Tommy Tallarico is the type of guy to claim he had 'devised blood tests that require very small amounts of blood and that could be performed rapidly and accurately, all using compact automated devices in which his company had developed'... Glad he only lied about a gaming system...
4 hours of the video will be about all the games he "supposedly" worked on. About another two hours will be a tour of his house. And about an hour and half will be about how he cried the first night he arrived in LA. Then with the left over time he might talk about the Amico.....maybe.... Though it will probably be about the "haters".
The most fascinating part of this is that, despite being twice the length, this has hardly any information crossover with Hbomberguy's video. Meaning there is 6 hours of Tallarico's lies to sift through. Christ alive, Tommy is done lmao
Slopes missed a lot too, or chose to cut it out. Like the person who ran the middle east offices being family members with the guy who got the $100 per console loan.
I'm amazed about this as well. Altho Hbomberguy had a certain, kind of limited viewpoint. Yeah I'm late, but didn't have the energy to watch this much more than feature length presentation before... But goddamn this is good.
I clicked on this even though I’d seen hbomb’s video figuring it was gonna be similar, but was down to hear this guy get dunked on some more for a while cause that’s always fun. Was not expecting so much more to be here!
I met Tommy Tallarico at an autograph singing in 2006 or 2007 when he was doing the VideoGames Live tour with orchestras. I asked him at the time why certain fracnhises like Metroid were not a part of videogames live (at least, at the time) and his answer was conisending and offputting - basically "oh come on, who would want to hear an orchestra play Metroid music"? .....how about the same fucking audience that came to listen to hear other game music from an orchestra. Jesus.

