Great work! I love your channel's focus on Joplin. Of course everyone knows him for "The Entertainer", but he had so many other great pieces. And yeah, I know this song mainly because of Roller Coaster Tycoon, haha. I always used it on the vintage cars ride.
Such a really pleasant performance. I truly enjoyed your playing. I listen to a lot of ragtime and play a bit and you sir are out in front of the pack. Thanks
This is one of Joplin’s harder pieces in my opinion. The fingering is a bit awkward in the A section. Fig Leaf gives me no trouble but this one has been giving me some trouble getting clean. I say all that to say I love the tempo that you play this at. Not too fast nor too slow. Very nice performance.
Been practicing it a bit for the past few months since I made this comment, and I’d say the A and C sections are still the hardest. The left hand can be a bit tricky on the D section, but B is the easiest for sure. That said I’m just about at the tempo of this video. I’ve never paid any attention to the syllabus difficulties, so your comment makes me curious how all of Joplin’s pieces rank.
@@coxandrewj Not sure what the grades mean like if something is advanced does that mean an advanced player could sight read it etc. But my guess is a grade 8 or 9 piece would require at least a few hours practice for advanced level players to play. Searchlight though probably took me at least 15 -20 hours practice and by comparison the first 2 section of entertainer took maybe 3 -4 hours while i was more inexperienced. I've learned probably 10 Joplin works and this one stood out the most as being the hardest lol
Very nicely played. And it improved towards the end. I would say that your touch is a bit on the heavy side. Ragtime can be played softly and slowly. This felt a bit rushed at times. On the plus side you were hitting (almost) all the right notes and the tempo was very consistent. Well done!
Very nice
Nice playing fellow Pianist. Best wishes from Chester England.
Nice to meet you!
I'm Ryumaro, japanese ragtime player.

I'm rooting for you!
Keep up the good work!

I’m so happy somebody finally recognized it from the game 😂 thank you, friend!
Bravo. Very well done! One of my Joplin favorites!
Thanks a lot! Underrated isn’t it?

Thank you sir! You were my first view lol, I appreciate you smashing that notification bell
The trio and D section remind me of the west for some reason

Its grade 9 on piano syllabus and thats not surprising. Gave me way more issues than MLR and The Entertainer

Most covers are slow. It's nice to hear one that isn't a funeral march
