I've been hoping you'd do a lap in a Lotus 7 clone. Caterham seems to be the best of the lot so now I'll have to wait until you go in one set up for racing. Those things are crazy fast. Great video! Thanks!
Caterhams are not Lotus 7 clones, they are the Lotus 7. When Lotus wanted to discontinue the 7, becausecthey were still selling well, Caterham Cars bought the rights to the 7 design and the tooling from Lotus.

Good driving. Though, I thought he was being modest when at first he said "it's not that fast." I expected it to be a lot faster, but that thing is like slow civic performance with above average handling (in this config). It's nothing like the 620R

Errrr.... I once saw a 5.3 V8 928 towing a trailer-tent round the Nordschleife.
After I'd overtaken it in my "slightly modified" 1953 Triumph Mayflower, I waved and crashed.......
"355 hp per ton... so if we had two tons... it'd be...(checks math) 600hp!" Misha got some balls getting into a car with a guy who can't do math.
Very nice drive and just shows you don't need raw horse power to do the business

Damn that gimbal noise is bad with the gopro one I assume. I wonder if it could be filtered out or if you could add little bit rubber to dampen the sound. It's not that annoying or anything but you can really notice it when listening with headphones. But I really like the speed and all the data on the screen! How do you do it?
OMG! Take a look at the fuel gauge at the beginning (2:46) and the end of the lap (14:04). Either this thing is thirsty a.f. or the tank is rather small...
The gauges are comedy. No movement for ages and then the tank appears to drain like a bath tub without a plug! I’ve NEVER got more than £30’s worth of super unleaded into my 420R

Interesting question Misha.. do you think brexit will affect trade at the Nurburgring? Just noticed the amount of British that visit and didn't know if you think it would change much with border controls etc?

Oh don't get me wrong, Brexit is just what this country needs! Just wondering if Misha thinks it'll change much at the ring.. personally I'd imagine not but worth thinking about! :)
I think less British would come as often, but those who really want to, will go there anyway. Every industry will be hurt by brexit, as for the Ring, it'll only be in the first years I think. It's a matter of time and getting used to the new situation. I'd love to be able to go to the UK without too much fuss, but that won't be possible either. From a global economic stand point it just makes for an annoying situation, only thing I can hope for is that it actually works out there.
I hope you'll right Edward, but maybe you're too young to remember when borders were "there"... even between France and Belgium it was a pain-in-the-well-you-know.
And ask Misha if he didn't had a Dutch passeport, but only Russian... Sometimes it's such a discouraging mess.
Edward is right.. It's the the first few years while everything is settling that it'll be annoying. After that everything will work itself out :)

Ah, that brings back memories. I urgently need to put my Caterham HPC on the Ring again. Funnily the 355R is very similar to my car, not only with roughly the same power (the HPC is a bit heavier) but also with its slightly understeery cornering behaviour.

Nice lap! I was on the track exactly two minutes before you, and Dale was one MINUTE! faster than me (BTG)! There you can see.... it´s not the car! It´s the driver who makes the difference!
dont really like the caterhams, but i would take a ride with dale any time after i watched his N24HR video where he took p3 in the rain on slicks... this guy is a beast. does he still drive the taxi?

this is amazing...video only 7 years old(??!!!),,,but look at the different cars on track compared to 2024.....no 600 hp track monsters to be seen anywhere....just ordinary "dayilies".....good S7...but the old prob...shaped like a brick..no top speed..but still goes through "foxhole" with nearly 200 kmh.....cheers enjoyed that.

Amazing almost feeling it oversteer sliding into corner and then gracefully grip with power on. Not something a UA-cam viewer can sense with normal cars.
One of the best video laps from a Caterham. Great commentary Great driving and the best conditions to get the best out of the car. Owning an original Lotus Seven means that watching these videos makes me smile and happy that Graham Nearn kept the spirit alive. I’m sure Chapman is smiling down too.
Looked like driving a train, cornering like it was on tracks. Not much top speed though. I guess it is the first car I have seen who lost speed while diving into Fuchsrohre.

Maximum in 5th, if you downshift and go again to the redline then shift, you’ll get more out of it

This is one of, if not my favorite track car’s. Everything is just right in the Caterham. However, a roll cage is a must I believe as I strongly believe the crash rating isn’t a 5 star as the smart car. But a truly fun track toy for shore!
They're great fun on the road too. You don't need a roll cage, just a roll bar and some common sense. ;-)

It is insane how much speed you can carry into a corner because there is ZERO weight pushing you on. Who needs top speed if your average speed doesn't drop without it?
My best track record was 39min 56 sec (PIAGGIO CIAO SL - no windshield). Jokes apart is a beatiful circuit !!! :)

Bucket list is the wrong term I think - I've just realized this is a track and a place I expect to spend time in future. Now I want to take my NC MX5 to tracks! I can see the fun to be had despite the low power.

The best looking car ever, from the outside, is the Bentley Continental R from the early '90s. The best looking car ever, from the inside looking out, is the Caterham 7!
I was lucky enough to own one (1400 K series) and when you are driving it, it is heaven. You also get a LOT of positive comments and looks and thumbs up from passers by and people you are passing by.
In continuous production since the '50s, arguably the greatest true sports car of all time.
Great cars. Just think the 620r has 310bhp, almost double this car. Bonkers
really nice driving there mate, beautiful car and wow your just blitzing past everyone. some of the other cars and drivers were dangerously slow. This kind of driving experience reminds me of driving on the Isle of Man on the TT mountain section when its one way during the race weeks.
Those tires have a lot of grip, i was surprised how much speed your taking some corners and for sure know that track. I guess the 40 people who put a thumbs down must be the ones you overtook haha.

this thing needs another gear, 190 max is just too slow, no matter how good it accelerates
300 hp per ton is like a Miata with about 360 hp... no wonder it's fast!
And they feel like they have 50% more power when you take the windscreen off. Great fun car!!
