I avoid spraying directly on clothes at all costs. My thing is that fragrance will get on the clothes anyway from you spraying it on your skin. So why risk staining? Plus, if you rotate like I do (150+ frags), I don't want a piece of clothing like a sweater that normally is not washed as often as other clothing to smell like the previous fragrance I put on. Thank you for addressing the "molecule destruction" part. I always find this statement by other vloggers very inaccurate. There is no way that molecules are destroyed by physical force. Some may get destroyed by heat, but as far as I know, you will need a significant amount of it, which you pointed correctly out. You can also break molecules chemically but every molecule has ways on how to break them, and ever rarely will this molecules break because of what is in skin, otherwise that will create problems (irritation, for a milder example).

good stuff. i like that you actually do the research instead of regurgitating what everyone else says. anyways, i would think frags effect cheaper clothes and cheaper materials worse than more expensive materials that are more natural and tolerant.
There is only a handful of things you shouldn't do when applying a fragrance: don't spray your eyes or mouth, don't spray it a small room if you have pets; especially cats and dogs: alternately, if you have a small child, never spray near a flame or extreme heat source which could cause flame. Never spray a open wound or up your nostrils. That's pretty much it. Apply anywhere ya want and as much as ya want away from the previously stated. I spray my nads if I'm on a date

Aight I'm subscribing. Love how you correct yourself and learn more in the process instead of just ignorantly believing that whatever it is that is popularly believed to be true is factual.
No one said that there was breaking down the smell molecules of the fragrance by rubbing it in the fear is that it mixes with your natural oils and that’ll alter the smell. This is evident by the way fragrances smell different on different people.
Yes fragrances do mix with natural oils and alter the scent, but it doesn’t need to be rubbed in to mix with your natural oils, the only way to avoid that is to spray on clothing. When using an atomizer, a small amount of liquid is applied to a large surface area, and alcohol being less dense than water, it will tend to spread a thinner layer, due to this thin layer of alcohol and fragrance oils, the alcohol evaporates quickly and the fragrance oils are very quickly mixed with natural oils whether the fragrance oils are sitting on the skin or absorbed into the skin. So in the case of fragrances applied with an atomizer, the fear that rubbing is what mainly causes mixing with your natural oils is not very applicable, so spraying on not your skin at all is the only way to avoid it, i hope this makes sense!
The higher the oil concentration, the more i find that it works to spray on my neck, under the ear where you can find your aorta. This is the only place that helps me get things like BdC Parfum to perform. If i spray elsewhere, it will be a skinscent. As with edt concentration, it doesnt matter where i spray. The alcohol will help.
Great to bust the myths. I rarely blindly believe anything and prefer to both think and try myself. I spray my hair for greater longevity, less anosmia and less skin absorption of potentially suspect chemicals. Only thing I disagreed with in this fragrance was quality being linked to longevity. I don't think that's true. Otherwise great though
At last someone has had the guts to expose the LIES about applying fragrance to your skin!!! We've yearned for the TRUTH and at last a hero has stepped up!!!
I personally spray on my arm where it's got the most hair in-between my elbow and wrist. I also spray on the back of my neck but i make sure some gets on the back of my head where my hair is right above the back of the neck. Then one spray on my shirt on the front, unless it's got a higher oil concentration...then i just spray on the skin on the higher chest area and chest hair near the neck.
If nine individuals in a group of ten receive the same info and agree on a resolution, it's the responsibility of the tenth to protest, highlight all potential issues with that resolution, and argue the case for unlikelier scenarios. This dude is the 10th man.
A well needed message to all the fragrance lovers. Every time someone recommends a specific place to apply perfume, the reasoning just sounds nonsensicalz
Tbh idk about anyone else but when I spray I think mainly about areas where it would work best in terms of wanting girls to be able to smell me, so for example my neck being one front side and back side because when they go in for a hug they smell it, I think girls spray in their hair all the time or underneath their hair on their neck again (whether it’s good or bad idk) but I feel like all it takes is a bit of wind and voila it’s being pushed out. So in my opinion sillage is more of a factor because if you can leave a scent trail or have a intimate bubble around yourself then that’s where the magic happens because people will want to be around you and not just smell you from across the room. For me I’ve found a signature scent and just sprayed that on my clothes and I know we’re “not supposed to” but I do it anyway and it lasts so much longer than if it was just on my body
Re: wrist rubbing, Roja Dove has said its not about the heat, but rather rubbing mixes the top notes into the heart and base notes, so youre altering the acent profile by changing the shape of the pyramid, effectively. EDIT: My background is pharmacy, so I've probably had as much chemistry as you have, and im not sure there's any reason to think what Roja said is true either. Thoughts?
