Hi Rodney! I hope you get well soon! Take care of your self! I wanted to say that I appreciate your videos. I'm learning a lot from you and this knowledge is helping me a lot in becoming a better bassist. Thank you!
Just wanted to thank you for all the content in the last years, i'm usually more of a quiet viewer. your channel is one of the most chill and comfortable places for us bassists on the whole platform imho. also great to see you looking relatively healthy again in the latest videos, hope your health is good and getting better. all the best bro
Couldn't think of a more perfect bassist to demonstrate and explain this Rodney. Bravo!!! It'd be real easy to overlook the details you brought out and push people towards more expensive options. This looks like an addition to a working man's pedalboard for sure!!! Thank you!!!
I really like the mildly driven sound when the DRIVE is at about 1, 2/10. A+ sound. The higher level sounds useful also, for some situations, although my own preferred tone has less gain. I really like the DIRT switch - very nice fuzz sound. I am very picky with my fuzz, but that sounds like the perfect thing to mimic Cliff, Geezer or Lemmy. For a metal bassist this seems to be a very nice piece of kit. I'd get one if I didn't have a BassDriver already LOL.
hey Rodney! Great to see you pumping and grinding! keep it up bro! 5:08. The the Street driver is based on the para driver circuit. While on the road, Tim met with Frank and integrated the para driver in his rig and then they began work from there to this pedal. there are some old clips and insta stories of this.
Tech 21 just keeps cranking out bangers! If this had existed 3 years ago it would be on my board for sure. I am kind of curious what flavor of speaker/cab simulation this has in it...have any inside info on that?
From the info I've read, there isn't a speaker sim per se. It's a great tone stack for sure (corrected from the source! knowing Frank's gear, the "flavor" probably isn't a tough guess ;) )
Just discovered your channel. This is one of the most clear and concise review, walkthrough of any music product I’ve ever seen on here. Just subscribed! Great content!
Hey Rodney! Great vid as always. I was stoked about this pedal, and purchased one just when the demos came out. I emailed Tech 21 about details. "The filth and tone are propriety controls and custom tuned to the pedal. The pedal is based on the GT2 but voiced to Frank's specs." Cool but I wasn't as happy with mine as I thought I should have been. I wanted a BDDI on steroids, and to replace my BDDI, but i didn't feel that way about it. Great pedal, just not for me. So back to the BDDI and repurchase an SH1 that I had previously sold.
@@joeballs5669 like I said I was hoping to replace my BDDI. But that was a no go. But I just didn’t care for the dirt on it either. Just a one and done. But then Bass Driver and SH1 together kick a$$
I was between this and the YYZ and was waiting to hear your review - there’s just too much clank in this for me, and it doesn’t look like that can be dialed out as much as I’d like. YYZ it is!
Great review ! I tried one today & as you’d noted, It doesn’t seem based on the bass driver (I have one & love it). I liked it, but I wasn’t 100% sure …will try the Geddy pedal and decide !
Not an Anthrax kind of guy, but this pedal sounds pretty awesome, i'd choose this over a Sansamp any day of the week. The Sansamp has that watery sound, you all know what i mean, that jumping in puddles sound. I don't like that sound very much.
The StreetDriver48 sounds great! Different, but it definitely still has that Tech21 pedal sound I love. Ill never sell my Sansamp, its still to this day my all time favorite bass pedal.
i am currently testing the Street Driver - I have been using Geddy's DI-2112 and I only want to keep one. I can't seem to get any of the sounds you get out of it unfortunately - the Drive always seems farty and out of place, probably going to return it, unless I find out what to do with it - but I will probably stick with the 2112, and maybe change that for the upcoming XB driver.
A suggestion for the future: Perhaps toggle between the effect and bypass to give an idea how much coloration to expect, especially for those looking for an always-on tone shaper.
Great video Rodney! I have the SD48 & the DP-3X (which I've had a lot longer) & was confused by something. When I use my DP-3X the volume knob just has to be barely up like between 7 and 8 o'clock & the tone is punchy, articulate etc., everything I like. But when I swap out to the SD48, the level knob has to be put at 9 o'clock to get the same volume as my DP-3X (or leave the level set lower but crank the volume on my Eden). I don't think I even had a level/volume knob that has to be put at 9 o'clock.
I’ve been into Metal most of my Life! But bringing in the New Year with Taylor Swift! Not really, just threw up a little! Listening to Flotsam and Jetsom with J.N. On bass! Happy New Year Rodney and all the incredible subscribers to your channel.
It's good to see you well enough to start making videos again.
Frank Bello + Rodney McG = automatic like!
2 videos in 3 days! Im glad to see you back! I hope you feel better!
Thank you!

