- Is this another Hal Blaine classic? Not accordingbto goggle! Hal played on Neil’s hits in 1969 and 1970 ... Holly Holy, Cracklin Rosie, and I am I said accordungbto Hal’s book the Wrecking Crew (1990). All Music Guide has no musicians listed for the albums from these years.
Goggle says the drummer in Gene Chrisman because it was cut in Memphis! I have to retract my Hal Blaine drummer comment or hear about it for years to come that it was Gene Chrisman! But it’s not Ron Tutt, who has been Neil’s tour drummer for a long time! 😀😎😉
I tried to keep in his vibe with a little Earl thrown for good measure. Enjoy!

I sure miss going to the ballpark and hearing this song with the crowd singing along! So many late 70s songs that Hal Blaine played on. Smooth drumming and quality sound and production! Nice touch with Neil on the backdrop.
oh no...is this another track Hal is on...my gosh he is everywhere. great playing Earl, I will try to make your next Hanging with the Hammer!
You are a modern day Hal Blaine! Even if Hal didn’t do this, you still have the gifting of so many drummers! You can do it all! Incredible song and drumming!
You can never go wrong with a bit of Neil Diamond!
Awesome drumming Hammer. Hal Blaine would be proud on this cover! Much respect, bro!
Saw live versions with Ronnie Tutt, but it also wouldn't have surprised me, if it had been Blaine and the Wrecking Crew on the studio album! In fact it was Gene Chrisman who worked for the American Sound Studio in Memphis. He played on "Suspicious Minds" and "Son of a Preacher Man" as well, which both are iconic drum parts... This is a very well crafted drum part. It serves the song and is fun to play! Great job, Earl!
good morning Earl
