£70 on Amazon today, now the very happy owner of 2 x Motion Boom at £10 less than the 1 JBL Charge 5 I was going to buy. Also kids are happy as they get one each for their rooms and they'll party together when we get out into the garden. Thanks again for the great advice.
Although some really bad things happened, i still watch your review, you give positive vibes and i wanna say thank you again for the review and afford alan!❤️😁
@@alanrossreviews you are a good man Alan. I like what you said to that guy that things were not going well for him.. keep doing your reviews I love them.. I'm in love with my motion booms. Two of them I watch movies with its awesome
Agree with you Alan. I started with one Motion Boom and liked it so much I ordered a second. Playing 1 Motion Boom is like using headphones with one side off your ear. Two Motion Booms is like listening with both sides of the headphones over your ears. There is sooo much difference! Its a much fuller sound that fills the room and with great stereo separation. BTW I like the way the Studio 7 sounds. It seems to have a crisper sound than the Onyx 6 or the Motion Boom but still has the low base. But the superior sound of the Studio 7 is easily beat by the room filling fuller sound of 2 Motion Booms.
I bought mine months ago and bought a second 4 hours after receiving the first. Cause I knew if one sounds that nice 2 in stereo has to be amazing and it definitely is.
Hi Alan! I bought most of the speakers you reviewed. Motion +, motion boom, studio 6, etc. Just ordered minirigs (2.1) l. Now I'm broke 😜 thanks for the hard work! We love your energy
I'd still give this round to the Motion Boom, Its still a surprise to me that it even lets us hear deep bass at all. The number of portable speakers that give deep bass I could count on one hand.
First off, A big Thank You for all the time and effort you put into these reviews, I really appreciate it. Your reviews are a big reason I bought the Boom and I'm beyond happy. I do have a question though. I received my Motion Boom on Thursday (it was a bargain at $79.99 US - Amazon had a $10 off coupon). After just a couple of days of listening I starting thinking if 1 sounds this good, I wonder how great 2 would sound paired in stereo. Right on Que your review of 2 Booms paired in stereo comes out. Now the question I mentioned. How do you sync the volume on the 2 when paired in stereo? Does the slave automatically set itself to the volume of the master? Again, thanks for all your hard work. PS Here's a ink to the Select Pro that seems like it may be a Best Buy release. Since it's the only place I see it in the USA so far. It looks to be a Motion Boom with LED's but the battery life is listed at 16 house instead of 24 for the Boom. I was hoping for an upgraded Boom with Tweeters. Since I can't find a lot of info I'm wondering if there are differences other than the LED's because 8 hours difference in battery life seems like a huge hit for some LED's. www.bestbuy.com/site/anker-soundcore-select-pro-bluetooth-speaker-black/6457699.p?skuId=6457699
Thanks Alan 😎for advising me to get Motion Boom ... I just received it and I really do like the handle too ! One day I will get second one... just waiting for a good deal.... Thanks for the video ✝️
I just picked up the motion boom I gotta say am impressed with the sound quality. The bass is like a mini woofer. My jbl will be now collecting dust!! 🤪😝
Great video. I bought the Motion Boom because of you for a friend. It's amazing. I'm even considering selling my Harman Kardon Go Play and buying one instead, since I feel like my Harman Kardan Go Play can sound a bit harsh sometimes, and I don't feel like the Motion Boom does that when at my friends house.
Hi Alan, thank you for the awesome review again! Thanks to your channel I bought my motion boom, and I am so shocked by it because I never knew I can get a decent party/training boom box at this price! Guys I gotta say you need to get one motion boom, and you’ll deeply fall in love with it! Ps. I own a pair of Flip5 but I love boom more.
@@alanrossreviews without comparison, I will never know how bad/mediocre JBL is in their recent models - I was planning to order Xtreme 3 already - thankfully I watched your vid before I decided which speaker I'll go for lol. Much appreciated !!!
hi Alan, thank you for helping me to make my choice. i've bought 3 of these soudcore motion boom... Sound, bass, everything amazing! heavy metal sounds perfectly! thanks for all your reviews.
Just came across this old vid while searching for what a pair of Booms can do Nice one Alan as always! I'm at a lil crossroads between buying another Boom as i own one already to enjoy it in TWS or buying one Tribit Stormbox Blast, my question now is if 2 Motion Booms are anywhere near one Stormbox Blast, i know they are not on same class but are they any close to it in terms of that deep bass, loudness, warm signature, full sounding...Or should i just go for the Blast instead as my budget can only get me one between the two for now
if you already have one boom a second one is a no brainer. the level of immersion is way better than a single blast but the blast will kick am deeper so it really comes down to your priorities. so if you ask are two booms anywhere near one blast then yes they are.
