I love the misdirect with Scorpion and Reptile. The obvious choices wouldn't have been as satisfying. I also really like the ones loke Sub Zero Polar bear, where the animal keeps digging into their torso.

I still say Reptile’s the funniest one. It’s not because of the unexpected form he took. It’s what happens after that’s random. Here you got Scorpion. The hell spawn of vengeance. A video game icon. He who fears nothing… but monkey. The monkey don’t even do anything. He just straight up runs!
Because Scorpion was not part of the original MK3 and Sheeva got the scorpion. They were lazy with these finishing moves, lazy enough to not reassign another animal to Sheeva and mess up Scorpion.
He wasn't really Australian until I think MK4. Trevor Goddard played him as a cockney in the movie, but was misinterpreted as Australian. Until then, he was intended to be v Japanese American. 🙂 it'd be funny, though I will agree

I love how most of the MK3 animalities had realistic animals with some colored aura around them, while the UMK3/MKT ones are basically cartoons, just look at Noob's Animality lol
So... Liu Kang becomes a dragon, Nightwolf becomes a wolf, Rain becomes an elephant, Raiden becomes an electric eel, and Classic Sub-Zero becomes a polar bear
I had the PC version of this, and it had a different roar for the Animality announcement. The moves were very hit and miss; generally, the original ones were better, but there were still more misses than hits.
In MK3, Scorpion wasn't a playable fighter, but Sheeva was and her Animality was the scorpion. They didn't change anything for Sheeva's Animality but Scorpion... You saw it 😂
Here's my list of Animalities should included: 1. Hydra for eating limbs from it's opponent 2. Buffalo to knock the skeleton out of the kombatant's body 3. Crab for crushing and chopping off limbs 4. Preying Mantis for cutting and eating your enemy 5. Octopus for squeezing and devouring your kombatant 6. Griffon for eating and flying away with the body 7. Seagulls a flock for devouring the opponent 8. Crayfish for slapping the opponent with it's tail 9. Triceratops to impaled your enemy with it's horns 10. Crocodile for chomping your kombatant
Didn't make sense to do it though because Sheeva already had the scorpion animality in MK3 before Scorpion was even added as a character later on in UMK3. So they gave him something completely ridiculous like a penguin to fit with the silly thematics that MK3 has overall with other fatalities anyway.
Noticed that other then the 15 original characters from MK3, every other characters afterward explode into their animal form rather than actually transforming into one. You know this cause when the MK3 character transform they change back whereas the ones not in MK3 doesn't change back.

MK3 (vanilla) has this eerie glow to their transformations, but in Ultimate MK3, it's like the developers lost interest and just wanted to push product quickly by scaling down their transformations and making them look and animate goofy. Glad the Animalities made a spectacular detailed comeback in the latest Khaos DLC for MK1.
Animalities where introduced in MK3 Fun fact: in Vanilla MK3 there were no ninjas, so Sheeva received the Scorpion as an Animality. When Ultimate MK3 came out with the ninjas, Midway had to pick a different animal for Scorpion and they (for some reason) picked the penguin, which is histerical
Some of them like Sub-Zero as a polar bear nightwolf as a wolf make a lot of since even Molina as s skunk indefinitely Liu Kang as a dragon. But scorpion as a penguin makes no sense and reptile being achimp also makes no sense. Scorpion should definitely turn into a giant scorpion in mortal Kombat 4 that is one of his fatalities and probably his best and most logical one. And reptile turning into any type of reptile would make sense he could be a komodo dragon or even an alligator.
I’ve always wanted to see the non-colored/glowing versions of the MK3 animalities. I want to know what the animations looked like before the colorful glowing filter was added. The only one we’ve seen without the glow effect is Liu Kang’s dragon because it is also in MKII.
It feels like during MK3 the devs gave some pretty fitting animalities to each characters, but when UMK3 was released it felt like they were just messing around (Scorpion as a Penguin and Reptile as a chimp) and in MKT they just gave up since a lot of the fatalities in that game felt very lazy.

It feels like during MK3 the devs gave some pretty fitting animalities to each characters, but when UMK3 was released it felt like they were just messing around (Scorpion as a Penguin and Reptile as a chimp) and in MKT they just gave up since a lot of the fatalities in that game felt very lazy.
Indeed. For Sheeva, I would give her the power to turn into a spider, Sind, an elephant, Scorpion, a scorpion, and Repil, into an alligator, or a metamorphic lizard.
