So you are going into senior year not doing guard. Amazing. Don’t get me wrong I love guard, but I like that you are looking into things logically. I didn’t know what guard was until they came to my junior high years ago. Now I’m a junior soon to be senior who has been in guard for 3 years. I am just finishing it off senior year and trying to leave the band directors with good structure that follow.
Celeste vega yup, it was a hard decision but I’m really glad that I made this choice. I’m so excited to be able to go do so many great things now, life is already opening up lots of opportunities for me. :)
@@MsAlison The video made with passion and sincerity is very precious and I am grateful to have watched it. Thank you very much, I think it will be a happy and pleasant day thanks to your excellent sensitivity. I feel very happy because I think you will get better soon. I feel so happy because I think you will get very good soon. I'll be waiting in front of you Warm is the best when it's cold. More than anything, I think the warmth I feel in your video is the best.
ALSO PRACTICE FLOURISHES FOR RIFLE AND SABRE! & THUMB FLIPS AND CONES ON FLAG!
Alison Chin this year is my first year doing color guard and I made the cadet indoor color guard team and I am so happy because it is really fun.
15 MINUETS EARLY what an intense intro
Nika Shlopov AHAHAHA I didn’t know what category to put it in and it seemed important sksksksk.
Alison Chin my director tells us to be there 30 minutes early 😭😂
@@miyaperdon GURL IT SUCKSSSS. I keep getting there earlier and earlier because I don't know which time is the regular time or if they've already added the fifteen minute rule lmaoo. it's a good life lesson though cuz I'm always late to things lol.
Alison Chin yeah I’ve definitelyyy improved my time management skills while doing guard 😂 especially money management as well since during winterguard we have to buy our own food at concession stands for lunch and dinner. Gotta make sure I still have enough money 😂
Please please PLEASE be confident in yourself!! Even if you make a team, still be confident and have a great attitude, and don’t compare yourself to others!! Don’t be hard on yourself, you learn at your own pace. This is advice I wish someone would’ve told me, please take it to heart :)
God I joined colorguard this year and.. at summer practice I tried my first hurricane toss and I was so scared of it so.. it ended up hitting me in the face really hard and since then I was SO scared to do tosses like.. IT TOOK 4 PEOPLE TO HELP ME LET GO. I finally let go & im much more comfortable with tosses now.. thank god.
i just had tryouts for my school’s colorguard and i couldnt even do a single lmfao😭but im so excited for band camp and learning everything!!!!
paige yeehaw yes gurl, you got it!!!! i hope you have so much fun! :))
paige yeehaw you got it. I was the same I got a double before single so then I always struggled with singles last year😂
I’m currently 4’11 and this is my first year doing guard. It’s a struggle bc I’m short😂
Cheyenne Chapman oOFFFF GURL!!! you got it haha, i believe in you.
Alison Chin thank you😂💕 I am ready for band camp next month
Girl I feel u
girl sammeee. im going in for freshman and im 4'9 :')
same im 5,0 tho
I made color gaurd a few weeks ago and I’m going into high school and I’m excited but also kinda scared. 😂
HeyItsSara you got it gurl :). i wish i joined as a freshman, it’s gonna help you in high school a lot bc it gives you an instant family there.
same !! i know nothing about guard and i’m going into high school this year so this is kinda scary but exciting 😅
I wish I watched this before I joined color guard. I felt like this video would’ve helped me understand what to expect. This is my first year and I’m not gonna lie we just finished band camp and it wasn’t easy but I’m gonna work really hard and do my best. It hard work but it’s a lot of fun.
yesssss, you totally got it! good skills! :D
honestly super scared; just a few days ago my friend and i got an acceptance email into colourgaurd, its our first year so 😅 i plan on doing it for prolly 2 years js cus i wanna graduate early. good luck to everyone else joining this upcoming year :)
you guys are gonna be great! :) good skills!
I love this video cause I’m a senior right now and did color guard since sophomore year (quit by senior year) and it’s just the whole program at my school was toxic that I had to get away from it. If I could, I’d honestly buy a flag and rifle just to spin for fun.
You explain why you’re leaving are all the reasons I wanna leave, but I just can’t het myself to.. I also have lost feeling in a hand of mine bc it’s way littler and all so sisters struggling
:(.. but thank u sm for this video, it was so helpful!💗 hope senior year goes well!!