@@alanrossreviewsHello Alan, happy new year to you! Based on your professional opinion, i just purchased another Motion Boom(used) firmware 00.43, they are everything you said they are, i love the more prominent instrument seperation, the immersion, more loudness especially when you turn up the volume... However i observed something while testing the speakers differently, the 1st one is on firmware 00.44 while the 2nd one is on 0.43, one of your smooth EQ(+4 +2 +1 0 +1 0 +4 +5 +3) sounds balanced, smooth & nice on the 00.43 up till around 75 - 80%, anything above that incurs a little distortion, while on 00.44, same EQ sounds even more full at low volume & sounds more smooth & balanced up to 65%, anything above that incurs distortion My guess is there may be difference in sound between firmware 00.43 & 00.44 While i use the 00.44 as the primary & 00.43 as the secondary, if i increase the volume pass 60%, the left channel(00.44) starts to harsh up in sound just a little while the secondary(00.43) still remains ok, i decided to turn down the first 3 & last three sliders down just a bit, its kinda ok & manageable now My curiosity now is why does it have to be like that with two different firmwares playing in stereo even though the speaker plays only with the primary EQ on both when connected in TWS PS: i tried updating the 00.43 to 00.44 but was told it was up to date!
i have a really old car and the speakers are traash so i was researching good bluetooth speakers as a remedy. i previously had a jbl charge 3 and was really happy with it and hated the anker soundcore so was really apprehensive, but this guy really convinced me to give the motion boom a try. i yolo purchased 2, set it up in my car, adjusted the eq to his settings, and proceeded to have the best audio experience of my life. definitely in the top 3 purchases of my life. THANK YOU.
We got both Motion Boom speakers to pair in TWS mode (solid white light) but now we can't get our mobile device to connect to the "master" speaker to start playing music. Any tips? The master has a blinking blue light as if it's searching for a connection. We've reset each speaker and turned on/off bluetooth settings on the phone but no luck!
Dear Alan, thank you for your videos concerning the Soundcore Motion Boom (and the others of course). I'm watching them over and over again to find out if it's something for me to listen to at low to medium level volume in stereo mode while sitting in the garden and not irritating my neighbors. Now I'm using my old stereo receiver with two KEF Q55 but I want a quicker setup and I don't know if it's worthwhile buying a pair of Soundcore Motion Booms instead. Can you give me a quick advice and what would you do?
Hi Alan, are you going to do a 'Motion Boom best EQ settings' video? I think a lot of us would really appreciate it. Thank you so much for you delicate content! All the very best!
Im not sure there is a best eq. Even now i am tinkering eq depending on room, distance and tracks. For me this is because the boom is great value but with enough quirks in the sound it is never spot on. Also dispersion is not great so on axis tuning isnt great off axis.
@@alanrossreviews Thank you so much for your reply! That makes a lot of sense. If you can be bothered, you could make that a subject - like how you use different kind of EQs depending on the situation. But I understand if this is non of your interest. Thank you Alan!
Yes, bought into the hype😆, liked it so much, waiting on my 2nd Boom 💥...Been waiting for this video, and very pleased!! Did a speaker show down with my MINIRIG 2.2 set up, and HK 5’s, IMO MINIRIGS 3’s still the king, but can’t deny the Soundcore Booms in hanging close, and the fact that the Boom is Bluetooth 5.0 (doesn’t cut out when the microwave is on) and easy set up. MINIRIGS are a workout getting paired and hooked up! Thanks for the review Alan!
yes this is the problem with the minirig setup, great once you are going but its actually hard work getting set up, and when they all need charging again, holy shit!
@@alanrossreviews I’m a Dj, going on vacation to Huntington Beach California...2 Soundcore Booms, or The MINIRIG 2.2 system ? 🤔 (don’t want the sound to get lost with the pounding waves)

Any clue where I can get the EQ? I have been hearing people talking about that, not sure which video has it. Just got a pair of motion boom for outdoor parties, honestly it beats the Sonos Move
Awesome review my friend. I own two motion booms they are unbelievable. I just ordered tribit storm box Pro- two of them in Stereo. on sale for 71.95 40% off. Normally 120.00 . Get two of them so we can compare them to the motion booms. The storm box Pro is actually 40 watts. And 360° speaker. It's supposed to sound awesome. I'm excited to hear the difference. I know you don't like the 360° speakers but I actually like that form factor better where you can put it in the middle of the room and everybody hears it the same. Again Alan I love spending your money so get two storm box Pros so we can hear the comparison. LOL Ray usa
@@alanrossreviews hi Alan, I forgot to respond to this. I got those storm boxes and sent them back they didn't sound nearly as good as the motion booms
Hey Alan - thanks for the great review. Because of your review I did buy a Soundcore Motion Boom speaker and love it. But I recently bought a projector and screen for outdoor movie nights. What speaker(s) would you recommend for this?
@@alanrossreviews The projector does have an audio in (BenQ Tk700sti) but I don't have an Amp so it does need to be a powered speaker or a Bluetooth speaker. My budget would be around $200.
By the way alan... Spent the weekend checking out you streams since i could not watch them live at the time.... it was a lot of fun. :D I also have the sennheiser hd650 but to be honest i prefer and regret having traded the 650 for the hd600s i had. For mixing and editing wouldnt you prefer the hd600s since they are more neutral? I think the hd650 (hd6xx) is too warm and less sparkly in the highs but i know many like them because of being that way. Mine are not the sonarworks edition though.
thats the thing, they are calibrated by sonarworks and according to them the hd650s need less eq than the 600. i also prefer the wider soundstage of the 650, i believe the 600 is much closer to the ears in terms of speaker placement. i had some 600s years back and also at that time it lacked high end. with a flat eq (not really flat, its a slant on the harman curve) the 650s give me a good sense of how my original recordings were placed. not like binaural of course but decent enough for a stereo recording. i just saw you said the 600s were more sparkly, maybe the tuning has changed since i tried them. mine lacked sparkle but of course so many variables when it comes to how a headphone sounds to each person.
