Great answer video! Whooda thunk #2 was for the ice bucket at home. Who wants a highball? Chip chip chip. Very honored about something else here. Thank you, it means much to me.
Lyle - Keep making these, very entertaining and even when I recognize all the specimens I always learn something about them. Merry Christmas to you and your bride.
That hole gauge kit is fancy enough to display under glass as pure mechanical art. I think is it one of those rare tools that transcends its function, and brings an aesthetic beauty to the job.
With the Diatest you can get a stand that helps with repetitive gauge work. What I like about the Diatest is the fact you can check for roundness and parallelism. If you have a tolerance on a hole you can set the 2 black sliding marks so at a glance you can see if the hole is within tolerance. Comes in handy when measuring a number of articles.
Congratulations on 100 episodes in the series know you were considering knocking it on the head at one point appreciate you carrying it on and enjoy the effort you put in
Wow - 100% on the pop quiz - my answer for #4 was a swag -- I asked myself what the most produced engine block is and I'm pretty sure I heard Dave Frieburger whispering Chevy Small block.
I guess the only thing stopping you from using that ice pick for a punch, would be if the tip is hard enough for it. I thought it was for that purpose too.
The town got started after the French departed in the 1760s. Later it was abandoned and a Spanish trader reestablished it in 1779. Incorporated as a town in 1837 and incorporated as a city in 1929. Population is about 32,000.
"'Old Joe Kennedy's tool box''--you kill me,mister. A guy who lives near the shipyard around here has a connecting rod from a ship to hold up his mailbox. Its so big the big end is sunk in concrete in the ground.I feel sorry for anyone who accidentally backs their car into his mailbox.
I must be an unpatriotic American as I have never owned a small block Chevy. I used to borrow my dad’s 83 Chevy Caprice wagon with its 305 V8. My own Chevy has a straight 6 from 1934, but my daily drivers have been Fords with either 4 or 6 cylinder engines except for an E250 van with a 5.4 liter V8
Really really doubt that it's an Ice Pick except for someone with poor aim needing to pre-position the point and so weak that they needed the slide-hammer assist, also the metal handle would be impractical in the cold. NEVER woulda thought it was a center punch with that loong taper, a prick punch is as much taper as you'd want for metal! The 2 large holes under the head are way more then it would need to let air escape and it's way larger then need be for any leather work, so I'm left clueless but am certain it isn't for chipping ice. Thanks for all!
Gah... if there is one person on earth whom I would have trusted to disable those obnoxious AI generated auto-dubs, it'd be you. Now you sound like a woke college student, plus you use weird, nonsensical wordings. Isn't AI just awesome. Well at least you didn't get it as bad as the lady over at Blondihacks, she is a 30 year old man now.
@@mrpete222 he's talking about a woman who does hobby machinist videos on the Tube.Lets just say it would be a real surprise if she got married to a man.
I'm talking about this new "feature" that was added to youtube and enabled by default (you can turn it off in upload options inside yt-studio). For people with non-english system locale, your narration will be computer-translated with some aaaaawesome AI. Also, you get a new AI-generated voice for free. Translation quality is, well... remember those japanese user manuals back in the 1980s? Not quite as bad, but you get the idea. Also, your voice is now no longer a grown man's voice as one would expect, but ressembles one of those green-woke college kids who pronounce every word pedantically to show their intellectual supremacy, and who will teach you the benefits of eating vegan and having a self-driving electric car.
We love to see these videos Mr. Pete. Thank you for your work.
Good morning Lyle,
Congratulations on 100.
I look forward to seeing 101 and more.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I've never seen a complete diatest set including the wrench. That's a beautiful gauge set that you have....would you consider parting with it? : )
Congratulations Mr Pete on your 100th "What is it?" They have all been interesting. Looking forward to the next 100!

I always enjoy your WHAT IS IT? videos. Thanks
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video mr Pete !!
Thanks Mr. Pete! Lobotomy, LOL! Thanks for sharing. 😃
Ice splits along perfect planes. An expert ice man in the old days could pick you out a $.25 piece of ice in ten seconds.

Totally agree. I was awe struck when I saw them at the flea market.
I correctly scored 1 of 4, I will have to continue my Mr Pete course of enlightenment .

Yes, the aliens in the droneS

Greetings Mr. Pete from the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches. Another informative video.
I wonder how many viewers besides me would like to know what year the oldest town in Texas was established?
The town got started after the French departed in the 1760s. Later it was abandoned and a Spanish trader reestablished it in 1779. Incorporated as a town in 1837 and incorporated as a city in 1929. Population is about 32,000.
@@user-oi8tg3dq7t Thanks. I'm sure a lot of history buffs besides me will appreciate that information.
Great video Mr pete 👍
Gauge pins never tell you as much as a bore gauge.
But the downfall is you need either ring gauges or gauge blocks to set up the bore gauge.
Nice Ice Pick. Enjoyed.
Thanks Mr. Pete for the video.
I always use gauge pins for holes under .500 the small hole guages were unreliable
Only thing is with gauge pins they don't tell you if the hole is round or parallel.
Great bunch of tools. Thanks.
🖐Good Morning Mr. Pete! I see 1st period shop is early again as usual.
It’s a dia test bore gage😊
Good morning, Lyle
Hope you and your family have a great holiday.
Merry Christmas
Hey Mr Pete the ice pick was a good one LOL
Thank you Mr Pete
Thanks for the video

Hello mr Pete,
When do you call a tool a tool and when does it become an instrument?
That is a very nice whole size set
Great video!
How would those tiniest probes even be made? Amazing
That’s exactly what I was thinking
I thought dashpots were for turning air pressure into linear motion, because that is what every one I have worked with was used for...
I didn't get the engine block, I'm English and we don't see any of those around here!
Took me a minute to realize that you probably mean *Chevy* engine blocks specifically ….
Good morning, Lyle
Thanks.
