Thank you so much for posting this, Kat! I have been on the hunt for a Phiddipus Regius and Velvet Spiders for a few months now and haven’t had much luck (aside from finding them on some sites I didn’t feel confident about). You’ve mentioned Tom before but I wasn’t sure how stocked he is with spiders so I never reached out to him. So this video and comment have come at the right time. I will be emailing him tonight. ☺️
@@tarantulakat sorta lol I watch the videos not always on UA-cam don’t really trust sites and local stores don’t sell any they sell Ts I’m afraid of spiders besides jumpers. This young youtuber that have Ts said I should get a jumper. It a help me with my fear.
I reached out to Tom after discovering & getting addicted, thanks to you Kat. You helped me with my fear. Once I get my enclosure from Cribs, I’ll check back in with Tom on his stock. Thanks for teaching some of us former Arachnophobics how sweet spiders and what a joy it is to keep them!
I actually had a red phase male jump into my car outside of my job and just chill on my leg for the longest time until I coaxed him into my hand so I could put him on a tree. I wanted to keep him so bad but I knew my mom would freak out if I brought a spider home😂
You gave me a new perspective on jumping spiders when I started watching your videos! I never understood the hype until I watched you bond with your lil babies and provide badass enclosures for them!
So happy to see you get these guys! These guys were my first jumping spiders and I'm happy to say I have a clutch coming very soon. My mama's named Huffy and we love her to pieces, she's incredibly gentle and nice to everyone.
I love red back jumping spiders! They used to terrify me for years, but recently I befriended one in my backyard! They are all over where I live, I see them all the time in the summer and they are one of the coolest spiders I’ve seen:)
At the beginning of the pandemic one of these red backed babies visited my windowsill nearly every day :) I would leave out little caps of water for it and always got a few sweet photos. I’m pretty sure we formed a pretty close bond because they even came up on my hand one day! Loved that lil freakin dude
A red back was the first jumper I kept and they've been the majority I've worked with, all of them wild catches because they're local to me and so it's so nice to see other people keeping them
Nice to see you using the new enclosures you just got! They really look amazing, especially the one with the pointed roof. I don't know if I'd ever get jumping spiders, but they are pretty adorable. I always look out for similar ones out under the rocks in front of my house.
@@wrotebladi true true, I see them all over. But it's funny because there's a specific rock I'm referring to where I can always find a similar looking spider. I'm not sure if it's the same one or if it keeps reproducing.
I have to say, I am a person with arachnophobia and I was kinda terrified each time you were getting out the spiders, but I love hearing people talk about what they like and watch as they share their passion. You sound so happy just like I am with my animals, and I love that. I loved their little homes you made and how you look so confident talking. Even if spiders are not my favourite, you look like a good person and whatever animal you decide to take home, you look like someone who will take great care of them, and that is enough for me to appreciate your video.
Johnsoni are native here in Washington state. I actually have them in my backyard, and something really interesting is that all of the ones I find in my yard are missing the exact same leg. It's either a really crazy coincidence, or a genetic thing 😂
Wait we have them here?! Wow i’m going to have to keep an eye out! I’m in washington too and i’ve only ever found a couple of jumpers. They're so cute!
I live in Washington as well, and we do have some beautiful jumpers. I saw a black one with like white dots on abdomen and a little green on areas , I rescued it from my living room and took outside.
I have 3 red back females and all had like 30 babies it’s funny to watch the babies hunt love the reds on them they have such cute faces❤️ Congratulations tarantula Kat 🥳🤪

I'm not a spider 🕷🕸fan . But, when I bought my new car there was a jumping spider living in my sunglass cubby. Sooo I rehoused him and he's been a good pet for the last 2yrs. They really do have cute faces 😆
I have some baby jumping spiders living on my pineapple plant in my house for the winter months. They’re still living in the web mama built for them. I have 3-4 adult jumpers living in my house, mostly around the window blinds where they can catch flies. Very cool spiders!
I love the way you open your new Spiders. You're so gentle and delicate. Your fingers and hands are really pretty. Watching you open up things is like opening presents at Christmas. You get so excited! Who knew opening up paper towel bundles could be so entertaining to watch. I basically watch your videos sometimes just to watch you do stuff. You're so artsy craftsy!😆😆 those 2 little houses you've made are SO EFFING ADORABLE!! I love the tiny Amanita Muscaria mushrooms you've put in there are perfect. I expect to see a little forest faery in their somewhere playing with their new friends!
