My grandmother was born in 1922 and she said that they had a very bad hurricane in 1927. It flooded the whole acadiana. My family had to move to port Arthur Texas.

I'm curious if you could provide your source on the Crowley Gueydan standoff for the 1940 flood. I'm interested in reading more about it and can't find it anywhere!

I live in Colorado. I have spent about a year in LA over a three year period. When there was hurricane news on the tv I was just not getting it. I didn’t know where places where. I had no idea that LA is really flat. When Mr Kline says there was a 15 foot storm surge at a town that could mean hundreds of square miles in area with tentacles reaching further. I liked to ask people “What is the elevation here, you know above sea level? “ The answer 20 miles from the sea was something like 5 feet. Yikes!!! When driving around there is a faint line around a telephone pole eight feet up. Thanks Mr Kline.