Idk if this story is connected with something that happened to me as a 19 year old, but one time i emailed the people behind dark age of camelot bitching about how they nerfed a class in the game and COMPLETELY ruined my character right. I sent it too their suggestions email... i got back an email the next day that said something to the effect of "gfys, this is my first game, i'm doing my best! If you dont like it, unsub and gtfo!" It's a level of absurdity only matched by former dictator of equitroial guinea francisco marcias ngyema declaring himself "master of education and culture" and then shutting down the schools and having every educated professional in the country shot because he hated them for being smart.
This video represents a never-before-used technique where Tommy created the sounds first (with his mouth) and Slope designed the video around those sounds
Tommy's story is a true greek tragedy. He got so invested in his own legacy that he ended up sabotaging it entirely just because he couldn't handle the thought of someone not liking him.
Exactly. Unlike his former boss, who would do something like buy Tell Tale Games and rebrand it to Tommy Tallerico Games and tease sequels to all their old IP that turns into vapourware.
There is a lot of people like him, not in the way he talks and brag about what his allegedly accomplishments but in the sense of being a CEO of a company (like Elon) or a huge brand name (like Hans Zimmer) that take credit or get the credit of the work that has been done for dozen, hundreds and even thousands of people.
God it was such a drinking game after a while. Every single "Wouldn't it be cool if..." statement was met with "Funny you should say that" or "we're in meetings discussing that" or "We're talking to the company about it" He's just that guy that we all know who promises to paint your fense for you or put up shelves, or bring your lawnmower back. The guy who loves to make promises and be everyone's pal...but doesn't really want to do the work because that's hard.
Imagine being so full of shit that someone can make a 2 hour video about you, and someone else entirely in a different genre can make a 4 hour video on you and there is very little overlap LMFAO Love you slopes. I don't blame you for wanting to believe in the idea of the amico. as a retro game fan, it was like a dream come true. tallarico was just the wrong person for it. also, thank you for keeping yourself accountable.
I watched this one before Hbomberguy's, so going from "okay, obvious narcissist had an utterly disasterous attempt at making a console" to "holy shit almost the entirety of aforementioned obvious narcissist's career might actually be a lie and it only came to light because a UA-camr wanted to do a funny video about the Roblox OOF sound" actually broke me. What a rollercoaster.
I thought cool. Then was sad. Then Google and saw there was an app to play. Looked it up...Sadness. Actually hilarious they'd want 15 bucks to play a beta version for Shark, Shark?!? FU Probably could have funded it with it free with 3 games and extras, as beta, being like 1.99 to 2.99... Easy to get 1 million to pay 1.99 3x's then 10 people to pay 15, once?!? Baffling sometimes.
Wow, can you believe Tommy Tallarico did ALL the music and sound effects for this video? Tommy should totally get ALL the money and credit for all the hard work he did on this. He worked hand-in-hand with Slope for 5 years making this. He deserves 12 more guinnis world records for his work here alone on top of the SEVEN DIFFERENT ones for totally separate things he already has earned. Two hundred million people watched this live in his house's egypt room alone!
I don’t know why he didn’t just say “discriminatory”?? I mean it still would’ve been weird to say but it’s slightly more appropriate than “racist”. Same with everything else he said.
Tommy is one of those guys who had a successful career and should have just put it in cruise control and live a peaceful life but he ended up being a meme.
I'm curious if he did. I have a hunch he's been a BS artist from the start. He just popped out of nowhere in the 2000s. Everyone was suddenly talking about him as if he were a well-known legend. Strangely, no one I know had ever heard of him!
@@AllardRT nope. He claimed to have done a lot of music, but many people have now dug a little further, and it appears that he never did much if any at all. Earthworm Jim? A ripped classical midi. Sonic? Looks like he took credit of other people’s work. Prince of Persia? Nope. There are possibly one or two pretty bad Genesis menu mods that are his, but that's about all.
@@FinnGamble First of all, I never said he did them, I said he was CREDITED in them. Second, what does his work on Sonic and the Black Knight (a Wii game) and whatever the hell he did for Prince of Persia have to do with 16-bit work? @@AllardRT fair enough. I misread you for debating my original point, but I see now. I still think his celebrity came out of nowhere. Ya know, after watching a two hour video on Tommy Tallarico and his nonsense, I never thought I'd be watching another video double the length. But here we are, four hours later. Cripes, this whole thing was so insane.
You missed the 3 fake competitions Tommy held with zero winners, and broke all the requirements for a legal competition, and probably broke some copyright laws as well. The sweepstake where you had to buy an item to enter, making it a lottery, which is illegal in the USA. The Earthworm Jim competition. And the free Amico giveaway per month, starting 2019, which has not been declared as ended. 4 years, no winners announced.
I hate to see such a great character like earthworm jim, having his awesome franchise be wrapped up in all this bullshit. Its like what happened with duke nukem and dnf, and then gearbox just shelfing him, instead of selling the franchise.
When Noah Katz of Artesian Builds held a contest and denied the prize to the winner, he got so much backlash and his company and reputation crashed and burned so quickly and lost everything from it. I'm surprised that Tommy slipped away with that. But word has it Noah legally changed his name so he backed away even harder than Tommy.
@@ccricers I think the major thing there is Noah was being scrutanized by the entirity of techie youtube/twitter/etc. So he ended up getting blasted really hard. Tommy's name usually only shows up in videos like this, by people who only care about retro gaming stuff. The most notoriety he gets anymore is when the occasional video comes up that a small portion sees, rather than everyone following Gamer's Nexus. The Amico is a loch ness monster to the gaming public. A weird, fake legend that people chuckle under their breath about, rather than a legit scam that is still happening. Someone's doing some digging into tommy's musical career and it has turned out he's been submitting other people's works for a while. Especially on Sonic and the Black Knight. People are now digging into claims that during VGL he might not actually be playing guitar
Yes, it's the phrase of choice for patronizing parents everywhere, knowing if they don't take two deep breaths and forcefully suppress their rage, they'll lose it so completely that the Social Services might show up.
I think the most annoying part of all this is how much stuff actually got done, they got the money, they got the licences, they got the hardware, they got the people and the games. But he just kept adding and adding until it collapsed in on itself like a black hole
The project had potential but they had the wrong person running the company this is the result of ignorance, arrogance, let alone attacking strangers online instead of focusing on the task.
HBomberguy already left me with a bad impression about Mr. Tallarico. But seeing the whole Amico scandal summarized made me realize how much of a grifter he was acting like. I wonder what would had happened if he hadn't created his cult-like following base or spent so much time fighting the haters and the not-so-haters.