My pleasure to do it. I'm truly flattered you get something from it. Really appreciate the kind words, all the best.
Love Tech 21, this seems like a solid addition to the line. Great seeing you putting out more videos lately, you're an inspiring musician Rodney.🤘👊
Thanks, David!
Rodney and a Tech21 product? Instant like! Thank you for the amazing and knowledgeable presentation. Always on point ❤
Glad to see you dropping more fire brother. Killer riffs. \ii/
Really liking the tone from this one. always great to see a video from you brother
Much appreciated!
Tech21NYC. Always used, Always works, Always delivers. Simple and solid!
Go Rodney! Another slam dunk video. 😃 Right on the money honey.💰Especially love that you pointed out the knobs go to the LEFT! 😂
Another slam dunk pedal! You and Frank put out another killer! And yeah, knobs are a wonderful thing when you turn them all the way! 🤣🤘

Rawk on Rodney! Amazing playing and great review as usual! Brent, VT
Thanks, Brent!

Great video sir. Love your product reviews. Absolutely love your basses. Happy Holidays
Much appreciated, happy holidays to you.
this is what i want, need!!!
Do it!
Love the Cathulu shirt! Amazing skills as always!
All hail Cathulhu!
McG in the house bringing it heavy. I love meat& Potatoes. Thanks man!! Merry Christmas/ happy holidays 🍻
Same to you, my friend. All the best to you
Killer playing!!
Thank you!
We need a Rodney McG pedal! That filth switch was nasty!! I definitely heard some Cliff in that tone you pulled out
I wish!
Sounds awesome
Yes I have to add the same. So great to see you back. I learn so much from you and your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!

All SansAmps have speaker/cab sim. The Street Driver 48 is "Frank-flavored!" 😃
Solid pedal, great review.
Thanks!
Great demo, Rodney...!
Happy Holidays and looking forward to seeing you more in the new year...!
Happy holidays!

Welcome aboard!
Sounds fantastic with the knobs all at noon.
They probably meld a BDDI old version with a KHDK Abyss as Frank Bello use both unit in his rack for years
Awesome review packed with tons of knowledge
Thanks, buddy!
Yeah….
I bought the Frank Bello EMG pickups…
I still have to practice some more to play like him…
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That sounds very cool … with this amount of gain a clean blend would have been nice, but this is still cool.
Thanks for doing this review.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
How the hell do you play so quick and so clean!
Nice video. Nice to see content again
Hey, thanks!

Different strokes, as they say. I love the sh1 as well.
not for me either......thin , tinny , junky tones

Can't go wrong either way!

Options for everyone!

Good input.
Cool bass!!
Did you change the neck pickup on it?
Great video Rodney! I have the SD48 & the DP-3X (which I've had a lot longer) & was confused by something. When I use my DP-3X the volume knob just has to be barely up like between 7 and 8 o'clock & the tone is punchy, articulate etc., everything I like. My instinct says because the DP is technically 2 channels layered, the stack of them cretes a louder initial gain stage
@@RodneyMcG Thanks for the reply Rodney & always looking forward to more content.
Great tones .

Happy new year!
Sounds pissed off!! I'm going to have to edit my xmas list again!!
Do it!
Sounds great! Do you prefer this over the dUg?
2 different animals. It would depend on the project
I second that.
Mines on the way and replacing my darkglass. I like my Street Driver like I like my women, simple and dirty. 🤙🏼
Right on!
Nice review bud! Is that a Peavey Cirrus you're using in the demo?
Thank you! It's actually a peavey brian bromberg signature
@@RodneyMcG It's a lovely sounding Bass man!
The Steve Harris pedal also has a bite switch.
Correct!
If they made a Rackmount version i'd buy it today.
Does it support Phantom Power via the XLR jack?
I don't belive so, but you may want to double check with Tech21
New Bass?
Nah, had this one for a bit.
well, no mix knob, no deal. next!
Sounds like my SUV when it needs new brakes.
Your SUV sounds awesome!
It could be way less ugly😂
