Welcome to Oregon! Take a first look at Crater Lake-Klamath Regional Airport as we capture the morning operations of the locally based F-15 Eagles from the 173rd Fighter Wing (173 FW). This video features mostly taxi and takeoff footage as these powerful jets launch for their morning training sorties.
🌟 The airport serves general aviation, military aviation, and limited airline flights, but its most notable role is as Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base, home to the Oregon Air National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing. As an Air Education and Training Command (AETC)-gained unit, the 173 FW specializes in advanced air-to-air combat training for both Regular Air Force and Air National Guard F-15 pilots. The unit also hosts joint and combined air combat exercises with other U.S. military branches and Canada, making it a critical hub for fighter pilot training.
🚀 Kingsley Field is also home to a USAF flight surgeon training school and has been recently selected as the next F-35A Lightning II training location, gradually retiring its F-15 Eagles in preparation for the arrival of the next-generation fighter.
