    This is a really special film that tells the story of the type of difficult and dangerous work that had to be done in the states to support the troops over seas during WWII. The drama and humor are great.

    Love this 'Black comedy'! The two ladies provide some great humour, in what is an otherwise very serious film. Thank you from The UK! xxxx

    This film was an unexpected gem and had some great scenes that must have been expensive to film and really showed the dedication we all had at the time of WWII to help the cause. Also fine acting by all. Loved the gals with their lunch trailer. Kudos PizzaFlix for putting this one out there~!!!

    An enjoyable film Robert Lowery was the second actor to play Batman on film never the big star but he always gives a good performance. The lack of health and safety in those days was appalling but i guess that was the norm.Thanks for posting.

    Nice film. Phyllis Brooks is cute, but love Mary Treen, eg serving pie to her big fella he says don’t bother cutting it I’ll take it as it is, she says do you want a fork or shall I give you a shovel... Deadpan at its best.

    This film is one of the greatest little unknown gems that reflect the times....a great mix of of reality, history, humor, and the challenges of the times.....and there were plenty...such as a world-wide depression....a world-wide war.....and a world wide conundrum of nuclear supremacy.....and it's still with us....go figgah.

    Joe Sawyer plays very well against type as Spike. In fact he is the best actor in this movie. There's a couple of walking shots which didn't quite work as planned which unintentionally add to the humour.

    Such a pity that the lovely, talented, enigmatic Phyllis Brooks ended her film career in a few low-budget programmers. For years, she was Cary Grant's beard, when he was shacked up with Randolph Scott.

      +Rafael Storm Perpetuating the lie? Grant and Scott were nothing more than good friends and budget-minded roommates. Pathetic effort.

    • @edwardjames50
      @edwardjames50 7 років тому +4

      David Rice Oh, yeah, sure they were. Financially well-off men in their 30s always have roommates. The evidence is there, whether you are in denial or not, that Grant was as a gay as a spring frock. If he and Randy weren't lovers, the only other explanation is that they were sisters.

    David. They were more than budget-minded room mates. A documentary I recently saw clearly stated that Scott and Grant had been lovers for over 12 years.

    • @searchthewind99
      @searchthewind99 4 роки тому

      @Be. Wise Being a Christian, Conservative Republican doesn't rule out the fact that they were also gay. You may have had sources that they were not but there are several other sources that they were. Take your pick.

    • @searchthewind99
      @searchthewind99 4 роки тому

      @Be. Wise I'm going by an unfinished biography, I read on Katharine Hepburn. It said many Hollywood personalities were gay or bisexual. It mentioned that Grant and Randolph were kissing passionately. I wasn't there, so I can't say it was true or not but it wasn't uncommon among the acting profession.

    • @searchthewind99
      @searchthewind99 4 роки тому

      @Be. Wise Like I said, I wasn't there so I don't know what was really going on. Many actors and actresses are gay. It's common in that field. Back then, the studios had an interest in covering it up. Grant was ordered by his studio to marry his first wife, I think it was Virginia Cherrill, the marriage didn't last long, he then returned to Scott. You go by what you want, I'll go by what I want. Who is right, who can say?

    • @searchthewind99
      @searchthewind99 4 роки тому

      @Be. Wise Look it up yourself. This was at Paramount when Grant first came to Hollywood. If you're such an expert, why do you write a book? Apparently, there's a lot of errors that need clearing up. I'm being serious.

    Why did they always have to have the couple get married at the end of the film in those days? Couldn't they have walked away hand in hand, or if they speak at all, have the guy say, "Well, looks like I'll be sticking around, after all?" Often, they only know each other a few days before they're talking about a honeymoon. In "The Cat & The Canary" , about two days. Marrying an almost complete stranger.

    Peter Graves character was a complete waste of time in this movie for what reason could he have had to try to stop him from trying to escape knowing his sister loved him enough to tell him to get away.