All the different jumping spider species are so interesting to see and learn about. I'm a new keeper as of today, and already there's so many species I'd love to keep one day, not just jumpers, but tarantulas too. My jumper is a p. princeps, he's currently i5 and so sweet and adorable, already wanting to be handled and interacting with me. I'm falling more and more in love with spiders as time goes on!
A whole new world of products for spider Keepers that weren't around a couple of years ago. I think you and all of the spider collectors has created a need in the market for you guys and reptile owners! I've seen such change and growth in your community in these past 3 years... when I first started watching all of you guys and gals!!
I saw one in person for the first time today. I was out in my front yard catching flies for my pet jumping spider. I saw something on the ground and thought it was a fly, but instead of green, it was black with a bit of red. I wanted a closer look so I tried to coax it into my container that I was using to catch flies with. When I put the container in front of it, it turned around to look at it, so I knew it was a species with good eyesight, likely another jumper. A quick photo upload to iNaturalist revealed that it's a Phiddipus johnsoni. I've never seen this species of jumper in person before, so I'm definitely keeping it. It still has the four dots on its back, so I guess it's not mature yet. I'm really hoping that it matures female.
jumping spiders are cleaver and cute, they are one of those arachnids that will Eye to Eye you and somewhat listens, they think and plan things. before they do something
As an Aussie seeing red back made me think oh no 😲then saw jumping spider. 🙂 We have the redback spider (Latrodectus hasselti), also known as the Australian black widow. It's highly venomous.😵💫 These babies look super adorable!!
I wish I was one of those super cute jumping spiders just for living in those stunning and extra cute houses! you should be an interior designer as me! I'm telling you every time I can because you really rock on that!!!!!! Love you a bunch sweetie! 👩❤👩
I found one of these beauts in a pack of grapes the other year. Gave me a real fright especially with the colouration! But it was a sweetie. Survived a night or two in the fridge, too.
I had a female Johnsoni myself and from what I heard they’re supposed to be more aggressive than other species, but she was so easy to maintain and keep, I only kept her because she was missing a leg when I found her and it was winter time in my backyard so when it became spring I released her back into the bushes with her newly grown leg, beautiful experience.
They are native here to California I recently caught one in my yard it was 56 Fahrenheit and good thing I brought it in it wasn’t eating but a week later I had the heater on in my room and it ate some mealworms
Where I live in california this species thrives in my citrus trees, they were always friendly and fun, I never had outstanding bug issues either, I never spray for anything and the redbacks keep everything at bay, they get to be a good size
Phiddipus johnsOni is one of the more common and easy to identify here on the Central Coast of California. They often take a moment from their busy day to stop and wave at me. They have white/grey pedipalps That remind me of striped socks. They show up around mid-to-late summer. I don't try to contain them, just watch their normal activity. Thanks for a very nice video.🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷😄
Beautiful spiders! I love your Videos and Saltacidae is one of my favorite archnid family. I wish you much fun with your new cuties! Best wishes DJ DOG CEMETERTY
Your videos are so enjoyable to watch... the spiders and enclosures and everything are so cool it makes me want to get some of this stuff... but also, your personality is very likeable. Great stuff!
I just got a adult female fidipus johnsoni today at work... Saw her scurrying across the ground at the gas station and didn't want her to get stepped on so just put my hand down she crawled up into it and stayed on my hands for about a half an hour before I thought I should get a container to put her in and take her home. Most jumping spiders I find at work hang out for a few minutes and then take off
I just hatched these cuties in the summer and they were so so tiny but even after 6 months they have grown so much but are still so tiny. Momma jumper is so gorgeous and so fun to feed these curious little mini wolves lol
Oh hey!! I had one that looked like the orange one land on my shoulder, when I set the little guy on the ground, he kept trying to follow me like a stray cat lol, I finally had to put him on a tree for his own good.
Ooooooo I'm always so intrigued by your spiders and tarantulas ! Always love your set ups too!!! I'm glad you sound like you're feeling much better too!