Yes you are correct! The problem with what Roja is saying is that the top and heart notes are already mixed together in the liquid with denatured 200 proof alcohol as the solvent, the only reason you smell the top notes first is because they are more volatile, once those are gone you smell the heart and bases! No hate on Roja of course he’s a great performer, just maybe not a chemist😂
Roja is a very charismatic person. The issue with very charismatic people? It's easy to believe their words without much thinking simply because of their charisma. I adore listening to the man talk, but some of the things he says are straight up wrong, like rubbing or never applying fragrance around your neck and near it.
Right on! I gave up on the "pulse points" myth 3 decades ago. Why bother wasting my favorite scents? Way too expensive. Clothes my friends. And I work outdoors a lot. Sometimes, 18 hour days...you'll sweat your scent off before it'll have the chance to become a signature scent that others can associate with you. Best to clothes it!!
Great video im not a fragrance guy, but i enjoyed this video start to finish I usually get 1 fresh fragrance to last me 6 months to a year, and just rotate between 4 or 5 different ones, and i have a go to ysl la nuit, that is a powerhouse. 1 spray, have had the bottle for almost a decade Youre right about cheap ones. Ive tried zara and they arent great, but chanel, dior, creed, versace, last all day with just 3 sprays. 1 on the neck (due to habit) 1 on the chest, as the brands i mentioned literally last until the clothes are washed, and 1 on the wrist with a quick rub 😂 you could even do 2 on the neck and/or clothes For me, the wrist gets me almost a full working day. Paired with a spray or 2 on my cloths, i feel like i have a signature scent that every1 will smell if they are close enough to have a conversation with me. Im not choking people out like some of the people i work with just by walking past them 😂 For me, fragrance is an extension of your self and your personality. I dont need people to smell me from a mile away, or smell me when they dont want to. You only need to smell me when interacting with me. Great vid! ❤
From my experience, fragrances last longer on any fabric that’s not waterproof/resistant. Although I enjoy wearing fragrances on a daily basis I don’t trust the chemical content enough to apply directly on my body. Another thing is, I’m not worried about stains because I almost always wear black anyway. Unless I’m wearing a jacket, in which case I’ll spray my undershirt and hands, and rub my neck with my hands. I sprayed some cologne on my arms and later the smell was gone but there was a like white patch on my arm so that made even more apprehensive of wearing cologne directly on my skin. Another tip is to spray your underwear before wearing them. I’ve had crazy reactions from strangers using these techniques so I’ll just stick to them
The neck is most important and a good spot to apply your fragrance because thats the warmest part of your body I usually do 3 sprays max 2 on both sides of the neck and one on the back I don’t spray anywhere else I just try to avoid spraying near the throat.
The reason I don’t apply fragrance to my wrists and rub them is nothing to do with molecules, but a dream I had that I was in the wild with Bear Grills and he started a fire by spraying Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male on his wrists and rubbed them together and as we all know dreams are real and I don’t want to start fires every where. The only issue with spraying on clothes is that if your partner likes your colognes they will definitely steal all your clothes.
Entropy will make sure all that is applied will find its way out there. Spray it on warm skin, it will evaporate faster with a stronger scent, spray it on (cold) clothes, it will evaporate slower, with less intensity, spray a lot on a small area, it will take longer, spray the same amount on a larger area, it will spread faster. Also, spraying after a shower, your skin won't "eat" that fragrance and never come out. Just a matter of time. But interestingly, our senses don't experience twice the amount of scent (or light, sound, pressure, whatever) as twice as strong. Meaning, when you apply twice the amount, it might smell somewhat like √2 as strong, but you will smell it a lot longer...
For work I do 3 sprays, my head / hair, neck & back. I just like the idea of people smelling me when I pass by, not necessarily me standing next to them. But when I’m with my boyfriend I’ll spray my arm stomach & legs cause he’ll be beside me, in front of me etc 😊😊
1) Agreed. So many reasons why not to apply fragrances on your hands. 2) Agreed on condition. I avoid applying fragrances on skin unless I just showered. 3) Agreed. I almost always apply on my clothes. Better longevity. Except directly under my nose. I don't want to get nose blind 5 mins later. 4) # of sparys is very subjective. I'm not a sissy sprayer but a few really only need 3-5 spary. Most 8-12. Some you use up half a bottle and it will still be gone in 1hr.😂 5) I have $300~$500 bottles. And I have $20~$60 bottles. If you are not a snob collector, it doesn't what fragrance you use as long as you like it and it's not offensive to others around you go ahead. But if you are starting out, I recommend you at least get from an established fragrance brand or house. Just my 2 cents.
A "good" fragrance is one you love, that loves you back chemistry wise, has good projection and sillage. That can cost 15 bucks, or 500.00.