He'd have released a mediocre console on time, is what would have happened. All he had to do was not say yes to everything and leave the financial decisions to someone else. He could keep being the face of the company, but he should have had a PR team holding him back at every turn.
To be very slightly fair to Tommy, Life Celebrations are a thing. They're meant to...well, celebrate the person's life, not mourn it. Doesn't change the very...eccentric move of pitching a product at an event that's supposed to be used to give closure to the dead person's loved ones...
why tommy thinks people hate mobile games: • they're "gaming racist" why most people actually hate mobile games: • shallow gameplay • overload with microtransactions • every other screen loads an ad • loads of manipulative designs to push microtransactions that always degrade the enjoyment of the game (e.g. in game currencies, energy systems, grind/paywalls)
I mean, there are _some_ mobile games that are actually good, but I can’t exactly blame most gamers for not being willing to wade through all the other ones just to find the rare gem, especially since even most of the gems still aren’t exactly gonna blow you away. Me? My main problems with mobile games are with lackluster ports that feel like they were just shoved onto the market without much quality-control, annoyingly placed or overused ads (I don’t mind some, but they can be excessive), an overreliance on or poor implementation of microtransactions even for games that shouldn’t need them at all (again, having some is fine for some games if done properly, but it often is not), and the erroneous belief that touchscreen controls are always a suitable replacement for buttons (spoiler: they’re not). There are some that I think are still good (like visual novels or similar games like Ace Attorney, or that one game whose name escapes me (Infinity Blade?)), and some even work best with a touchscreen (like the various Angry Birds games), but they’re becoming increasingly difficult to find, with some no longer even being available (like the first few Angry Birds games). I will say that, with regards to shallow gameplay, I think that’s mostly a matter of taste combined with some specific kinds of games (idle games, Candy-Crush clones, and PaD clones) being overrepresented in the market compared to the depth of their gameplay. A lot of games appear shallower than they actually are, though. They just don’t offer the same _type_ of depth that many console or PC games offer.
Years ago, I got a $100 visa gift card for christmas. My life went on, the card ended up in a box and I forgot about it and changed houses. Then, one day, I needed money, and was scrounging around my stuff for *anything*... and I found that card again. But a year too late. The card was expired. Unusable. The situation where I was starved for money has passed, but I really had to stop and mourn for this card at the time. But now, I feel a sudden peace about that. Because at least I didn't spend that $100 on an Amico preorder.
I had no idea who Tommy was before this video. Being as tactful as I can, I don’t think I would like to ever be in the same room physically or virtually with Tommy. I would now like to go back to having no idea who he is.
To his credit Tommy was a successful VG composer before becoming a "personality" . He just got lost in the sauce. Surrounded by too many sycophants and "yes men" might do that to you.
@@pheenmachine Funny you should mention that. See, Tommy Tallarico has largely been regarded as a successful VG musician because Tommy Tallarico said so. Yet when his early roles were indicated, they were typically in QA or management. Add to this that his name was rarely the only one featured in the game credits under "music." Make of that what you will.
it really feels like Tommy would hear or see somebody comment about a cool game they'd want to see (like with the guy who brought up Contra) and he'd just immediately say "oh, yeah, we're actually working on that, yeah, it's gonna be so cool" almost like that one kid on the playground at school that REALLY wants everybody to like him to the point where he just spits out the first most grandiose thing he can think of to impress the other kids but that's just like my opinion man
It's like they used the Microsoft strategy of claiming they have a software to impress people and then deliver it later, the difference being that Microsoft did that once while Tallarico did it hundreds of times
That's absolutely what he does. "It'd be cool to see a movie based on shark shark or astroid smash" "funny you mention those two titles. That's all I'll say for now 😉" Then when you ask him later what's up with those movie tie ins, he'll have a blank look because he spews so much made up BS he can't keep track of it all, and when he's shown proof he said it, he'll say, "I never said there were movies in the works! I just said that's funny he mentioned them." As if he has no clue what he was clearly implying.
@@bluedistortions When someone tried to reaffirm vague confirmations he would just say "we're just talking here" while at the same time trying to raise money and appease his followers. His posts at AtariAge were never a development blog, because if they were, he wouldn't have acted so squirrelly and defensive when people asked him more pressing questions. He was clearly trying to have it both ways.
After watching this several times I'm struck by tommy's cult leader like behaviour when he's talking to anyone about the amico, it goes way way way beyond just really "believing in the product" and into rather sinister territory. Hearing the story of how he love bombed slopes into thinking that they were friends, made all sorts of seemingly "kind hearted" promises and kept the charade going so long as slopes was being complimentary too the amico before denouncing and casting him out for expressing even the slightest doubt in the veracity of things that were being said was bad enough, but watching him trying to do it too that 14 year old kid made my skin crawl because he knew he was talking to a child yet couldn't help but engage in that same creepy predatory behaviour.
When he says hes "in talks" with publishers over licencing specific properties what i think he actually means is they sent out mass emails asking what licences they would give him for a tenner.
I couldn’t stand those moments like he’s being wreck less and setting a bad example as a person who was in charge to go out and publicly make loads of empty promises like he’s some big shot like he thinks he’s got all the connections and has it in the bag- he’s a sleazy salesman not a leader
The kind of guy that gets invited to dinner after-which he takes the group photo and turns it into a "yea, the boys!" announcement that x or y old-ass game is being re-made just 'cause they had some banter about the good old days when they weren't all rocking dad bods. It must be tiring and embarrassing to be anywhere near Tommy for any period of time after all the bullshit lies Harry exposed.
This video confirmed one thing I have learned in life, and that is don't trust an "entrepreneur" who shows their brand new offices and furnitures rather than their work and achievements. The best case scenario, you will be just another trophy for him.
I'm honestly most interested in when Tommy goes onto these podcasts and shows and then just picks fights with the chat. Imagine being some tiny retro gaming podcast and you get something from the CEO of a video game company and whose company worked on hundreds of video games. You're thrilled and you bring him onto your show to talk about games and whatnot and the entire time he just sits there and yells at random dudes in your chat
Yeah, Tommy seriously needed to get his priorities straight; he couldn’t let even the most valid complaints from the most unimportant of people pass without yelling at them, took it so personally he it went over anything else, and he not only thought it made him look good, but that it was a good use of his time when he had a product to get made.
Probably bad for PR. It would just Streisand this thing into the mainstream when Amico saga is very niche. .....besides I'd doubt they even noticed Tommy said it.

