  • We used 2x4 wood and plywood to build a platform to sit on top of the truck bed, so we could transport a patio door. We screwed small pieces of scrap wood into the 2x4s, to act as cleats, so the 2x4s wouldn't shift or move laterally. We placed the sliding glass door frame and stationary panel on the platform we had built on the truck bed and placed the sliding glass door sliding panel in the bed of the truck. We secured the patio door frame and panels with rope and transported the door home.

LOL! We are old, but we keep movin' along. It's not the age: it's the mileage. :)

I was under the impression that sliders should be transported vertically. Nice work though.

Thank you. Maybe the case, CRIS. But, we transported another slider and have had no issues with either of them. If you have a bigger truck, you can make a frame in the bed, cleat it in and transport it vertically. We didn't have that, and it worked out fine. Sister and I are old and old-school DIYers who don't believe much of what we hear from corporations anymore. So, we figure things out ourselves.
