    Thanks William you saved me money and time in building mine. Yea it may take some effort in getting it in place but I think it is doable without the saw horse.
    My yak had to be a little narrower from scupper to scupper. I just took a little bit off maybe a quarter of an inch. I got a perfect fit though and glued most of it together. It fits perfect behind the seat an is low profile.

    May I suggest using schedule 80 pvc, thicker than the standard stuff, few bucks more, but I think it will end breaking issues.

    Next video: How to repair broken scupper holes...That's going to put too much strain in the scupper holes especially if you are going over rough terrain and with a loaded kayak.
    I want to see it in use and want an update now that 2 years have passes in Dec 2020.

    You can find the bushing in the bolts and nuts section of the store if not have one the store clerks find it for you

      Keep in mind the measurements are for the perception Pescador pilot 12 if you have a different kayak you might need to take a new measurement to cut the PVC pipes 2 actual size

      Haaa...Very few of the store clerks know anything...find an older clerk that runs the department.

    laying down in the water and lifting up the kayak to find the holes for the wheel unit seems a little not friendly or all that easy.

    So if a person didnt want the dolly so tall (looks like there is more than enuf room) , could I make the 11.5" lengths shorter...Would it still work out?
    Great vid, thanks for sharing.

      You should be able to cut the PVC pipe to the size that best fits your needs. I preferred to use the 11 inch for Rocky terrain and I have a 9 inch for flat Terrain.

    I keep hearing how the scupper holes are a potential spot for leaks. Is adding stress to these points a good idea?

    • @williammorales7924
      @williammorales7924  6 років тому +1

      Grizzled Old Dude theres always a possibility of wear and tear around the Scupper plug area that's why I chose the size PVC that I did it fits in their more snug there's no play in it. Therefore less possibility of wearing that area out.

      @@williammorales7924 It's not the hole that leaks...its where the hole meets the hull that cracks.. you might have used a 4 way cross to add support lengthwise with the yak to avoid straining the scuppers.

    Did u glue altogether or just leave it as is?

    ok made one and my wheels barely roll given the lock nuts and washers you suggested. I am assuming that I have tightened them too tight. any suggestions other than making them looser.

    • @gtrevino50
      @gtrevino50 5 років тому +3

      I wouldn't use the lock washers because as you found out, you can't fully tighten the nuts to flatten the lock washers without making the axle too tight. The wheels aren't under a lot of stress, so I think plain washers are fine. If the nuts loosen up you can just tighten a bit each use. I'm actually going to try a nylon lock nut on the outside and see if that does the job of keeping everything in place.

      Ditch the lock washers. Some blue locktite for the nuts should keep them on but still allow you to remove them later if needed.

      Use nylon nuts inside acorn nuts outside no lock washers it should work just fine.

    Got one of these and the pvc will break eventually. Also removing the wheel after it’s in the water is a pain. Best way is buy a $30 kayak wheel from amazon or eBay, don’t waste your time building this.

    Tell u what, try mounting your kayak to the dolly outside WITHOUT your saw horses. U neglected to let viewers know how difficult it really is by yourself

      Yea you are good to glue the vertical pvc as the threaded rod holds the bottom together.

    kayak carts and dolly's are $30-$35 on ebay, why mess with it!

    • @traviswhitworth6506
      @traviswhitworth6506 5 років тому

      I guess if you didn't want to put the dolly back in your vehicle while you are kayaking? This type of dolly will fit in the kayak well when you get it on the water.

      The carts online suck thats why. U have to strap them to kayak and they dont work that great. Believe me i bought two different ones.

      Actually it doesn't cost as much and it stores perfectly in the same holes on top of the yak. I did have to file the scupper holes a little and shorten the horizontal pieces and it fits like a glove 😁
