I am not a singer by any stretch of the imagination but I love learning about the technical aspects of it. With most singers, I can calmly sit any analyse what they're doing. With Fantasia, I can't. Her singing is something you just FEEL on an atomic level.

I’ve seen her live several times & she doesn’t squeal as much in concert. You should do her tribute to Patti “you are my friend”. I think it’s the best representation of her range!

The pace of these songs seems to get her keyed up which speeds up her vibrato to me. Not only was it church, it was very James Brown in execution!

Those are my favorite of hers too. I remember loving her and going crazy in high school for her to win. My mom and I sat and voted forever. She still slays every performance and is truly her. I agree that Fantasia is uniquely herself--Gospel. I also agree that two of her best performances are Summer Time and Let's Give Them Something to Talk About. When I heard her sing Summertime, I felt like the song had been locked away and was waiting on her. Loved this analysis. Thank you!

I absolutely love Fantasia. Was able to meet her when she was on American Idol and what a sweet, loving lady. One thing I’ve noticed with her singing would be the “quiver” her mouth has when she’s in-between notes and sometimes she do a “shout” after a note. I hope I don’t sound silly, but is that because of adrenaline flowing through because of her powerful performances?
