Stunning bank note
4:46 No, the Enigma code was already broken before the war. When Turing sat down to his work he knew how the code worked. His breakthrough was creating a machine that made breaking the codes from the improved enigma machines much more efficient.
And look how they repaid him.chemical castration.
@@lilskys6578 Good amount of our war heroes got shot through the back of the head or hanged after the war. In a collective memory we neither got credit for Enigma nor any rememberance for those treated so badly after the war. So Mr. Turing did better in that regard.
Not quite. Turing and his team at Bletchley park broke the naval enigma, which was revised from the original enigma that Polish code breakers cracked. The Naval Enigma signals used different ciphers, each with its own daily key (rotor order, ring settings, plugboard connections and ground setting). The principal cipher was Heimisch (Heimische Gewässer - known to Bletchley Park as Dolphin) for U-boats and surface ships in 'Home Waters', including the Atlantic. It was completely random, changing daily. What Alan Turing and his team had to do in less than 24 hours, Polish code breakers had months to achieve. Every day they had to start from scratch as the configurations were randomised. So, with all due respect, Alan Turing did far more than just “build a machine to make cracking codes more efficient”. Polish code breaking efforts were redundant at this point, the dynamic properties of the naval enigma meant the Germans deemed it unbreakable. The two achievements are poles apart-in scale, importance, difficulty and complexity. The battle of the Atlantic all lay in the hands of the team at Bletchley park; and Churchill was worried more about that than he was the Battle of Britain. The original enigma was static, it never changed its configuration. The naval enigma changed every 24 hours. The two were completely different implementations with different ciphers, configurations, plugboard connections, rotor orders and ring settings. The only commonality between the two is that they both use the word “enigma” in their names-nothing more.
@@dWFnZWVr thank you for that beautiful explanation. Too many people in the comments are tryna take away the glory from Alan that he and his team deserves

You mean Alan Turing, the person the British authorities completely and utterly treated like absolute garbage?
That’s him yeah. Any normal person though, would recognise him for the genius he was and this homage on our largest denomination bank note is at least a fine gesture.

Oh, my God money so beautiful 😍 Masha’Allah.
Whenever I try and use 50s they always shout over the manager “ can we accept these “ it’s like, it’s legal tender so why not?
So would these now enter circulation properly and be used in shops without managers needing to get called over since it’s so secure.
These notes are almost mystical. When I wanted to deposit some cash I had one of these bad boys and the lady at the counter thought it was fake and had to make sure it's real 3 times
@@waspywasp451 it’ll probably the same with these no doubt but tbh barely anyone is using money at the moment.
Tbf some small shops struggle to have the change for a £50. A worked in a charity shop and we had to turn a £50 down simply because we didn’t have enough change to give the guy. He was buying like a £3 knick knack and we only had like £30 of change in the till in the morning. He got himself a Greggs then came back with a £10 note.

Does anyone have an idea where I can get old notes for a good price?? Want to collect all of the Queen Elizabeth II notes before she passes.
If the queen passes, the bank notes really going to change?
@@hanymohamed7583 no cash going to end so why bother wasting money
You can find them in antique shops in the UK, your looking at about 10 to 20 quid for an early Queen Elizabeth note - if not in the UK probo ebay is your best bet.
Ebay and your not gonna get them for under £50 because that would be a waste of money literally
@@hanymohamed7583 Yep when the queen dies and Prince Charles is coronated the bank notes will change accordingly.
It’s not cleaner nor stronger but convenient for the bankers and their joeys . It cost less to produce than a paper cotton bank note.
I only get £20 notes on the machines
Yeah that’s to do with the usefulness of them. Because they aren’t very useful notes in everyday situations they are only available if you get them directly from a post office or bank
Cash machines never have 50s
So what is the point of this note? 99% of shops will not accept this note like current £50 note
This illegal not to accept the note of its legal tender

Just got to handle a couple of these. Total piece of badly concieved crap. Too small and too similar to ten pound notes. Like the other plastic notes stupidly too stiff, so once folded, as most people do, never lie flat again so pain in the .... in shop tills as spring out when the clip is lifted. Don,t know a single shop worker with a good word for the plastic notes. Also already seeing the fivers coming apart.
Yep, true and after being folded a few times they tear easily
I personally like my notes folded. I end up having to crease each note individually in the correct place with my nail.
Soon after the fivers came out I tried using a hammer to put the fold into a set of ten of them and all that happened was the notes split.
Some valid points but all massively exaggerated I never had any problems with them in a till. Even with paper notes once creased that crease will stay there forever you can flatten it out a bit but you can't get rid of it.