Hey Alan, Have you heard of the Sonos Roam, it’s going around the internet as if it’s the next big thing? Wondering if you can review it when it comes out! All the best
Hi Allan, first, thanks for all your work on these sound testings. Can i ask you a question? If the motion boom and the onyx 7 cost the same $, wich one would you pick? Cheers mate!
Omg they are so different in every way it depends on your main priorities. I would go motion boom simply because it has a proper battery and is a proper portable speaker
Hello, i see you from spain, and i recently bought a motion boom for my car, cause my car is old and i couldnt connect my phone. Im so happy whit it, but right now im thinking about buy another motion boom to listem them in stereo. Would you recommend that for the car? They would be under the sits of driver and the passenger. Thanls you very much. And have a nice day. Gorka.
Hello Alan, i boug(t this weekend a Motion Boom and its impressive for the price (79 euros at amazon with cupon) i would like to know where i can find your latest EQ setting for firmware 39.
Thanks for another great review! 👍👍 I currently have one Motion Boom & am eager to purchase a second! Just wondering if you can link two of them for synced "mono" (to cover multiple spaces) or only as L/R stereo...?
Awesome review man! Two Motion Booms is my go to setup at the moment, and really can't be touched, considering it's price and portability. I use your same settings and love them, but I have a question. I have a Moto G Power phone, and it has something called Moto Audio, which has different settings (such as music, movie, smart audio). Do you use anything like this on your phone when connecting to your speakers? The music setting seems to slightly lower the overall volume on most speakers, but increases the low bass.
not sure how that one works but sounds like its doing the trick of reducing the non bass frequencies to make the bass sound bigger. i dont use any 3rd party eq these days, not even the phones native eq, im trying to keep things as standardised as possible.
@@alanrossreviews the one I'm talking about is my actual phones EQ setting. What I mean by that is that I actually pull the bar down from the top, and it's the icon directly beside the Bluetooth on and off button
Very true. I loved my MotionPlus but sold them to a neighbor and bought the motion booms which are way better in my opinion. For $80 there is no speaker that comes close to it. Ray
What’s the range for the motion boom in tws mode? Cause I have issues with my w-king d10’s and xsound mega’s. I get a lot of connectivity issues when using them in tws
Awesome review, got myself two motion+, maybe when they sell them directly on my country will get me some of the bad boys, keep up the great content mate
@@alanrossreviews Thats why im giving my pluses a more stay at home and enjoy music while the booms will be the " let´s get loud fran from home", thanks for the clarification in yuor videos and on this comment
Hey Alan, hope you are doing well. Could you please share your latest EQ settings for Soundcore Motion Boom? I tried to find on your IG page but can't figure out which one's the latest. Thanks in advance!
@@alanrossreviews So is it ok to mix Motion+ with Boom? I have one Motion+ right now and I am thinking to get second for stereo Boom or other Motion+? Boom would give me that little bass boost, but is it good idea?
If that Onyx 6 is rated at 50 watts when on mains and the adapter only provides 38 watts, it sounds like that little battery is there more as a buffer to handle peaks like bass hits when operating at full 50 watts.
@@alanrossreviews Yeah you would think and I am no electrical engineer but wouldn't that take quite a cap to cover one of those thumpers playing at 100% volume? It may have been cheaper for them to throw a small LiPo cell in there and hey, now you can call it wireless! lol. I know, I am just guessing and nit-picking.
Hellow thanks for the videos you keep uploading you’ve made order the motin boom still waiting for it to come, there si new Bluetooth speaker very similar its like copied design to motion boom called MIFA WILDBOX if you dont care can you compare with it please
Thanks for your review. I'd been searching bluetooth speaker for 2 year, i don't want jbl because of the price that not stereo but mono. Last week i'd bought one motion boom. And this week i bought another one. And by the way sir,if you pairing the motion boom with Samsung phone with dolby atmos turn on the sound is nicer. Thank you again
Hey Alan Now that we know that 2 onyx 6s can play in stereo how would that compare to 2 motion booms in stereo in your opinion. I'm in Denmark and the studio 6 is selling for £100 each. At this price point I'm very tempted to go for the HK as I have more of a rookie ear at this point so am still a low bass kind of guy

a speaker is called a transducer. the accual speaker in the speaker in the device. it has a thing called free air resonance. the acual lowest tone of the paper or plastic will go. speakers are a amazing device. somebody correct me if im wrong?
to be totally accurate a speaker is a transducer but many objects can be transducers. i much prefer to call them drivers. you could say you drive a car but it would more specific to say you drive a ford pickup.
oh man this keeps coming up. db measured how? standard would be 1khz tone at 1m but i doubt you mean that. two motion booms loud enough to get you in a fight with the neighbors 😝
@@alanrossreviews for some reason some brands measure the volume output (loudness) in dB, some in watts. I've tried converting it online but the numbers don't really make sense. It's kinda confusing. Thanks for the reply though :)
are you sure you are not looking at the sensitivity? how loud it goes when they just spout a dB is pure marketing. There is no standard for this. I mean is it peak they measuring or max? are they measuring a single tone or pink noise? is this at 1m?
