I used your tip yesterday to get starship design 4. It worked great. I went to the Red Mile ship vendor and just used my frontier to add the unique parts to. It took me a bit to figure out how it works but I basically just put a hab under my docker and then added more habs on the left and right of that. Making a big wing on my ship. Then I just added structure parts to that wing I built out of habs. I went from 9 out of 30 to completing it in no time at all. It did cost me around 20k-40k credits even after removing the parts later but it was worth it to get level 4. Thanks

I'm yet to see anyone do a vid on structural parts and what fits together. Most parts are apparently available from the landing pad builder (no idea if I've unlocked it all). For eg the M40Ulysses HE3 tank blends nicely to the side of engine parts like 2x SAE5220 stacked with tanks either side looks really nice. Quite like them with the Nova range of engines as well. Be nice to see a full range of parts and what parts have decent "blending" between them.

Until I watched this video, I've been stuck at Starship Design level 2 for what feels like an eternity. After following this procedure, I was able to finally get to level 4 in less than 30 minutes. I didn't fully trust the game to give credit for each module added so every 3rd module or so, I'd save the design, back out and check my progress and then edit again. The game did follow each add on properly so it did track it and getting to level 4 was a cinch.
If anyone is having troubles with getting the parts for your ship, make a outpost and build a landing pad with ship builder. It will give you most the parts you can use current to your level but not all. I was able to build the 04 vanguard completely at my ship builder. Note that to get the first 04 Vengeance video build you will need to be around level 38 and for the upgraded version you will need to be around level 66.
FYI for those who don't know... the landing pad you build at your outpost gives you MOST of the parts available for ship building, NOT all. You will have to go to the manufacturers directly to get uniques parts, but for the most part, your own outpost landing pad will provide the majority of what you will need.
False. The whole game is a catch 22. You cant build a functional outpost because you cant get the parts to the planet and you cant get the parts to the planet because you cant make or buy a ship with enough cargo storage to be functional
@@irm2202 False. You can just, carry, all the parts you need. Is it annoying? Sure. But certainly not impossible.
I find it’s an added challenge carrying 1000 extra mass and hijacking ships to build my base😂 have to go real slow
You can actually get away with building it at around level 21 if you get the Star eagle and modify it to look like the 04 Vengeance. You will have to add some different weapons and equipment, though, but you can always upgrade when your level is high enough. Also, I had access to the fusor dc401 reactor at that level, which has 29 power points. Its not as good as the one he used in his video, but not half bad compared to what you will have available at the time.
I Built a bebop style ship but its pretty slow and under powerd so i need to up my building game id also love to have a maxed out crimson fleet ghost hahaha
I never built a ship. How do we get all the parts from one vendor to the different vendors around the galaxy in order to get the differently branded components? Do you need a ship that ships the parts to a single place to put it all together? Also, I could like a ship with 6 people assigned. How do I make your vengeance do that?

I’m having issues rn since the last update I can travel near the planet but it puts me close to the moon and won’t allow me to land anywhere on prima 3 when I try it keeps saying set course travel to location but does not give me the option to land I ne had that problem b4

if you dont want to do this, just build a random ship or 2 and you'll unlock max it out easily
The key is not to reuse any components. Flipping a component does not count as unique. The technique O4AM shows above is by far the most effecient.

I don't have that structural part available to buy.
For me it was saying I was reaching my max height and the ship is no taller than a one of my other ships. Anyone know why this is happening?
The skill challenge for ranks 2, 3 & 4 of Starship Design requires you to buy and add new Structural pieces to your ship(5->15->30). You will have to visit several different manufacturers in order to find the required 50 unique structural pieces. I have found 65 unique ship structural pieces from the 5 shipbuilders. This will cost about 25,000CR.
Solution: build a ship landing pad and builder at a outpost, you get almost all the parts there. and using different variations of the same HABS/parts, you dont need to find that many different parts, much easier and cheaper.
@@hweinheimer18 Yesss...but that won't really save you much in the way of time. Time is not the big obstacle. Unless your landing pad shipbuilder is different from mine, you still have to dish out 20+K credits to complete the challenge.
Now, the challenge for this particular skill is not that difficult, and the credits aren't that big an obstacle to any player who has reached the mid-game, so you could do it either way with relative ease. I mean, it's not like you are trying to get challenge ranks in Concealment or anything like that. Now that is annoying as hell.
Build a port hole or something complete the build, go back into it delete the port hole and add a horizontal weapon thing, rinse and repeat, can obviously add more if you have more room! Cost a lot less than 25k
@@tomscott4706 Requires 50 UNIQUE structural pieces, and flipping the orientation on the piece does not count. Even if you went with the 50 cheapest possible components and not the 50 easiest to find, you would still have to spend well over 20K+ credits. If you don't actually buy and complete the installation it won't count it toward meeting the challenge. My last SD4 challenge cost about 25k+. That includes selling the pieces back after you install/buy them. If you didn't sell them back this challenge would likely cost well over 50K.
I mean, thats the entire premise of the video. The issue is its 50 UNIQUE parts, and you run out of cheap structural parts so the price will get up there.@@tomscott4706
It tells me that my ship is too high, wide, or whatever and then it's asking me for more landing gear and I have no more room for landing gear.. I'm level 135 and I just started ship build about 4 weeks ago and still haven't reached level 4. I'm stuck at level 3..🤦♀️
no need to use your own ship when you can use the frontier add a few long habs and start slapping stuff onto it
How do you stop from getting errors?
By reading them and solving them, they are basically big building mistakes which can be avoided easily :P

Once again man, you need a ship that is long enough for this or it overextends your landing gear. You need a very long ship to attach like this, but of course you missed it. You're using your custom ship that already has Starship Design Rank 4. I've been burned by your suggestions a few times now.
No you don't. Add just enough, save, gain perks, delete, start again with unique parts. Y'all over-complicate this stuff 😆

I copied the video using Frontier and it worked...
All I had to do was keep the docking bit on the top and there were no issues....

Red = Degraded performance. Blue = Improved. Neither has anything to do with your ability to build a ship.
@04AMofficial just the stats, but it wont let be save due to an "unknown error".
If it helps im using the mantis ship. To build im moving the sheild generator, placing the habitats ontop of the existing one and then placing the generator back ontop of the stack.
Have tried with and without the ship design stat with the same result.

I dont see this option under ship builder. It only shows weapons.
It's not an option. Go into build mode then move your cursor/ pointer to an empty place. The menu will change and give you an "add" option. Pick that and the parts menu will appear.
There is no way to build a new ship, just to make minor modifications to the frontier or destroy the frontier and replace it with something else
Ya, i came to the conclusion that this was the way as well. Sadly its neather fast, nor easy. Its a pain in the but. Weapons and armor was fast and easy.
The best parts are still locked behind your character level though 🤷🏻♂️

Anyone else had a existential crisis after finding out A class is the worst class?
This does not work. I'm at level 2 of Stahip design and it will not give me credit for adding anything to my ship, even doing it the way it's shown in this video. Or at least it's not working on Xbox. I'm at the Red Mile vendor.
I hate exploit videos. I'm not trying to rush through the game, leveling ASAP. It's a single player game so I'm only competing with myself.
You can just,surrender without paying and working off by sacrificing your character xp….it’s what I did and got to keep my credits

I really dislike the ship-building in this game, clunky and unintuitive, plus ladders in the way all the time, you have to guess what the interiors are going to be like... Really poor game mechanics

Although, you are right with the interiors, but the other things in the ship build estan god
They are made like submarines, boring and cramped but practical. They arent meant to be luxury suites.