Even if you ignore Tommy's utterly insane behavior, even if COVID-19 had never happened, the spending would have killed this thing. A familiar story, but having multiple, MASSIVE offices before they even had an actual product or steady revenue stream (and no, ivestments and grants do not cout as stable revenue streams) is utterly insane. Same thing happened to OnLive and I think one of the Eidos offices. Dude was spending like Valve, except not only did they not have Steam, they didn't have a Half-Life or Team Fortress.

At first I was like "what's wrong with a life celebration instead of a funeral" and then I saw that Tommy called it that simply because he doesn't like the word funeral. What the heck. Edit: the voice acting for Tommy's AtariAge rants is absolute perfection
Or it's possible that he called it a life celebration because leveraging someone's history in gaming to pitch his scam console at their funeral would be seen as a pretty scummy thing to do. Life celebrations are great but IMHO tommy had ulterior motives in calling it that.
This wasn't an apology, because he blatantly avoided any acknowledgement of the fact he could have broke the story about Tony being a scammer, but chose not to in order to be a star fucker.
@@maize5 He literally said he didn't research the project and only backed upon seeing Earthworm Jim teased during the FIG section of the video... This is complete madness; it wasn't enough for the guy to just make a retro games console, he needed it to be the biggest, hottest, and greatest thing next to sliced bread. And, whenever someone said anything counter to that (because they weren't delusional), he just couldn't ignore them. What an absolute nutter.
The shit he pulled at the funeral makes me so viscerally angry, I can’t believe nobody punched him in the face for selling something at a “close friend”’s funeral
The Amico from the jump is a case of biting off more than they could chew. They should've just hopped on the mini console trend of the era. A well-curated, well-presented Intellivision Mini akin to the NES Classic or Genesis Mini could've done quite well. I'd've bought one.
They did that, and while it could be just that they had terrible marketing, The intellivision flashback was exactly that and it unfortunately sold really badly. AtGames used INTVs own emulator on the machine as well, so it had brilliant emulation for what it was - unfortunately AtGames changed the machines specs before launch without telling them and the first run didn't work very well. This may have been what doomed it - allegedly the atari flashback released at the same time outsold it at a rate of 8 to 1. Anyway the failure of that was Keith's last project and because it did so badly, it was a large part of what allowed Tommy to swoop in and take over the company by promising that he'd reinvigorate the brand with the Amico, and make future projects like another flashback more viable and profitable. I reccomend the intellivision flashback, it's great. It's missing one or two classics but it's a good intro to the library.
The most psychotic, bizarre, morally bankrupt and hilarious rabbit hole in recent history. I can’t get enough of the absolute insanity surrounding this mess
Yeah it's so far gone that I wonder if the guy sometimes actually believes what he's stating. Imagine working at Intellivision and having him as your boss... All that time all those employees must have known they were heading for the wall, and couldn't stop the man and his delusions.