If you gonna use a stereo portable speaker for outdoor for the beach/swimming pool and also plays nicely indoor, what would you choose personally, thanks
Just received the D8 and the motion booms this Monday but to be honest i barely tried them since i am testing them at night and not going past 40% volume. First thoughts, i do admit that the boom has better sound dispersion, has more deep bass and seems clearer but i am actually quite surprised by the d8. At first when i was testing them both (by the way i am using your instagram settings Alan, despite actually having quite liked the bass up onlymode with from the start) my first impressions were that the d8 was indeed less clear and muddy but therer are certain tracks were the upper kick of the d8 is quite enjoyable and also were the sound is meatier like on some nu-metal tracks like Papa Roaches's "Between Angels and Insects" or Bring Me the Horizon's "Mantra". On some tracks like these it is actually quite noticeable that the soundcore sounds a bit thinner and makes the tracks feel less energetic. But for example, next i switched to some trance and i started playing Andy Blueman's Remix of "Circles" by Robert Nickson and i was hopping this track to sound meatier on the D8 due to the more impactfull bass but it was actually the other way around and the airiness of the booms made it sound even better. It is all very sudden for now to draw any type of conclusion because my time with them was very limited and restricted in terms of volume but i have to admit, yeah the soundcore may be a better speaker overall and may be more suited to the audiophile oriented hear but maybe because all my speakers are quite different (minirigs 3, motion plus, Harman kardon go play) in terms of tunning thats why it has been refreshing to try the d8 so far. It has a different type of bass from all my other speakers and that impact and meatiness makes some tracks quite interesting and headbanging. Even vocals are not very shabby on the d8... stone me but i think they even sound fuller..... Adele sounds quite good.... Till from Rammstein feels more freightning... :D But let me give them a little more time and try at higher volumes. I also have the feeling that overall anker speaker sound a little bit thinner than the rest. I always fellt this when i was A-B-ing between the minirig 3 and the go play when i got the motion+'s. They just sound thinner and more treble happy (or other speaker are maybe too warm i dunno.... :D ). One thing is annoying me though on the d8, when switching back to the w-king i have to pause and select the speaker and than press play again because if i switch directly to the d8 i get a stupid sound spike at first (not even half a second) like going first to 70%/80% volume and than comesback to the volume it is supposed to be. Its quite annoying actually. But i only used them with my Oneplus 7Pro so let's see if the same happens with other devices.... Design wise i prefer the soundcore but despite looking like a toy the d8 is heavy as f..... the smell when openning the box of the d8 was like a glue factory exploded on my face. Good choice of plastic on both though. Its Sennheiser HD25 like plastic and it may be quite durable since the matte feeling may be less prone to scratching. Going to sleep now.... :D When i have a little more time to test them (and specially at higher volumes) will let you guys know. :)
you cant expect too much from these speakers i just think they are great value. over time you will find an eq on the boom that works for you. for my the boom is a little more hifi than the d8 but the boom is no way an audiophile speaker. its poor dispersion alone would put people off. but it can do great things when tuned for the axis you listen. tx for the detailed early review 👍
@@alanrossreviews i know Alan. :) As i said above, these are very early impressions and dont be surprised if my impressions take a 180° turn once i am able to try them fully and at higher volumes. Thank you for your reply and i will be back once i have a more complete opinion on them. :)
owww wow the slave is picking up the eq from the master ... so when they are playing on stereo if you change different eq presets on the app are they both playing the same preset as well as custom eq ...? Oh I want to know something between the soundcore flare 2 and the soundcore boost new ... which one has better bass as both are 20 watts ( not judging 360 or stereo ) my friend bought a flare 2 and I am curious to know because I have a 20 watt boost and his one flare 2 is also 20 watt ... what you think ...?
i have to have a listen again but the problem with my flare 2 is the bass is very wooly, way more so than the boost. yeah the booms seem to work fine in paired mode for any eq.
@@alanrossreviews Yeah maybe but bass up seems to mess up if you got that on then trying to increase the 80 hz again then the bass go crazy ... my boost can do that too if I overdose the bass but boost seems more capable and the warmer nature is pretty relaxing ... And soundcore keeps shining good luck ...
Have you reached out to Tribit to get their StormBox Pro? I have it and I have to say that I’m not that impressed. I have all of Tribit’s speakers and this is the first one that I’m slightly underwhelmed about. The volume is there, the bass is there, but it lacks clarity and balance. Some speakers require break in so I’m hoping that’s the case with the TSP 🙏🏾
Oh no. I just read what you said. I just ordered two storm box Pros hoping that they would sound incredible. So you really didn't like them? Also do you have the motion Booms to compare them too, because I do. I was hoping the storm box Pros would sound as good if not better than the motion booms because I like 360° speakers. Ray usa
I wouldn’t say I don’t like. It’s just that my expectations were slightly high. I was hoping for a sound signature similar to the MaxSound Plus, just with more volume and a smidge more bass. It doesn’t succeed on the signature or even come close. The StormBox Pro is far from a bad speaker though. I’m sure if you can EQ it could sound great, maybe I don’t have the Motion Boom as yet but I do have the Motion Plus and the Stormbox Pro doesn’t sound as good as that speaker. Btw, if you’re a bass head then you’ll love the StormBox Pro.
Hi Alan, thanks for all the great reviews, I appreciate it! Just a heads up to everyone who owns a Motion Boom. I noticed a new firmware update for my Motion Boom this morning - Version 00.33. I’m not sure what is new but since I like to live on the edge I installed it.
Thank you for your excellent work! 😁👍 I was wondering how two booms in TWS wold compare with other speakers. I recently got a second one myself and really like how the already remarkable sound is even further enhanced. I haven't tried cranking to full volume so far (midish level is usually enough for me) but now I know what level of loudness to expect if I need it and it definitely seems to be able to deliver.
