    This is the first banknote hunt I've seen. Very interesting as I know nothing about banknotes. Would definitely like to see more 😊👍.

      I have done other banknote hunts. It's just something I don't do a lot of but I thought as the new Alan Turing notes were released today, I'd try something unusual! Not something I'll repeat that often though! - I don't know much either tbh, Jude, but we need to dip our toe into the water every now and again...as long as we have a towel to hand! 😂👍
      Thanks for your comment, appreciated as always 👍

    I can get my hands on £3000 in £5 notes the new type but I haven't a clue with notes may give it a go 🤔 now I have a better idea thanks

      Yes, I'm no expert on banknotes, but If you look at my earlier banknote hunts I explain the various serial number options including radars and binaries etc!
      I may do other more detailed explanations if/when I find them, but you do have to have a bit of patience!
      £3000 in £5 notes is a bit more bulky - 600 notes! I wish you luck 👍

      Yes, certainly something I don't do a lot of...probably won't be doing a £50 hunt again, but I might try £5 and £10 hunts if people are interested! 👍

      Since the new £50 was released on Wednesday, I thought I'd do something different to recognize the new note without having to have one of the new notes on day one! Sometimes, you get lucky, sometimes you don't with banknotes, but usually not! 👍

      Glad you liked the idea - chances of finding decent numbers (or errors, ftm) on these notes were slim to say the least, but if you don't look - you don't find! 😂👍

    Taking plenty of those to the coin fair in July. Nothing like pulling a wedge of these out and talking turkey.

      Yes, it is about time for that too - I think I might go to one soon, but I probably won't be taking the new £50 notes with me, alas! Thanks again 👍

      Unfortunately, I am unable to get £100 notes outside Scotland or N Ireland...I probably don't know enough about notes in general, but I'd jump at the opportunity to get 100 (old) £1 notes or even 100 £100 notes if I could! Thanks again 👍

      It was always very likely - but it was the new £50 Alan Turing note, so I thought I'd show my appreciation for the 'old' £50 notes! 👍They didn't hang around for long, that's for sure...😀

    Nice notes. Are they going to plastic? Think I prefer traditional paper

    • @CoinPig
      @CoinPig  3 роки тому +1

      Alas, polymer notes are becoming the norm, around the World now - All Bank of England notes are available in polymer versions and the old £20 and £50 notes will be withdrawn from circulation at the end of September next year [2022]
      The new £50 polymer note was released yesterday, hence the video!👍

    Why you collect all these traditional paper while the polymer will replace it in 2022?

    • @CoinPig
      @CoinPig  3 роки тому

      I am not keeping any of these banknotes, I only tried to find collectable errors or serial numbers, for example! The polymer banknotes were released on the same day I posted this hunt. Hope that clarifies this? 👍

    • @CoinPig
      @CoinPig  3 роки тому

      You have to find the right paper notes, that's the trick! Errors or serial numbers people prize, but it's always much more difficult after the first few years and the condition of notes are particularly important! Alas, the opportunity of finding those is rapidly diminishing! 👍
      Thanks again 👍

    I got AA 44 it looks cool but is it worth keeping?

    • @CoinPig
      @CoinPig  3 роки тому

      An AA series note is only generally worth a little more to collectors if it is a very low (or exceptionally a high) serial number or it has something else going for it, like a birthday or a 'radar' number or maybe a replacement note. 👍
      In all cases the banknotes need to be in as close to perfect condition as they can be in relation to age, to realise the highest values. 👍
      Thanks for commenting, appreciate your question 👍

    • @ashleyoconnor6580
      @ashleyoconnor6580 3 роки тому +1

      Can you please elaborate on radar number and what a replacement notes are please.

    • @CoinPig
      @CoinPig  3 роки тому

      Yes, sorry - just seen your reply, apologies for the delay getting back to you...
      Radar notes are serial numbers where the numbers are reversed, so a 123321 is a 'radar' - similarly a serial number like 121121 would be a binary radar - a serial number composed of just two numbers and in reversed sequence - a binary banknote generally has more appeal than a trinary note (a serial number composed of three numbers - like the first example)
      Top of the list though, is a single number serial number like 222222 or 111111 - you'll never find a 000000 however, as numbers start at 000001 for each cypher - the initial 2 letters and 2 numbers - for example AA01
      Hope that helps?
      Thanks for your question 👍