Fun fact about the "Karma Gaming Engine": Tommy mentioned that "the (KGE) was some shit we just made up" on a podcast. As mentioned in Hbomberguy's video.
My guess is that Tommy "brilliant" idea for those crappy controllers messed up everything. It raised the price of the console, gave headaches to the developers and was time consuming to produce. You don't want to be too innovative in a first launch console. The games, as far as I understood were supposed to be simple mobile games developed in Unity...but then again, the Amico controllers messed up everything. Basically...Tommy messed up big time!
This is your magnum opus. This is why fate threw you into the Amico saga. You were always meant to create this video. That breakout game looks really, really good.
I'm not seeing much else in the way of mentioning this, but mad respect for owning up to the fact you fell for this scam and took a reputation hit. The "standard" thing to do nowadays it seems is to constantly deny everything and never admit to any mistake, it's nice to see a youtuber with enough of a backbone to admit their mistakes and grow as a youtuber and public figure. idk how much the bell matters really or if it's just a thing youtubers like to ask for, but this made me go from just subbed to subbed with bell; Whatever that's worth.
The whole thing was crazy. He literally couldn’t say no to anything. Like you, I was intrigued by the system, but the system took a backseat to Tommys fragile ego and chasing down of detractors (even 14 year old kids!) Can’t believe I watched 4 hours on this, but testament to the incredible job you did.
Man, watching Tommy pitch the console is like watching videos of Elon Musk pitching full self-drive on Teslas "only months away"... since the mid 2010s.
And his reaction for criticism can be summed up as: "Ha ha ha, look at this wrong guy saying wrong things. You know he's wrong because he's saying I'm wrong, and I'm right so what he says is wrong. Anyway, let's all laugh at the wrong guy"
That's basically what Pat Ian and a lot of other UA-camrs said. And people didn't want this to fail initially (Pat and Ian on the record saying it they wish it success), they were just skeptical. But Tommy tends to see even minor criticism as a big sleight and tends to escalate things. Then you get the big Shill vs Hater wars.
The point of a game system isn't to be "unique." If it was, then the Switch wouldn't have succeeded, all it technically is is an cheap tablet running a modified Linux OS with a garbage browser and cheap, drift-prone Bluetooth joysticks strapped to the side, not too different to the kind you can buy to put on the side of any Android phone/tablet (that are also detachable usually btw)... All of it running on what was, at the time of release, a 4 year old outdated Android tablet/gaming phone SoC which was several generations old and easily outclassed by all flagship smartphones of the same year. But obviously that's a silly thing to judge it by because the whole can be more than the sum of it's parts... Especially when that whole is the only place to play Nintendo games. That said it would be nice if they'd update the damn chip in the thing, it's utter trash and clearly showing it's age by now. Still, for that reason I wouldn't consider the fact that this thing also used an outdated smartphone SoC, just like the switch, a detriment. It definitely had potential and a decently unique gimmick (that could've used some better use cases being shown off for it!), but it would have to actually release when it said, have good exclusives like promised, and not be an absolute laggy unfinished mess.
Listening to/reading Tommys rants is beyond exhausting, I'm so sorry you had to suffer through so much of it to bring us this. Fantastic video by the way, I hope you're as proud of it as Tommys mother is proud of him.
I have the same problem with videos on Tommy, I think we've all known or at least met someone like that who's *always on*. And they're initially charming but it just never stops.
Generally I don't like Pat and Ian (especially Ian) but they handled this all pretty well. Surprisingly well tbh since they have notoriously fumbled the ball quite a few times themselves with their viewers.
I love how Tommy says at the 2:02 mark that, "Ian has no self awareness of how he comes off," yet HE is projecting! Tommy himself is unaware of how deranged and unhinged he comes across as, with too many hours lost to UA-cam and AtariAge forums.
@Pony I don't think Slopes said either way if he tried to talk to Ian about it... so, probably not. Tommy prompted Casanova to bring it up in the first place, just so he could bash Ian. If a message from Ian existed, I think Tommy would have wanted Casanova to put it on screen.
@@nolster1 maybe I am biased but…Slopes did seem kinda dismissive of Pat & Ian but idk, I was one of those people that was really disappointed when slopes did the interview with Tommy & the first half or so of the video kinda redeemed him in my eyes, but from the Casanova section onwards I really couldn’t take anything seriously 🤷🏼♀️
@@ponygrrrl Yeah, he really should have included at least SOME input from Pat & Ian... maybe they didn't want to talk to him. And yes, that Gal Gun unboxing in particular was ridiculous and unnecessary.
All this does is show me just how fucking amazing the wii controller was. That ir sensor and gyroscope was impeccably accurate compared to every other attempt created since. Nintendo are freaking wizards with “underpowered” tech.
They seemed to have a problem here with the touchscreens lagging, but when you think about it, the WiiU's touchpad- whether or not you think it was even a good idea to start with- was very responsive, it never came down to missing inputs there. Intellivision must have been trying to get this tech to work on the cheap or something.
The fact that the switch is selling for $300 ($350 for the Oled) when Xbox and Playstation are asking for $500+ is crazy to me. Obviously the two other consoles are way more powerful, but you can still get a switch lite for under $300 and play a bunch of great games. It sucks that the Amico never really found its market, and Tommy spent so much time trying to become friends with a bunch of terminally online nerds instead
Depending on the game the wii-mote could end up needing calibration real often. And it didn't come with a gyroscope initially, only an accelerometer. That's what the Wii Motion Plus was about, it had a gyroscope in. The WiiMote was an underrated piece of hardware but it's not impossible to recreate, the Playstation Move and basically every VR controller does all the same things, minus IR.
The real question is how anyone got hyped over this. It looks like a collection of terrible flash-games. The old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted" applies here.
I’m familiar with Rerez and they generally want these grandiose projects to actually succeed since Shane himself has often stated that the worst thing for everybody involved in the games industry, the fans and customers included, is for them to crash and burn in such a spectacular fashion to where it affects any and all similar projects still in the works as a result. That’s apparently why they held off making a third and final video on the demise of Google Stadia since they truly were wishing that the team behind that doomed project could turn things around and stop that ship from pulling a Titanic in the process.
Shane also got burned by the All Controller, he really loved the idea of it and not only promoted it but got involved with the company only to realise that it was incredibly ambitious and not as possible as he thought. I feel like that experience not only made him more cautious but also made him more sympathetic towards people whose ambitions outstrip their budget.
@@medes5597 I know I don't have the full context of those videos, but they did seem (based on the clip) to ask quite legitimate questions that SHOULD be asked of any project. It might be a big company, but even those drop projects at the drop of a hat." for example.