You have to get your hands on the harman kardon go play. I doubt even 2 booms will beat it but i will clear my doubts on wedneday since i have 2 booms coming in a will be able to compare them to the motion+'s, minirigs 3 and of course the go play. For me the go play still remains the most impressive and the minirigs the more hifi and the ones i take with me even on my car but its indeed a shame harman kardon only uses small (and pretty shitty) batteries on their devices. Harman probably knows that many would skip the jbl's if they came with larger batteries. There is also a w king d8 coming on wednesday but to be honest i ordered that one from amazon by mistake since i was even more interested on the d9 (do you still think there are drastic unit variarions in terms of sound on the d9? I am interested but judging from the sound your vids and others its not that special despite being loud. Its prettier than the d8 though... Reminds of the teufel rockster...).... But screw it... Lets test it... :D
Let us know how it goes. I had 2 motion+ and I was going to replace them with 2 Booms but once I compared both of them individually, I wasn't impressed to replace them.
@@alanrossreviews i am tempted to order it but sincerely it is just for curiosity and comparison sake because the tuning does indeed not seem that great (although if it is true there are variations there can always be a surprise but i doubt it will be that drastic) and being the size it is, for me at least, it starts to become too big for portable. I can easily take 1 or 2 minirigs or soundcore motion + and a couple more things on my backpack and its enough to have fun while sounding good without being overly distractive. My hk go play on the other habd basically never leaves the house because of the size. Its a speaker i use while running on my treadmill or just to listen at home. To me these speakers that are perfect to gather crowds, dance classesbor stuff like that. Back to the w kings... I do prefer the design of the d9 though. The d8 looks like a cheap toy. At least its the black one that is coming wich looks a bit more decent.
Yep, I already told him about that, why did they make a Motion Boom in the first place if you release the exact same speaker with lights few months after ? I don't get it.
@@alanrossreviews Maybe I don't know, but it's the same resonance chamber, the same size drivers and passive radiators. Only the tuning could be different. They could tune it to be more upper bass heavy, since it's a "party speaker" ? But if it doesn't have the same sound then why does it look the same as Motion Boom ? IT'S SO WEIRD !!!
I was going to get the Onyx 7 but it has no USB type C charging! :( My sony srs-xb43 last for ever with my small external battery pack, Ive used it over 12 hrs straight one time at full volume
Alan, you've turned me into a complete soundcore fanboy 😂 It began with Motion plus (best fo indoor listen), continued with two Rave Neos (for big party), Mini3 for emengencies on the go (for portability) and thus far I've stopped on Boom for the outdoor punch 😂 Wonder what comes next
@@alanrossreviews I'm working for them by sending them my money 😂😂😂 It's a bit one sided thing. Now I'm a little worried about me leaving to fetch some groceries and returning with second boom, which is going to be a little hard to explain 😂😂😂
hello i know you can pair 2 motion booms together. But is it possible to use 2 other speakers with another phone and share a spotify session so you hear everything on 4 speakers? Or is there some delay or is there another solution to use 4 speakers?
You can with an app called soundseeder. You're able to get them in sync by adjusting a slider with 10 ms intervals that goes up to +-400 ms. You connect the phones through wi-fi. You can also do youtube and spotify, but it's somewhat complicated getting it setup. It's easier to play songs directly stored on your phone, but if you want to do youtube or spotify you need a streaming app that can stream music using the DLNA standard. I'm using bubbleupnp. I have an old jbl go speaker and I'm able to get it to work flawlessly with the motion boom this way. In theory you could connect 10 motions booms if you had 5 phones and 2 booms per phone.
The problem with HK is they make these great speakers but then match them with a shite battery. Release a 3rd gen Go+Play with a battery that can give you at least 10hrs @ 80% volume. Hell even just re-release the Go+Play 2 with a much bigger battery.
Man, can you find a way to make a video on the Xiaomi Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker 16W? Theres some material online, but nobody does reviews better than you.
There's a new speaker called Xdobo X8 plus, seems to be a potentially pound for pound champion contender, it would be awesome to see it in your chanel, I haven't found many videos of it! ✌️🔊
I'm on fw 0.39 now and suddenly I need both to turn on separately even when they are on tws connected. When one speaker was on older fw, I needed only the master to turn on to get both on power. Any idea what happened? Can you confirm what behavior is right? Because both turn off when I press it on the master speaker.
Still waiting for a better looking motion pro, with good sound of course, atleast I have enough time to save some💰😁 The Envaya and M+ is good enough for my Travel needs. 😊
@Alan Ross Reviews thanks! I discovered this in my research lol. I'm going to try using a Bluetooth transmitter and pair 2 motion booms. Found them for a great deal on Amazon almost 40% off each should be a fun experiment.