HannahMarie aw. ultimately you gotta figure out if staying or leaving will make you happier. honestly i made three pros and cons lists over the course of deciding to leave. i’m glad the video was helpful tho!
awe i’m doing it for the first time this upcoming 2019 school year and this video helped so much ty💘
Fun With Katie ahh, yay, i’m so glad it helped! :D have fun in guard!!!
Fun With Katie omg same...I’m kinda scared but the girls were really nice...teehee
Fun With Katie omg same...I’m kinda scared but the girls were really nice...teehee
Alex 27 aww, have fun! :)
It's such a hard decision to make... You are strong to be able to recognize your path and break away from color guard even though you love it. I've seen so many students push through in places where they aren't meant to be for whatever reason, then they often bring the whole team down. Good luck on following your passion, you seem like someone who is going to excel no matter what you decide to do!
Your comment truly means the world to me. Thank you so much for your kind and supportive words.
I’m doing my first year in 2019-20. I just started Guard sectionals and I’m freaking out because my silk keeps rolling up while I do my drop spins! Most of the vets say it’s normal, and that it happens to everyone in the beginning, BUT IM FREAKING OUT. This video defiantly helped calm some nerves though.
gurl, yes, that is totally normal, dw. if they haven't told you this tip yet, keep your thumbs in line with each other when you're doing drop spins. one of my vets suggested trying to put my thumbs on the seam of the silk every time i grabbed when i joined. focus on it for now and eventually it'll become muscle memory to do it without it rolling up. :D
Alison Chin thanks for the tips girly😋
i wouldn’t be this worried about starting guard if it weren’t janky because of quarantine :”””)
Im starting as a sophomore and I think I’m in? They told me they’ll let me know when I can pick up a flag but I have no knowledge on how to use it 😭
Excellent honest commentary! As a former winter guard member (4 years), I understand everything you said! It’s a painful, costly, time-consuming commitment. But the experience... unforgettable, amazing, confidence-building, artistic, beautiful, colorful, memorable. My heart will never forget.
I commend your 2 years of hard work and realizing your talents were better suited off the “field and floor” onto the stage! Bravo!
thank you! absolutely agree with how you describe it, too!
Most of the reasons that you say why you quit are reasons why I never could quit. Lol. I never really had friends in guard. I'm shy and there was one year where I had almost no friends and was low key made fun of the whole season but a group of jealous girls. But when I was on the field, I felt free and didn't care about who was watching me. It's an escape for me.
This is our first time doing winter guard in 5 years 🤩 and this is my first time ever doing guard lol 😅
Serina Trevino cool! good skills! :))
I'm sorry your high school color guard was so intense, this is just a heads up for anyone who may see this video- most high school guards and marching bands aren't this intense. My guard only has marching season and we occasionally do winter guard if we can get the money. We only have one earlymorning practice a week, and no weekend practices unless it's right before a sat comp. We also only have flag line and aren't super rough with moves and routines so only 1-3 people get hurt a year. I hope you guys look into your guard and don't be super scared to join, especially if you want to do other things. Many of my guard members are also in show choir and theatre. All schools are different so I encourage you to check out your guard!
What? Seriously? I'm in middle school, and we have early practice everyday (but Wednesday), and After school practice 3 days. 😮
@@julia-db6ve wow! We don't even have a middle school guard. It's crazy how all over the place guard is
Im going into my senior year and I made it into my first year in color guard. :) I survived Guard camp and We’re doing summer practices now. I worked really hard to get where I’m at now and I’m looking forward to our season!
I just made my high school color guard team and I’m so excited :) thanks for the video
Alex Ochs yay, congrats!! have fun in it! :)
you go Alex
I’m a snare player at my school and because of a scheduling conflict i had to be put in jv guard’s class period. i unexpectedly love it!! it’s scary (especially with how generally uncoordinated i am) but i’ve always thought it was beautiful and i’m so excited to be a part of it. thank you for making this video, it really helped calm some of the newbie nerves :)
I used to play volleyball and loved it but what happened was I joined gaurd and I found my passion im glad you did what was best for you
U should do what’s in my guard bag end of year for SnG.
I’m going into high school next year and am in my first season of winter guard now! I absolutely love Colorguard and have been dancing my whole entire life! I’m mainly on Sabre line and this is so helpful for my competition bag and what to expect for band camp! I love this video so much!
