I booked the Shangri-Las in the 1966-67 era. They couldn't have been nicer or more professional to work with. Unlike most of the artists of the era, they never gave me one moments grief. It's nice to see Mary doing so well. She looks great and she was always a great singer. It was astonishing to see them re-create such complicated records live and with such ease and perfection. In retrospect, it was amazing really. That is what the great Shangri-Las were. Great!

Wow, what an incredible interview! Mary Weiss seemed like a really nice gal. I want to find more interviews of her. Very sorry to hear of her recent passing. It's just another reminder that I was born in the wrong decade, more like wrong time period. I grew up listening to The Shangri-Las and other amazing groups from the 50s and 60s thanks to my parents for playing their records all the time. Even though I wasn't around when this music first came out, I'm thankful that I at least got to listen to their music and learn what real music is all about. Rest in eternal peace to Mary Weiss and to all the members of the Shangri-Las. Thank you for creating such incredible music that will last for generations to come.
When the Shangri-las hit the airwaves in 1964, I was 10, just beginning to look at girls differently.
Even through the little speaker of my transistor radio, the incredible harmony of Mary, Mary Ann and Marge's voices pierced my heart and soul. There was such emotion and longing in their voices that you felt connected to them.
Now, though it breaks my heart that they're passed on, they will always be in my heart and soul.💘❤️

Man, I own a Radio Station in Tennesse, I've been in the media business for about 33 years. If I had Mary at my station on the air, the whole place would turn in to a almost Retro Rock Party! The Reigning Sound is from my home state, Tennessee. I've listened to all of Mary's new songs, they ROCK! I was not even 1 year old when the Shangri-Las were hot & on TV like Shingdig. I turn 49 in May 2013. Mary paved the path in the 60's to what we have in Pop/Rock/R & B today. The woman is smart!

I'd love to interview Mary and ask her about how she created such incredibly dramatic storylines in the studio back in those days. She wasn't "just" a singer -- she was an actress, pure and simple. How did a 16-year-old girl manage to attain artistic power -- pathos, drama, heartbreak, tension and release -- equivalent to that of the great radio dramatists of the 1940s and '50s? She was nothing short of a prodigy.

Hi Mary. I was about 8 years old when your band was flying. I didn't even know it existed until I discovered it on You Tube afew years ago, as I checked out old bands. I bought a DVD of your band and i just love it. I blast it in my car, and when my grown kids tell me its corny, I tell them I don't care! lol Just know you are still making fans. Wow, I wished that me and my wife could meet Mary & her husband! Like I said, I own a radio station in Tennessee, we play a format called "Hot Adult Contemporary" Mary is about old enough to be my mother. My Wife and I were infant babies when the Shangri-Las were big in the 60s. That Dnagerous Game Album Rocks, and I wished we could get Mary or her Husband to send us a copy so we can play it on the air. Our station streams as well. Party, Rock On Mary! Somebody Tell Mary To Call Us! Please!!!
Nice to see and hear Mary, although it would have been better to see and hear MORE of her and less of the interviewer. He should have phrased his questions better so that she was telling more of her story than she did. It would have been interesting to hear her comments on the Shangri-Las classics and tracks on her new CD; instead, he blew them off by giving her an easy out with the "self explanitory" comment. Mary's a great storyteller -- I know, because I have interviewed her at length.
Explaining the title "Dangerous Game" would have been a great opportunity for Mary to "talk about" (as the so-called interviewer liked to say) stepping back into the limelight after so many years. But, no, can't have that.
It seemed like the interviewer was auditioning his voice for future work. "This is what I sound like when I ask a question". Gah!
She is as pretty as ever.
I read somewhere that in the the mid to lat '70's Mary was trying to break into the CBGB's scene but it didn't work out. If the interviewer did his homework he could have elaborated more on this when she mentioned here last gig was at CBGB's.
It’s a real shame she stopped singing after no time at all. And didn’t get a good break in the BGB’s scene. She inspired a lot of them. And was still so young.

Ive got this lp! It’s absolutely fantastic! I got it last year in a record shop in Newcastle England I took a big gamble and it paid off! I like it obviously I was only young in the sixties but I heard it again when I was twenty I do research on pop music groups and it’s only. recently in my fifties that I found out who the shangri las were ! I could not understand why the leader of the pack was banned in England it’s not a bad record to listen to how about that eh 16 years old and starting out on the road to stardom but what interviews I’ve seen she sounds like a very nice woman I’ve always wished I was born ten years before my time I would have loved the music in the charts then instead of listening to absolute crap that’s around today I wish she would bring out another lp it would be fantastic! Mary Weiss, for a Queens girl doesn't sound very New Yawkish with her speaking voice. I'm wondering why that is. I'd love to ask her about that.

She lost the accent. There are few old clips of them speaking and you can hear it quite clearly, especially from the twins.
It’s the same with a lot of those New York artists. They went to professional audiologists who worked with them to lose the accent. Ronnie Spector comes to mind

The interviewer is terrible.
I hit the dislike button because this interview was much too short and the interviewer did not dig deep enough. Howard Stern would have gotten more out of Mary and would have asked more detailed follow up questions to Mary's answers. For example, CBGB's was supposed to be a sort of comeback in 1977 for the original Shangrilas as they were also in the studio recording a comeback album at the same time. What happened to this comeback? Ask the hard questions that are interesting. How and why did the Shangrilas stop recording and peforming? That is an interesting story.

I also was pretty positive about their nation in the comment. I was actually far more critical about the nation that I was born in,and for damn good reasons.