After watching many many hours of mind numbing reviews on speakers (probably 60% of my time is on your channel. Thank you!) I've narrowed it down to either 2 MOTION BOOMs - or - 2 RAVE MINIs. Im traveling with my girlfriend in a small Subaru Outback in the US this summer. Space is SUPER compact. I cant phisically fit anything larger than 2 the 2 rave minis. We love making our own river raves (water, rocks, sand, hippies etc.) and need a decent setup for travel. We have about $200 to spend on a system. MOST of the time we are outside when we listen but sometimes - watching Netflix in someones house and want something that sounds crisp. So im looking at getting something that can do both and still sound decent indoor / outdoor. Im a bass heavy electronic guy and I needs my boom boom. I havent seen any reviews on dual Rave minis VS dual Booms. In your opinion Allen, would you reccomend going with one over the other setup? At this point im probably going to buy all 4 on Amazon and return 2. Maybe even do my own review? But just wondering if you were in my position, which would you do? If you feel like doing another review im sure many people have the same questions! THANK YOU!!! (i know im super picky but I figured youre the uy to ask!)
i never tried pairing the rave minis as i only have one. now when you say rave mini you mean the one once called the trance with the fake tweeter right? its an upper bass heavy machine if thats your kinda bass then it will go loud but its not my kinda bass. i prefer the rave neo/trance go. you must be careful with the name cause soundcore have different names for the same speaker. The rave neo would be my pick but the pairing might be fiddly as i believe it does both party mode and tws. the difference is the booms go deeper and sound fuller but rave neos sound clearer which might be better outdoors. they need to be eqd to get the best out of them. i say neo would be my pick because of all your needs but its a close call. overall i prefer the sound of the boom. if you can get both pairs to try then thats the way to go. Party on! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
@@alanrossreviews - Perfect reply Allan! Thank you! I know ....... describing sound quality is like describing flavors or colors to someone. Its totally personal preference! Which is why I love your reviews more than most. YES - Im talking about the Trance Go and the Motion Boom to be clear about names. (Soundcore! arrrrgggg! Just choose another name like the "WTF BOOM BOOM" lol) Its such a close call I feel like getting all 4 speakers and doing my own tests in different enviroments would be the best aproach. I also hear you about conectivity issues. Latency problems with videos & audio is annoying and I really cant hang if the lips dont match the sound. PARTY ON ALLAN! Thanks again for the super fast reply. If you wanna DM me for the results id be happy to nerd out with you and tell you my results! :-)
@@alanrossreviews Hey Allan! I finally got both my BOOMS and my TRANCE GO speakers in the mail today and got a chance to hook everything up. This response is super loooooong but, for people like us I think it's worth the read. In short - the BOOMS for the win!! "Pound for Pound World Champion" slams again! The Trance Go DOES have more bass.... but not that much really. Honestly I hoped they had more bass for the size & I'm surprised it didn't. It's QUITE a bit heavier than the BOOM for sure. I think taking this out to the park or beach would be much easier with the BOOM. The mids and the highs are louder on the GO but they do sound pretty harsh on my ears. Even with a custom EQ setting. None of us could hang at max inside. Too shrill. My gf and my roommate also said the GO was annoying at high volume but the BOOM sounded really clean and not too ear stabbing at max volume. Both of these tests were using dual speakers. 2 Booms or 2 Go's. Inside both these sound good (favoring the booms) outside the GO's were louder and did have more kick. Mostly mid kick. Honestly I wouldn't say these are party proof for serious party wolves. They can get the job done but compared to my friends Onyx 4 they dont hold up. But I ruled the Onyx series out because of the poor battery, no IPX, and its massive in a backpack. The nice thing about the booms is that you can have 1 person put one in their backpack and someone takes the other to split the load. I do wish that the Boom had a removable handle for easy storage (not my favorite design) I LOVE the handle on the go. It's suuper nice. Oh yeah I got both to play using the TWS or the party cast OR dual audio using the bluetooth feature on my phone. All of them work great. I did have trouble with the directions with the Party Cast with the Go's because the directions SUCK. The UA-cam video says to do it one way but it doesn't work! The light doesnt turn blue and it doesnt tell you to double press the button after it blinks. The paper instructions don't tell you to double press either! I had to go to the webpage and read the instructions and do it that way. But it still wasn't correct either. They should really streamline their info. I talked with ANKER and they said you can fill out a forum on their site and a designated team will review all the comments and make changes if they see a need to. So I feel with picky people like us, we can do that and hopefully with the new "Mega Boom Rave mini Pro 3 Plus Neo Upgraded version 3.2" they should get it right. :/ There is a micro latency on (with all speakers) videos where you are watching someone's lips. But not too bad. After a while you get over it. I did some 3D spatial audio tests and the booms worked but not the GOs. IDK why? For other features it's about what you said. SPOT ON ALLAN! I really felt like your home tests at different volumes really gave me a feel for what I was getting in the mail. Oh yeah - and one other fun fact is that you can connect the Soundcore Liberty Pro 3 (maybe 2 also?) to the same track that is playing on the speakers! So right now my gf is in the kitchen listening to the same mix as me in the office. Thats handy! Hope this review helps you and others also! Party on!!

Top review mate.
But the superior sound of the Studio 7 is easily beat by the room filling fuller sound of 2 Motion Booms.
it is crisper, if thats your thing then its win win 😛 the sound is very narrow though.

Hi Alan! I bought most of the speakers you reviewed. Motion +, motion boom, studio 6, etc. Just ordered minirigs (2.1) l. Now I'm broke 😜 thanks for the hard work! We love your energy
thank for that, keeps me motivated! lets see what i can buy you next 🤭
I'd still give this round to the Motion Boom, Its still a surprise to me that it even lets us hear deep bass at all. The number of portable speakers that give deep bass I could count on one hand.
thats what the boom is all about, deep boom!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
thank you so much......motivation restored 👌
Since I can't find a lot of info I'm wondering if there are differences other than the LED's because 8 hours difference in battery life seems like a huge hit for some LED's.

hi Alan, thank you for helping me to make my choice. i've bought 3 of these soudcore motion boom... Sound, bass, everything amazing! heavy metal sounds perfectly! thanks for all your reviews.
