Wow, I have seen Mason like 4 or 5 times in concert. I hadn't been listening to him much this last year or so though. I just now started getting into the blood of man, THIS SONG IS ROCKTASTIC!!!!! P.S. Mason rocks in concert!
Stinks this upload of the song cuts off a few seconds before it properly ends - not hearing that last line in full is a bummer, considering how beautiful it is :(
@womenwineandsong thecurrent d0t 0rg Amazing radio station from Minneapolis, which can be streamed live 24/7. This was #6 on the top 89 of 2009, I recommend checking it out, and there are no commercials.
I haven't heard any of his other music, but i heard this awhile back on the Current in Minneapolis and instantly had to Shazam it and put it in my collection. Such a moving song, he accurately describes the pain of what I would feel like if I lost a son. Wish I had seen him at 1st Ave.
I am 21 years old, have a beard, play football, boxing, watch spike tv, and do many other manly thing. This made me burst into tears.
He's one of the few who actually deserves the title 'singer/songwriter'.... The soul in his music is amazing :)
This song just kicks me right in the heart.
"I don't want no victory, I just want you back." Fucking YES.
Thanks Mason, I'm really enjoying your music.
great stuff from a great artist
no other song brings me to tears the way this one does. it's just raw emotion and truth. absolutely incredible.
@denizio3
i saw him perform this song live and he said it is about being a father and about the pain that war causes for everyone involved

First heard this song live, solo acoustic... Blew my mind. Mason rules.

Idk what happened to this Mason Jennings, but after this album, I'm hard pressed to find another song of his I like other than Wilderness.
Its fantastic how there are seventy two thousand views on not one has hit the dislike button.
Mason Jennings, your music has inspired me for years and I am happy to say, it still does =)
Whats civil about war anyway?
wow... first time i've seen a video with no dislikes.

it's better this way
This is a really meaningful song. Mason's got a huge bunch of songs people would be amazed about if he were better known.
@EAZYDUZIT1989 I think its about a father actually, being Mason is a dad. >.>
It's a little sad that Mason is not better known. Listen to all his music. Mason is great.
@chocolateflavoredgum you are fortunate to have a radio station that plays Mason.
That would require every single human being alive to listen to this song about 14285714.2857 times. Literally.
@womenwineandsong: it's true. que viva ksym 90.1 in san antonio!
@jnordaz I know, I was sort of explaining that to someone else.
I bought 'Blood of Man' on vinyl today... endless raw energy & beauty.