Me too. I literally lost it when he mentioned the STORES his Amico were going to, and they were all famously defunct major outlets. "Caldor...BOOM!" and I lost it right there.
The only thing the Barbie movie was missing was a joke at the expense of the Intellivision Amico, considering that Mattel owned the Intellivision before. Also, this movie makes a great double-feature with the Barbie movie.
I'm sorry but a Life Celebration/Earthly Departure/Soul Exodus Festival/Spiritual Going Away Party is not the time to make your SharkTank elevator pitch. Every single Amico purchaser: Look what I bought, son! Now we can play these great old Intellivision games TOGETHER, just like me and your grandpa did! Kid, 45 minutes later: ... Can I go play Fortnight now?...
So much respect on making a 4 hours long video! I hope nobody (besides The Atari Creep I guess, where at least it is understandable) believes in Tommy Tallarico's (or Tommy Scamarico) "Scamico" anymore: Also thank you for crediting my videos! I really appreciate that.
Holy smokes Daniel. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to pay attention to something for four straight hours in quite awhile. This was entertaining, captivating, informative, and never boring. This deserves all the views! Thank you so much for creating this!

Pat and Ian were spot on and ultimately deserves to rag on everyone who were involved project. Sometimes they were too rough with the criticism later but given the attacks they were getting from the Amico cheerleaders, I understand. Unfortunately, they were unable to prevent a lot of people from losing money. Good on you for realizing your mistake, Slope. Not a common trait on the internet sadly.
I think that Review tech USA stream was the only one that crossed the line. Smash JT saying Ian faked his illness was in poor taste, but from my understanding he did reach out, and I think that could have been hashed out and Jeff may have had a chance to apologise for it. Also he is 10k out of pocket, and he isn’t some well to do millionaire dude for whom that’s a weekend out with the boys. All the other stuff, was a bit too petty on their behalf to give it any air time. Like who cares what some random youtuber with a few hundred followers thinks about your business competence? If somebody makes fun of my appearance or how I speak, and I have 10 000x more followers on the internet… like why react to that? That’s like 40 year olds having heated arguments over which is better, SNES or Genesis. …obviously it’s the Mega Drive 😂😂😂
Pat and Ian said some dumb things from the get-go, but Tommy should have let it go, or at least attempted to comment more diplomatically. They legitimately didn't get who the Amico was for. Of course they didn't get it, look at them. They are so clearly not Amico's target market. As was said in this video, Tallarico was CEO, not a UA-cam spokesperson / influencer. While he was spending all his time feeding the trolls, he should have been acting like a leader, and then maybe his company could have pushed something out.
Pat & Ian are retro gamers and if they didn't get the Amico that's on Intellivision for sending mixed signals about who it's marketed towards. Fans have tried to give reasons for this. "It's for non-gamer parents and families." "Then why is the CEO promoting it to retro gamers?" "They are the early adopters." Even the leaked Power Point slides from the company made a mention to use retro gaming channels. The moms, the non-gamer marketing? They phoned it in. Tommy went on one Mom 2.0 podcast, and not much else went on with that. They used the continuous delays as an excuse to not begin the "real marketing".
First Hbomb's video and now this? I can't see how anyone could possibly be in Tommy's corner at this point, the man has been so thoroughly humiliated, I wouldn't be surprised if he simply eliminates any sort of public or internet presence going forward.
Having some insomnia and decided to give this a rewatch, lol. Tommy Tallarico's lashing out at everyone who didn't give undying love to this console reminds me of this hilarious Key & Peele skit where "Mr. T" is part of a cheesy 80's after school PSA but only lectures the kids when they say something that hits his insecurities. Man turned a blind eye to two little kids saying they wanted to do drugs and drink alcohol, but the moment someone said "Your hair looks stupid!", Mr. T (played by Peele) popped out of nowhere and told them off 😂. Also, for the Pat and Ian issue (I don't know these guys, I've never heard of them until this video), Tommy spent so much time screaming about how what they said was wrong, but he acted like he couldn't just write a post correcting their supposed "misinformation". Also, it's not misinformation to truly be curious as to who a console will be aimed towards and to wonder about the serious passion consumers will have to buy it. That did NOT warrant the blowback they got from Tommy! In the time it took that man to craft a childish response, he could've just made a post setting the record straight.
What gets me is that Tommy would not give them the benefit of the doubt that they meant well but were just confused about the target audience, instead saying that they are using their followers to attack Tommy. But when they used Tommy's own words against him, he was SUPER offended, saying he didn't mean it like that. For Tommy, it seems like he can never be the bad guy and if he comes off as one in his wording, he can't be the problem, you're the problem for not seeing what he says correctly. This isn't even bringing up the case where he did intend to say it that way, and he is just gaslighting his audience into making himself look like the good guy being misinterpreted. Either way? He's manipulative
Shane from Rerez said that after their hot take episode on Amico, Tommy sent him and his co host 48 messages and told his Facebook group to message Rerez to have him on the show. Shane basically let him have an interview to get rid of him. The fact Tommy would do that for a bigger youtubers makes me think that Pat and Ian probably had way more shit to put up with from Tommy than we will ever know.
@@medes5597 I'm not a long-time Rerez fan but I've binged their Just Bad games and Worst Console Ever lists multiple times, including yet again just a few days ago. Didn't know they'd been harrassed by Tommy and/or his fanbase like that.
always remember tommy talarico takes credit for what his entire company does don't always worship the guy at the top. Always remember Joey kuras the inventor of the roblox oof sound and composer of some of the sega cd terminator's ost.
Could it though? I mean, Tommy never answered those initial skeptical videos' big question: Who is the target audience for this? Who are they looking to sell to? It seems like just a novelty, or a super-niche thing for people who have intense nostalgia for the Intellivision. And that just seems like far too small an audience for it to have possibly been successful. Weirdly, I think it would have been _better_ if it had begun as a kickstarter, just, "We're making this thing and we know this is how much it'll cost per unit, it'll have these licensed old games on it, and these pledges let us know how many people actually want this so we make as many as there's demand for." Of course that would require them to have known how to design a console and like, manage projects but still! I think it could have worked for something extremely niche like this.
@@Shenaldrac Yeah, even ignoring how it would have needed to carve out its own niche in an industry where it's damn near impossible for any system not run by Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft to find a foothole on the hardware side of things... the whole idea of the Amico being a system built around the idea of couch co-op feels like a solution for a problem that doesn't really exist. Like, even if the Amico had come out, any of the games listed in the video would probably have been found more success if they had come out on the Switch (or better yet, on all of the major consoles of the time + PC) at a similar price to what they would have been on the Amico, or as part of an officially licensed "Intellivision Remastered Collection" for the remakes of the retro games. The entire "console" part of it feels very much like they made a rod for their own back.
Was wondering how you were going to go about this video when it came to your involvement as part of the entire saga. Very impressed with your taking responsibility for your contribution to the Amico story; you've convinced me to finally subscribe after watching your videos for years as a lurker
Slope always had class. He should know that better than anybody seeing as he covers a lot of people who don't. Everyone make mistakes but owning up to it is what's important.
This whole amico fiasco feels like what someone would do if they woke up in an alternate reality where plug and play/ mobile games never existed and decided to make a console using all their forbidden knowledge. Kind of like a video game version of the movie 'Yesterday'. 😂 It's so surreal how detached from reality all these interviews are.
The amazing thing is, while this video is 4 hours long, one could make a 4 hour video about every single point that is brought up and given a few seconds, or at best minutes, of coverage. The Amico rabbit hole goes really, really deep.
Holy crap, I kept having to do stuff, and have been stopping and resuming the video as I find time. I'm only halfway through as I type this and didn't once notice this was a very long video! I've just been asking for the ride, enjoying every minute. That Tallarico is wild...
I first heard about the Amico from the 2021 E3 showcase. I thought "well, that's something" and forgot about it. I got to know about the kind of person Tommy Tallarico is a bit more from hbomberguy's video and went "oh, that's the Amico guy" and once again forgot about the Amico. Insane to see how huge of a disaster this really was
Those interviews are genuinely hard to watch. It's like being stuck with your worst uncle at a family function, who keeps bringing up his political opinions and getting offended when someone disagrees with him
It’s taken me two days to finish watching this behemoth of a documentary and all I can is, great job. As someone who has been causally following the Amico trainwreck by proxy since day 1 because I just so happen to follow some of the content creators involved in both sides, this is the most digestible and comprehensive video on the whole thing.
@@slopesgameroom Yes people are watching this. The whole thing. It's really good and what I was hoping for from you. It took me the better part of an evening to get through it the first time but I've watched it in total a second time since then. This is truly a masterpiece.
@@slopesgameroom I've been doing the same thing, watching it in chunks during meals, or a bit before bed, or during breaks at work. It's a testiment to your editing that it *can* be digested in smaller chunks, despite its lengfth.
If I had the opportunity and the foresight, I would have said to Tommy "Gee Tommy, I'm really looking forward to the Amico, and so is my girlfriend. Her favourite game is "Yvonne and the Android"" and see if Tommy would've promised the Amico would have a title similar to Yvonne and the Android, without realizing that game doesn't exist. I'm inclined to think he probably would fall for it.
One of my favorite forum quotes in this video comes from the Worms creator, because it's one of the rare times in the Amico saga that a game dev spoke up to debunk Tommy's claim about "talking" to someone to make a new game, and did so in a snide manner, lol.
Narcissists are literally emotion vampires, it's a very useful life skill to be able to identify the red flags and immediately get the hell out of dodge when you encounter one in your life. It's sad how far someone like Tommy can get before they finally manage to completely burn all their bridges, though.
There's no indication anyone's working full-time on the console anymore. Quicksilver is a software company owned by Intellivision VP Bill Fisher, and 6 of the other people listed in the credits of the game WWE 2K23 are also still listed on LinkedIn as employees of Intellivision. Nick Richards was storing his junk cars and running his Rad Ride company out of the Amico office. And of course, Tommy is doing Video Games Live. They all took to these jobs as backup plans.
@@infindebula I'm actually surprised to see it fail where it did. I thought the system was going to be completely ignored by developers and become a a shovelware magnet... It didn't occurred to me that they would fail on the console design and run out of money before they could manufacture units
@@infindebula The sad thing is that a scam artist convinced so many people to waste their time and money on his scam. I'm confused why you think it's bad that people wanted a scam to fail.
@@infindebula But there was never going to be a product dude. It was a scam from the beginning. And even if they had cobbled together a final product to release, it would have been a dismal failure, never living up to what was promised and people would still have been disappointed, their money wasted. People being critical of the project wasn't what caused it to fail. It being a scam caused it to fail.
Did you hear they also didn’t credit him in Metroid Prime remastered! You know the game where his sounds influenced the entire game. And he kissed Miamoto on the mouth?
This whole drama reminds me of what happened when ex-kiss guitarist Vinny Vincent (Ankh Warrior) finally poked his head out of whatever hole he'd been hiding in for 35ish years. He made all sorts of huge promises about playing shows and finally releasing the album he's been "working on" since 1990 (story goes that he'd had it finished in 1989 but just couldn't stop fucking about with it and has thrown out everything to start from scratch at least 20 times), he even ran a kickstarter to fund a new album and did ticket pre-sales for two shows he "had planned" for 2018-19. What ended up happening is: the legendary unfinished album is still "being mastered", the shows got pushed back half a dozen times before being cancelled without notice (or refunds) and the kickstarter money is to this day unaccounted for as vinny has fucked back off into whatever hole he was hiding in.
Thing with Vinnie is that he's a very talented musician, however the guy just seem to be batshit insane, completely disfunctional, a pain in the ass to work with and there are a lot of infamous stories about him being a massive dick, so i'm legitimately surprised that there's still someone wanting to give him money, i hope he can get his shit together cause it was really nice to see him again, but i wouldn't give him any money.
If someone brings up an old/obscure title, he immediately says that they're "in talks" or "working on it". I do not believe for a second that that's true, as on a technicality he can say that as "in talks" could mean with anyone and "working on it" could be the planning stage that he JUST started after hearing interest in it. He never intended to actually get the license and release new versions of all of those games, he was just trying to get the interviewers personally invested through nostalgia/personal connections with a game.