Glad I could help!
Just came across this old vid while searching for what a pair of Booms can do
Nice one Alan as always!
@@alanrossreviews Thanks Alan!
I know exactly what i must do now
More power to you!
However i observed something while testing the speakers differently, the 1st one is on firmware 00.44 while the 2nd one is on 0.43, one of your smooth EQ(+4 +2 +1 0 +1 0 +4 +5 +3) sounds balanced, smooth & nice on the 00.43 up till around 75 - 80%, anything above that incurs a little distortion, while on 00.44, same EQ sounds even more full at low volume & sounds more smooth & balanced up to 65%, anything above that incurs distortion
My guess is there may be difference in sound between firmware 00.43 & 00.44
While i use the 00.44 as the primary & 00.43 as the secondary, if i increase the volume pass 60%, the left channel(00.44) starts to harsh up in sound just a little while the secondary(00.43) still remains ok, i decided to turn down the first 3 & last three sliders down just a bit, its kinda ok & manageable now
My curiosity now is why does it have to be like that with two different firmwares playing in stereo even though the speaker plays only with the primary EQ on both when connected in TWS
PS: i tried updating the 00.43 to 00.44 but was told it was up to date!
i have a really old car and the speakers are traash so i was researching good bluetooth speakers as a remedy. i previously had a jbl charge 3 and was really happy with it and hated the anker soundcore so was really apprehensive, but this guy really convinced me to give the motion boom a try. i yolo purchased 2, set it up in my car, adjusted the eq to his settings, and proceeded to have the best audio experience of my life. definitely in the top 3 purchases of my life. THANK YOU.
job done 👌
I like the way you phrased that, "I YOLO purchased 2".

Perhaps two motion pluses would be more suitable for low levels.

Hey Alan - thanks for the great review. Because of your review I did buy a Soundcore Motion Boom speaker and love it. But I recently bought a projector and screen for outdoor movie nights. What speaker(s) would you recommend for this?
Does it need to be wireless? Do you have a mains socket? I would always prefer a soundbar for this.
Please do rave neo partybox 2 video and eq

Awesome review man! Two Motion Booms is my go to setup at the moment, and really can't be touched, considering it's price and portability.
I use your same settings and love them, but I have a question. I have a Moto G Power phone, and it has something called Moto Audio, which has different settings (such as music, movie, smart audio). Do you use anything like this on your phone when connecting to your speakers? The music setting seems to slightly lower the overall volume on most speakers, but increases the low bass.
Personally I use the automatic Dolby Atmos setting on my Galaxy Note 8, it slightly increases the volume and give an ever so slightly wider soundstage
not sure how that one works but sounds like its doing the trick of reducing the non bass frequencies to make the bass sound bigger. i dont use any 3rd party eq these days, not even the phones native eq, im trying to keep things as standardised as possible.
@@alanrossreviews the one I'm talking about is my actual phones EQ setting. What I mean by that is that I actually pull the bar down from the top, and it's the icon directly beside the Bluetooth on and off button

Now that we know that 2 onyx 6s can play in stereo how would that compare to 2 motion booms in stereo in your opinion. I'm in Denmark and the studio 6 is selling for £100 each. At this price point I'm very tempted to go for the HK as I have more of a rookie ear at this point so am still a low bass kind of guy
it will be a huge deep bass experience with little balance, if thats your thing then it will be a bassfest!
@@alanrossreviews Ha Ha always been a bass head but after watching a lot of your videos today it's hard not to want to give the motion boom a go. Gonna order one tomorrow. Thanks so much . Keep it up , I'm a subscriber as of today and looking forward to many more upcoming vids from you!!!
👍 👍
Hi, What do you think between Motion Boom and Onyx 7 speaker ?
I would prefer the warmer sound of the onyx 6.its great fun but prefer the more all round portability of the boom.
a speaker is called a transducer. the accual speaker in the speaker in the device. it has a thing called free air resonance. the acual lowest tone of the paper or plastic will go. speakers are a amazing device. somebody correct me if im wrong?
to be totally accurate a speaker is a transducer but many objects can be transducers. i much prefer to call them drivers. you could say you drive a car but it would more specific to say you drive a ford pickup.
Howdy, what is the DB output of a single motion boom? How loud does it get?
oh man this keeps coming up. db measured how? standard would be 1khz tone at 1m but i doubt you mean that. two motion booms loud enough to get you in a fight with the neighbors 😝
@@alanrossreviews quite sure it's just marketing. Some aren't very transparent on what they are measuring, making it hard to compare.
@@alanrossreviews an example would be the UE Boom 3 - their website states "max soundlevel 90 dbC"
I just ordered 2 of these. Can you use both at the same time without stereo? Just mirror the audio from both.
nope just two in stereo but you can use dual audio in a supported device
Alan compared to 2 motion plus would you recommend these over the motion plus ?
Only for low volume listening
@@alanrossreviews mean???
If you gonna use a stereo portable speaker for outdoor for the beach/swimming pool and also plays nicely indoor, what would you choose personally, thanks
i would probably go with a pair of booms but not the greatest form factor as in bashable. no fabric coating.
@@alanrossreviews appreciated, you put tremendous efforts in such reviews, very honest & save people lots of money, you deserve the best.
But let me give them a little more time and try at higher volumes.
@@godspeedsr1471 yes the boost handles bass nicely most of the time. im really liking it.