The day of my first comp. (6th grade) I was doing a run thru and I did a hinge and my knee popped out of its socket. I couldn’t finish the run thru, but I did save my strength for the show and still preformed :)
oof! that's impressive that you kept going! super admirable :D.
I’m going into my senior year of high school AND my first year of color guard in 19/20 :’) definitely nervous and hopeful that it is all worth it . but thank you sm for this video and all its info!
ahh gurl, have fun! make sure to make the most of your senior year, too, because guard can be very time consuming!
Alison Chin thank you again for the advice :0 I will for sure keep it in mind!!
@rhiarose how is it going? I’m planning on going into winter guard after Christmas break and I need tips
Hey I’m on the same boat but my tryouts are next week and I will be a senior next year! Do u think colorguard is consuming ur senior year or is it fun and manageable with college apps and all that? Idk if I should try out
I love this I'm in my 3rd year or guard and I related to a lot and I am glad there is people teaching this
Going to try out next month! I have been so into colorguard after I saw it in 6th grade, definitely nervous with covid and tryouts but your videos have helped me prepare!! Tyty!!
ah, that's great! good luck at tryouts! :)
I joined in the first week of school and since I’m then only freshman there, I need this. Thanks!!
aw, glad it helped! good skills! :D
Could you please do a "what to expect for band camp" video that would be awesome and make my stress level go down
i talk about that in my upcoming high school advice video! :D but basically it'll be like your summer practices if you've already had any. it's not that bad. lots of conditioning, stretching, across the floors, and flag basics. there will probably be weapon line auditions but if it's your first year then idk if they'll make you try it (we don't make people at my school). it's rlly fun and you'll probably play bonding games w the band. color guard stays separated from band for the most part tbh but you might go down to the field a little. if you wanna check it out (link in this video’s description), in my junior year band camp vlog i recapped what we did every day of my band camp to give you an idea of what to expect. :D
It's my first year in color guard and it's so fun. We only started color guard up again two years ago because it got disbanded so we only have flag lines. But I can't wait to learn more. Love your videos
oo interesting! & thank you sm! :D
watching this cause i made the team in march and i’m about to go to pre camp next week💓 being only 4’11 makes it a bit harder but i know i can do it!
saniyahmirah love the confidence, you got it! :)
I just finished my first marching season and am now going on to my second indoor season. We do guard so much different that you and your school do. I loved this video I was so happy to know that my guard isn't as crazy its just color guard being color guard. It was so cool to be able to compare my guard to yours and how you guys run.
:D! good skills on your indoor season!
Ok literally just 10 seconds in and you're already spilling the truth there😂 be there 15 minutes before you're right on time, be there exactly on time you're late, be there late that's unacceptable
My color guard has let people in 7th grade join, and I was one of those people along with another seventh grader who's 2 older siblings both did color guard. I only caught my first flag toss yesterday, and I've been doing guard since August. I cried every day after practice my entire first week of guard camp. We learned drill + work so quickly, on every possible (I think) piece of equipment (fans, flags, swing flags, saber, rifle) I hate swing flags, and saber is my favorite. There are definetly different words used in clarifying everything. I was also always the one with the biggest smile because I used to do dance, and my dance teacher always said, "fake smile, smile even if you aren't happy, still smile and look and act happy" (something around those words)
My marching band + color guard had a lot thrown at them this year. We've been recording for comps for a while.
It's hard. I'm probably the youngest in the whole marching band/color guard.
I would give more details but I don't want to reveal to much about me :/
P.S. on 10/21, it rained the day before filming, and the bathrooms were closed. Long story short, it was miserable.
keep your head up!! you're starting guard much earlier than most people, and that means that if you keep practicing and working hard, you're gonna end up being one of the best color guard people around! you just gotta keep pushing through and not giving up. it's a unique skill that people's bodies aren't used to, but you will get it!
I’m trying out for color guard this year (fingers crossed I make it🤞🏾) but I was a band kid for four years and watching this makes it seems like color guard is a lil harder
color guard is def p hard! band kids work hard tho, too, so i’m sure you can do it. good luck! :D
the 15 minute rule is FACTSSS because one time we were supposed to be at practice at 10:30 so that’s when i got there but they were already on the field.
yupppp, early is always better w band ahhhh.