So a raging narcissist?
Pitching a game console at a funeral is the most Tommy Tallarico thing ever.
*Life Celebration
"It was nothing like a funeral." Somehow, I don't buy this, either.
And sheer genius
To be very slightly fair to Tommy, Life Celebrations are a thing. They're meant to...well, celebrate the person's life, not mourn it.
Doesn't change the very...eccentric move of pitching a product at an event that's supposed to be used to give closure to the dead person's loved ones...
I bet he had a stand at said funeral selling merch
why tommy thinks people hate mobile games:
• they're "gaming racist"
why most people actually hate mobile games:
• shallow gameplay
• overload with microtransactions
• every other screen loads an ad
• loads of manipulative designs to push microtransactions that always degrade the enjoyment of the game (e.g. in game currencies, energy systems, grind/paywalls)
I mean, there are _some_
mobile games that are actually good, but I can’t exactly blame most gamers for not being willing to wade through all the other ones just to find the rare gem, especially since even most of the gems still aren’t exactly gonna blow you away.

I still don't really get why most of what was "unique" about this thing couldn't have been managed with two phones that everyone already has.

Imagine if Steve Jobs was walking down the street and over heard someone say the iPad sucked; so he said "You're wrong, and here's why. Let's get on my private jet and I will change your mind on the iPad"