So in the case of fragrances applied with an atomizer, the fear that rubbing is what mainly causes mixing with your natural oils is not very applicable, so spraying on not your skin at all is the only way to avoid it, i hope this makes sense!
oh yessssss, i love a scientific breakdown on fragrances
thank you ma’am!!
you look like a main character in a movie somehow
hopefully not in a low budget
romantic comedy
@Fragrance_Lament nah man you look unique in a good way
Outer banks-esque 😂😂😂
yooo i thought RYAN GOSLING was speaking😂
The higher the oil concentration, the more i find that it works to spray on my neck, under the ear where you can find your aorta. This is the only place that helps me get things like BdC Parfum to perform. If i spray elsewhere, it will be a skinscent. As with edt concentration, it doesnt matter where i spray. The alcohol will help.
How do you keep that low on the subs?
Like i understand you don't go on the hypes, but you are a fucking legend already!
Keep the good work!
Thank you bro!! Yes i try my best to steer away from the hypes! Im very happy you enjoy 🙏
Thank you for the critique🤝
Bold! And necessary. Great video💯
Thank you🫡
Thanks to @paragonfragrance for being the first person i saw to discuss this subject and motivate me to make the video, go check out his channel🙏🙏
@@Fragrance_Lament Nate at Paragon is awesome! He's one of the reasons I started my channel!
At last someone has had the guts to expose the LIES about applying fragrance to your skin!!! We've yearned for the TRUTH and at last a hero has stepped up!!!
YESSIR!🙏
Backing your video with scientific references? Well done! Subscribed!
this was the most high quality video I've seen today
only 4k subs should deverve 1 million! Fire vid G thanks finally a good video that i understand:) Keep up the good work!
Spraying your pulse points puts the perfume more into your bloodstream. It doesn’t increase projection - it increases absorption into your own body.
You're very good at this!
Your cadence and tone make you very funny 😆! Great data 📊 too
Bro finally dropped 😍😍
fr😭😭
This video is top tier
I often times rub cologne with my wrist if I like the dry down better it definitely helps calm down a strong start
I personally spray on my arm where it's got the most hair in-between my elbow and wrist. I also spray on the back of my neck but i make sure some gets on the back of my head where my hair is right above the back of the neck. Then one spray on my shirt on the front, unless it's got a higher oil concentration...then i just spray on the skin on the higher chest area and chest hair near the neck.
sick polo I was wondering where you had bought it from?
if you mean the brown one, i got it from abercrombe and fitch!
@@Fragrance_Lament yeah that was the one appreciate it 👍
If nine individuals in a group of ten receive the same info and agree on a resolution, it's the responsibility of the tenth to protest, highlight all potential issues with that resolution, and argue the case for unlikelier scenarios. This dude is the 10th man.

Great video, what’s the thickness of the chain that you’re wearing?
Great, funny and informative. Great work

New subscriber! Quality content!
Great video bro! Super educational. Had no idea
Thank you being i appreciate it😁
Re: wrist rubbing, Roja Dove has said its not about the heat, but rather rubbing mixes the top notes into the heart and base notes, so youre altering the acent profile by changing the shape of the pyramid, effectively.
I definitely spray my clothes!!
Sheesh! Detailed and perfect. Analyzed, researched with example and experiment. Dude, you're on the next level!! 🫡
Waaait wait wait wait. I DONT need to light my arm on fire? Whoooopsieees
Good work! 👏👏👏
Well made video for a high schooler. Bravo.
Great channel
Based on your color grading preferences, you must be a warm fragrance lover or maybe something woody or spicy hehe
I love you noticed the color grading🙏
Learned me something today…thanks to you!
Aye man. Never seen any of your videos but the intro was great.
Loving these videos man keep it up
Great video im not a fragrance guy, but i enjoyed this video start to finish
I usually get 1 fresh fragrance to last me 6 months to a year, and just rotate between 4 or 5 different ones, and i have a go to ysl la nuit, that is a powerhouse. 1 spray, have had the bottle for almost a decade
Youre right about cheap ones. Ive tried zara and they arent great, but chanel, dior, creed, versace, last all day with just 3 sprays. 1 on the neck (due to habit) 1 on the chest, as the brands i mentioned literally last until the clothes are washed, and 1 on the wrist with a quick rub 😂 you could even do 2 on the neck and/or clothes
For me, the wrist gets me almost a full working day. Paired with a spray or 2 on my cloths, i feel like i have a signature scent that every1 will smell if they are close enough to have a conversation with me. Im not choking people out like some of the people i work with just by walking past them 😂
For me, fragrance is an extension of your self and your personality.
I’ve had crazy reactions from strangers using these techniques so I’ll just stick to them
i only spray on clothes mainly cause i usually wear stuff that covers the skin. a plus would be it's easier on my liver.
You didba great job!! Subbed!!
Instructions unclear - rubbed my wrists together, spontaneously combusted and blew both my hands off.
You just earned a subscriber.
thank you so much🙏🫡
The neck is most important and a good spot to apply your fragrance because thats the warmest part of your body I usually do 3 sprays max 2 on both sides of the neck and one on the back I don’t spray anywhere else I just try to avoid spraying near the throat.
Not sure of your science, but you look good. So, I'll believe you!
So you don't understand basic laws of chemistry?
i hydrate my skin with fractionated coconut oil and 20 minutes later apply fragrance and it does last longer
What’s your other channel called?? (The one mentioned in the video w the science part of your experiment)
What if I want to rub one off after applying fragrance?
Most 8-12. Some you use up half a bottle and it will still be gone in 1hr.😂
5) I have $300~$500 bottles. And I have $20~$60 bottles. If you are not a snob collector, it doesn't what fragrance you use as long as you like it and it's not offensive to others around you go ahead. But if you are starting out, I recommend you at least get from an established fragrance brand or house.
Just my 2 cents.
