like you say its looks only but its welcomed as for too long the front end always looked akin to a Simson moped or something. As always, MG moves slowly in the direction of progress and evolution lol.
@@shmac96 lol. Reverso Moto do some nice aluminium tubes that can be fitted to the top of the forks (covering the chrome) on the current V7s. Of course it means temorarily removing the handlebars and headlight but to be fair that doesn't look too involved watching their instruction video. Could even fit their dash centralising bit at the same time. Just don't watch the video on their exhaust system - you'll want one and then you'll check the price!
I love my V7. This doesn't have enough for me to make the switch, however. Plus, they still didn't fix my biggest complaint about the bike: the god damn off-centered clauster. The bike is so slick and harmonious. Why, why, just why would you want to break this harmony when an off-centered gauge cluster. Why. WHY.
Luckily there are aftermarket places that make brackets to do just that. I did it for mine from an Italian company that specializes in V7 when I had mine and it definitely made it look much better. Not tough to switch out either
After a year of niggling faults I took a big financial hit and traded my V7 in for a Suzuki. That amusing mirror incident is typical of the quality issues some Guzzis have sadly.
For a noob like me, I'm not unhappy to have modes. Or even cruise. And they've squeezed a bit more power and torque out of it, so if ride-by-wire helped there, I'm happy. I've deposited a V7 Sport, so... all the useless additions didn't put me off at all.
The V7’s are gorgeous and full of character.
The twin disc and updated fork are real upgrades. Like the green!
Having a 2024 V7 I'm not sure the upgrades will be noticeable.

Thank you for this video. The V7 is my favorite motorcycle. If I ever buy another motorcycle it will be a V7.

Hi Bob, enjoying your EICMA output. You even managed to avoid getting the "now look", count too high!

Loving this, very nice & very interested. Definitely the green one for me too.
the previous model V7 also had 2 TC modes - one & two - "one" (road) being less intrusive & "two" (rain) being more intrusive
It also can be fully switched off, which is like a 3rd mode lol
Two is meant to be used while running in too apparently.
I really appreciate the simple dash.
I don’t. I prefer by far the twin clocks

I was hoping for this one too, to be honest. But the improvements in the front and in the finish are quite serious.

Oh dear oh dear… is the analogue speedo even an option anymore?
I think it's been removed from the V7 Special, we will have to wait to see the production model launch of course.
0:37 which is it then? It can’t be both…
ALSO: it finally has a proper fuel gauge. It now has everything 🙌
Ghost in the machine! LOL!
Brother, I feel that those 3-stars in those categories are generous. Maybe 2-2.5. I just don’t see anything “sporty” about it, I’m sorry.
If your going to make a sport version it should be painted Ferrari Shiny red. Don’t you think?
The weirdest thing is the dash on a side instead of central
They should have mounted a clip on.
I hope this gets launched in india since Piaggio is planning to launch it in india in 2025. It is much better than Triumph Speed twin 900 in some ways. Like no chain maintenance and a 21ltr fuel tank ❤ for city and highway use.
I’ll keep my 16 V7S it still looks better to me personally. A special should not have mag wheels and an afterthought of a fuel cap.
Shame it still has the ugly digital dash...
Give us double gauge like in special! It looks so much better.
I cannot stand modern dashes
@@MrDarkoiVFrom the pics I’ve seen, the Special gets the single gauge dash this year too…ugh
@breaker19rmr That's a shame.
You also have to look towards the aftermarket for a bracket which puts the gauge in the middle. One cluster off to the side has always bugged me.
@ I guess you talk about Baak. Might be wrong, but they don’t seem to do it for the 850.
Reverso Moto do one. Check out thei pipes too - the sound!
After a year of niggling faults I took a big financial hit and traded my V7 in for a Suzuki. That amusing mirror incident is typical of the quality issues some Guzzis have sadly.
5:03 was the first and only time i saw this robot happy 😅
RE readying int750 to rule this segment
Would still prefer these lcd screens than triumphs ugly 50/50 lcd/TFT dash they're slapping on their new models
ride by wire is useless, modes are useless
Good job you don't have to ride it then, hey? 🤭
For a noob like me, I'm not unhappy to have modes. Or even cruise. And they've squeezed a bit more power and torque out of it, so if ride-by-wire helped there, I'm happy. I've deposited a V7 Sport, so... all the useless additions didn't put me off at all.
@@colin5577 its not putting people off, its just useless...youll see after a few weeks
Looks lovely, however, I'm put off by stories of historically reliability issues...
Not historic sadly. Traded my 23 V7 in a month ago after a series of niggling faults and corrosion
@@dbharroldit’s seems strange to have such problems in this day and age…
Maybe it’s because they are hand built and not a consistent as a robot?
Still got the horrid clock and headlight ....
MG looks great but offer limited pleasure to ride. They look classic and the ride feeling is retro as well.