I’m sure if you can EQ it could sound great, maybe
I don’t have the Motion Boom as yet but I do have the Motion Plus and the Stormbox Pro doesn’t sound as good as that speaker.
Btw, if you’re a bass head then you’ll love the StormBox Pro.
Also, I lucked out and was able to get the StormBox Pro for $70 by combining 2 coupon codes. So with that said I’m not that disappointed 😊
no tribit keep clear of me now 🤣
@@waynedexter amazing how calling something pro makes everyone want one 😋
does the TWS button have any effect or value if you only have one motion boom?
nope!
I just received my boom yesterday and it came with the latest firmware.. is that how they ship them out or did I received a used model from Amazon
I would have preferred to update it on my own and get the feel that it's new off the warehouse
newer models would have newer firmware.
@@alanrossreviews thanks Alan
Hi, What do you think between Motion Boom & Xtrem 3 ? Thank U for your feedback
motion boom makes way more sense, get two and still have money over
when i watch movies i use my studio 5 demn that low bass is necessary imo..😁 no other of my Bluetooth speaker can do that..
yup the onyx series has a niche!
Hi Alan, thanks for all the great reviews, I appreciate it! Just a heads up to everyone who owns a Motion Boom. I noticed a new firmware update for my Motion Boom this morning - Version 00.33. I’m not sure what is new but since I like to live on the edge I installed it.
Thanks for the info!
Thank you for your excellent work! 😁👍 I was wondering how two booms in TWS wold compare with other speakers. I recently got a second one myself and really like how the already remarkable sound is even further enhanced. I haven't tried cranking to full volume so far (midish level is usually enough for me) but now I know what level of loudness to expect if I need it and it definitely seems to be able to deliver.
its a party waiting to happen! 🤩🤩
I had 2 motion+ and I was going to replace them with 2 Booms but once I compared both of them individually, I wasn't impressed to replace them.
the whole problem with the d9 is their tuning, i really dont understand, it goes louder and cleaner than the d8 but with dumb tuning imho.
@@savvasneophytou5664 i will. :)
Anker has a soundcore select pro that is the motion boom but with lights. The name game is so bizarre.
Yep, I already told him about that, why did they make a Motion Boom in the first place if you release the exact same speaker with lights few months after ? I don't get it.
maybe it will sound different? or will be only for certain retailers like they do with their party speakers?
yup you told me 😝😝
@@alanrossreviews Maybe I don't know, but it's the same resonance chamber, the same size drivers and passive radiators. Only the tuning could be different. They could tune it to be more upper bass heavy, since it's a "party speaker" ? But if it doesn't have the same sound then why does it look the same as Motion Boom ? IT'S SO WEIRD !!!
@@ThibautMahringer but no different than the multiple names they give the party speakers and then sell at different prices depending on retailers.
What's the possible range between the two speakers like in tws? I plan on using a pair of speakers on a beach at two ends of a volleyball net.
Mmm enough but maybe sometimes can experience some cuts
The cost between 2 motion boom speakers and 1 jvl boombox2 is very similar. Which one would you pick?
I was going to get the Onyx 7 but it has no USB type C charging! :(
My sony srs-xb43 last for ever with my small external battery pack, Ive used it over 12 hrs straight one time at full volume
you might think its full volume but it isnt, it gradually reduces volume but so slowly that you dont realise.
are there delays in these speakers in tws or are they playing smoothly without delays?
They are in sync with each other but will lag on the device you are playing from
Alan, you've turned me into a complete soundcore fanboy 😂 It began with Motion plus (best fo indoor listen), continued with two Rave Neos (for big party), Mini3 for emengencies on the go (for portability) and thus far I've stopped on Boom for the outdoor punch 😂 Wonder what comes next
Maybe we both work for soundcore 😝😝😝 im hoping we keep finding one more winner or jbl ups their game, not looking likely though 🤣
@@alanrossreviews I'm working for them by sending them my money 😂😂😂 It's a bit one sided thing. Now I'm a little worried about me leaving to fetch some groceries and returning with second boom, which is going to be a little hard to explain 😂😂😂
hum, this is a tricky one.......probably after my next video you will have to make that trip anyway.....2 motion booms vs 2 motions pluses 😋🤑🤑
W king d9 is king
@@alanrossreviews You were right, Alan 😂 Teo of them is the way to go! 😂😎😇
which option will be better because I have a dilemma what will be generally better 2x anker boom or tribit stormbox blast?
two booms louder, more immersive, stormbox blast simply deeper bass.
Boom in stereo are better quality? Generally? And bas is significatly more power in blast?
yup, pretty much blast has deeper bass but two booms spread apart will be a different listening experience. but blast will always go deeper.
@@alanrossreviews thank you for response Alan;)
hello i know you can pair 2 motion booms together. But is it possible to use 2 other speakers with another phone and share a spotify session so you hear everything on 4 speakers? Or is there some delay or is there another solution to use 4 speakers?
Quite honestly, i have no idea 💡
@@alanrossreviews but my idea is good or not can you test it?
Hell even just re-release the Go+Play 2 with a much bigger battery.
its all very strange.

@Alan Ross Reviews thanks! I discovered this in my research lol. I'm going to try using a Bluetooth transmitter and pair 2 motion booms. Found them for a great deal on Amazon almost 40% off each should be a fun experiment.
Allan. Cant thank you enough for your amazing detiled hoest reviews. You really help me so much! But I have a big question for you!
Party on!!