Thrilled you hired the same guy who was on the CU Podcast to do Tommy Talarico impressions. I've missed that guy ever since the segment ended. That dude had me rolling at work multiple times. Top shelf comedy and the only silver lining to come out of this whole farce.
You and me both!
I stopped watching pattianius punk a long time ago, didn't like He is attitude, didn't like how he was Is treating other people. But this voice over dude is hilarious
Pat did upload a couple of videos with all of voicemail recordings. It's hilarious to hear those again I still laugh at amiico mafia bit lol
That guy's the best TT!!
Also, this movie makes a great double-feature with the Barbie movie.
ahhh, barbentillivisionamico. I think you're right.
I'm sorry but a Life Celebration/Earthly Departure/Soul Exodus Festival/Spiritual Going Away Party is not the time to make your SharkTank elevator pitch. Like imagine your love ones mourning your passing ppl crying your partner and kids wondering how they're going to go on without you and then some dude pops up like
"Hey so I got an idea that'll make millions!!!" That's like trying to sell someone a timeshare when they just found out they have cancer
Sounds completely fair that the "haters" were jumping on other UA-camrs etc and calling them out. They were promoting a scam and should be called out on it.
Lets add DJ Slope's Amico video to the long *long* list of things that came out before the Amico.
Ffff... that means a third running list on top of the Amico Games List and the Broken Promises List...
Oof . Mp3 indeed
Put Half Life 3 on that list as well.
@@JustinJTime Yes. I am confident Gabe Newell will learn to count to three, before the Amico ever sees the light of day.

Every single Amico purchaser: Look what I bought, son! Now we can play these great old Intellivision games TOGETHER, just like me and your grandpa did!
Kid, 45 minutes later: ... Can I go play Fortnight now?...
So much respect on making a 4 hours long video! I hope nobody (besides The Atari Creep I guess, where at least it is understandable) believes in Tommy Tallarico's (or Tommy Scamarico) "Scamico" anymore:
Also thank you for crediting my videos! I really appreciate that.
More than welcome dude you popped a lot in my research... Big INTV fan right here guys :) hope this hasn't tarnished the old school name
Holy smokes Daniel. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to pay attention to something for four straight hours in quite awhile.
This was entertaining, captivating, informative, and never boring.

I like how this documentary is longer then lord of the rings
But no more longer than Snyder's Cut
Wait... Let me get this straight. Tommy actually said that they made it look like a foot massager on purpose becouse old people buy lots of them?🤣
Even if he did think that old folks were his target, it's still not even correct. Old people don't buy massagers, they get them as gifts for Christmas from family, then put them in a closet and never use them lol.
@@barrag3463 This is hilarious! My wife bought a foot massager/water spa thing for her father in law like 4 years ago and I don't know that he's ever used it. 😆
@@barrag3463 My grandma had one she used when I was little but not after that. I don't even remember when.
It does look like a foot bath. when i heard that i laughed. Its hilariously on point.
He did say he was trying to get the console to sell on Bed Bath & Beyond because the big companies don't do that!
Wait what did Slopes do wrong?
@@ccricers My mistake. Pat & Ian are visionary heroes.
First Hbomb's video and now this? I can't see how anyone could possibly be in Tommy's corner at this point, the man has been so thoroughly humiliated, I wouldn't be surprised if he simply eliminates any sort of public or internet presence going forward.
I wish. Chef Pi shows that no matter how much your reputation is in tatters. You can still get a walmart deal and profit off of immoral behavior.
I bet he doubles-down and sues everyone that talks about him, Billy Mitchell-style
I love how Hbomberman's vid became an expose on the Guinness world record scam. He also didn't even mention the dang system .
He's back to doing Video Games Live with a show in Chile. Although he didn't mention it on his Twitter account.
You confuse Hbomberguy with someone relevant.
I bet Tommy Tallarico produced the audio for this. He's always been so good with audio effects specifically!

The Amico could have been something, and I think that's the greatest tragedy of this situation. Really, any situation like this.
Yeah, I was looking forward to it
Could it though? I mean, Tommy never answered those initial skeptical videos' big question: Who is the target audience for this? Who are they looking to sell to? It seems like just a novelty, or a super-niche thing for people who have intense nostalgia for the Intellivision. And that just seems like far too small an audience for it to have possibly been successful. Weirdly, I think it would have been _better_ if it had begun as a kickstarter, just, "We're making this thing and we know this is how much it'll cost per unit, it'll have these licensed old games on it, and these pledges let us know how many people actually want this so we make as many as there's demand for."
Of course that would require them to have known how to design a console and like, manage projects but still!
@@BAMFshee Exactly. The only way it makes any sense is if it as a scam.
"I already watched that long ass hbomberguy video about Tommy, I'm not gonna watch an even longer one on the Amico!"

Tommy really puts the FUN back in "funeral".
Putting the 'celeb' in 'life celebration'

"That would be something, wouldn't it?? :) Yes we will have Yvonne on launch but the android will come later."
One of my favorite forum quotes in this video comes from the Worms creator, because it's one of the rare times in the Amico saga that a game dev spoke up to debunk Tommy's claim about "talking" to someone to make a new game, and did so in a snide manner, lol.
I heard that they were in talks to bring YatA to the Amico, hope they do, it was great back in the day, but needs an update.
Personally, I really want YIIK. It actually exists, but would be so strangely ironic and yet fitting to have on the Amico.
Yvonne and the Android is the most underrated PS1 game in my opinion
Narcissists are literally emotion vampires, it's a very useful life skill to be able to identify the red flags and immediately get the hell out of dodge when you encounter one in your life. It's sad how far someone like Tommy can get before they finally manage to completely burn all their bridges, though.
Figuratively. But yes, agreed.
@@bluedistortions The word "literally" being used for emphasis has been a thing for hundreds of years, don't be a knob.

The sad thing is that many other people wanted to see it fail.
@@Shenaldrac well if they succeeded in launching their product, it wouldn’t be a scam, would it?
Damn, that brings me back.
Vinny got screwed by Gene and Paul.
@@Clay3613
Vinny screwed himself by being a dishonest piece of shit.
@@Clay3613 what does that have to do with Vinny screwing his fans over???
