You are a wonderful surprise box. At the present time, thanks to this channel, I have discovered Anna Kuzina and Heikki Suolahti, among others. My musical culture is improving every minute.

Какая прекрасная симфония. Мне очень много лет, а я слышу её впервые и только благодаря UA-cam

I didn`t know at all that Japan once had such a talented composer before World War II. It`s quite lamentable that he died so young.

The orchestra, by the way, is the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia.

I very much doubt if this is a work in the "MUST HEAR" category, but a good one nonetheless. I hear Dukas in the scherzo, and if I had no idea who the actual composer was, I would have guessed Alan Hovaness. And that WAS a complement. I need to track down and listen to more of this composer's works. This is the very first time I have heard ANY of Kishi's music. Certainly not to be heard on our two local classical music radio stations.

I was going to write the same thing about Dukas! Also in some places this reminded me of Kalinnikov too.

Disagree....Just now, even on first hearing, it strikes as a monumental work of astounding structure and 'comprehensible' innovation. Echoes of Hovhaness, sure. Let's see what else he has on UA-cam?

It's kind of like violin and cello concerto.

The best part is 4:26 to 5:20 and 13:58 to 14:54 after violin and cello solo.

Même si Kishi est issu d'une culture sensiblement différente de la nôtre, sa symphonie ne permet pas de distinguer la moindre influence orientale !
