Came across this instrument when researching some stuff about middle-eastern culture, and I have to say I really love the sound and the variability of its sounds. It's like the middle-eastern version of the japanese Koto or the chinese Guqin. It also doesn't hurt that he's playing it amazingly either ;p

I don't think Aytaç plays the same way; this guy has put so much of techniques, which in my humble opinion, reduced the beauty of this unique instrument. The way he played gave no speciality or uniqueness to this instrument and it sounded like a guitar. Aytaç makes the qanoun sounds like qanoun.

Just look inside any piano, and you will find its construction similar to this instrument. Thus, it shows that piano is an extended form of Qanun.

Kanun and Qanun are the same thing, I assume the spelling changes depending on the country.
Santour is similar to a hammered zither: it's a trapezoidal zither , and strings get hit with two small sticks to produce the sound 🎼
