I first heard of Flora when I was listening to one of Santana's cd title "Welcome" and I heard her on the song "Yours is the light." Since then, I always wanted to know more about and I was overwhelmed to find so many great albums. I have a hard time deciding which one is my favorite.
Same here. Right after I first hear Welcome, I went to record stores to buy up all the albums I could find with Flora on them. It was a whole new huge chapter of music opening up in my life .

Flora Purim is the best (jazz) vocalist ever. She is just sublime. Even better than the great billy Holliday. Nobody can match her vocal virtuosity and technique.
I hate the term "best," and I've ACTIVELY listened to Flora Purim since the late 70's and she is very talented (I had many of LP's now have may of her CD's) ...my favorite: Neusa Teresa (see ua-cam.com/video/16d6a6654YA/v-deo.html). I do enjoy Eliane Elias, Tania Maria, Cesária Évora and Purim all are IMO are excellent, sound like sight or any other sense is subjective. I'm grateful to have seen most of 'em in a live performance. This is coming from a non Brasilian, Afro person.

O que me deixa feliz é que representam com louvor o nome do nosso país mundo afora, já o que me deixa triste é que a cada dia tem mais rebolation nas nossas rádios.

Imperdoável o que fizeram com o percussionista Naná Vasconcelos, que participa nesse vídeo, confundindo-o com Airton Moreira que também é brasileiro e um grande músico. Naná Vasconcelos é um dos mais reconhecidos talentos de que temos conhecimento. Além da correção, necessária e urgente, seria de bom tom uma retratação pessoal.

This are all great, fabulous musicians! And the greatest songs! I'm a huge fan of Oscar and Eliane Elias, but why does the producers have sooo much power over the musicians, trying to make "how many songs and solos"? in 4:47 minutes??
That is not how I listen to or play the Brazilian music! Wished to hear the whole songs! that's how the groove and the musicians get to express themselves. The world is moving way too fast! That was speeding through without emotions and not to blame the amazing musicians but this foolish producers! The arrangers are paid to do it, so don't blame them!
A disappointing performance. Out of tune and out of rythm. Or may be it's because of the bad sound.
Dirk K - Flora goes out occasionally, maybe intimidated by Eliane and her combo of beauty and voice not to mention, piano....but Flora is a magical creature and is Unique. Floras music 🎼 directed my life from 75 to 85. I see her as a tropic flower 🌺 that exudes a potent fragrance, capable of enticing me to join the Faeries of the Amazon Jungle...

If I can only say one thing about music, it's the one thing that's got me through all the rough patches throughout life...