I had fun my first year of color guard my sofmore year but I didn't make it for my junior year and I'm a bit sad cause they are my second family but I'm going to keep trying
aww, sorry to hear that! i'm so glad you're staying determined though. you got it!! :D
It’s my first marching season. We did June camp for three days and I have never been good with pain. The pain I have experienced practicing flag wasn’t horrible but more than I thought I could normally handle. I’ve hit my head shoulder blades my back. I’ve gotten a really green bruise on my thumb doing a J Toss but I went to band camp the next day. Just take some Ibuprofen for swelling bruises and pain and you should be fine. Just tough through it. We got this!
I’m kinda nervous but mostly excited for my first year of guard. I have some moves down but only one toss. Any tips on how to get the tosses down?
Rockin' Bri S. honestly, practice is really the only thing that’ll help. and ask your coaches or more experienced members to help you out!!!!! they’ll have tons of tips!! also tosses will get a lot easier as you get stronger, so as you guys do conditioning or just as you guys practice it’ll get a lot easier. some things to check on for some tosses are the pathways your flag takes during the prep and about your release timing so make sure those are good! good skills!
my cousin is a captain for color guard and asked me if I would like to do winter guard and I’m only in 7th I game straight to this video to get help 😊💞
Rosalie Valero aw, yay! hope the video helped! have fun in winter guard :)).
This makes me
More excited I got into my schools guard team!!
Abi Estrella ahh yay! it’s gonna be so fun!!
My school's flag bags have our logo, name, and guard number on them. We also got black book bags with our school's logo and and color guard embroidered on the front.
marching season this year is whack (as you could imagine why), unfortunately this is my freshmen year and first year of colorgaurd also so show this year is only gonna be 4 minutes long when typically it’s 8 minutes. however i’m excited for winter guard:)
we started camp early august but my flag work has been a breeze i got my horizontal, 45, single, hand 45, and a cross arm thing( forgot what it’s called haha), i’m pretty impressed with myself, however rifle work needs some help, all i’ve got so far is a single. and they haven’t given us enough time to teach us a routine so we had to learn it by ourselves., and first show is in three weeks. wish me luck!
EDIT- YOU WILL GET BRUISES, DONT BE SUPRISED. MY LEG LOOKS LIKE A MOLDY APPLE.
good luck with your first show! and yess omg, i'm sorry about how messed up the seasons will be this year, but stick w it, it'll be more fun later! :D
GIRL I FEEL YOU, all though our show is 6 minutes, it's my first show and I'm on flag and rifle and it's kind of stressful
I tried out for winterguard this school year as a freshman and it's so fun !! The tryouts were back in Nov and I surprisingly made it. I kind of just tried out for fun and didn't think much of it but I actually made it and we just had our first performance last week :) but I still can't make a pop toss :(
congrats on making the team! :D don't be too hard on yourself about the pop toss, it'll come. just keep practicing :)!
@@MsAlison thank you !!
I’m a freshman & in colorguard & we had our first game 2 days ago & it’s exhausting! We have 3 different flags to do choreography with for each movement & we have to like put each flag on the beginning of every movement & we literally have to run halfway across the football field & i be sweating my makeup off like oh my goodness Friday night games stress me out sm but I’ll get used to them
I'm doing color guard in May bc that's when it's starts in my school and honestly this gave me so much hope but I'm also scared 😬😂 but I'm excited 😁
haha, you got it!! don't be scared, you're gonna be great! :D
@@MsAlison thanks 😊
3 beat rule. 1 beat to drop, one to grab your equipment and chill out, assess the situation, and figure out where you are, and 1 beat to get back in.
I'm starting second year and trying out for rifle rn lol.. I wanted to watch some videos bc I'm so excited for the season to begin.. but sadly we dont have winter guard :(
good luck on rifle!! :D that was always my favorite piece of equipment. aww, sorry to hear that you don't have winter guard. maybe there's an independent winter guard near you you could try out for? :D
I am in my freshman year of college and I miss gaurd so much

My friends (they’re all in band) want me to join color guard this year as a sophomore. They say it’ll be fun and I’ll make new friends plus I will get to be with them more (that’s what they said). I feel like since I didn’t do it on my freshman year I’ll be behind and i also don’t want to be lonely; I know some girls in my grade who are in color guard but I don’t talk to them. I feel like it would be a great experience and I’ll get to get out of my house more and not be as lazy. Could you give me your opinion or advice?
I'd say definitely go for it! It will definitely get you out of your house, haha, and don't worry about joining as a sophomore. I joined as a sophomore, too, and people even join as seniors. You can totally pick up the skills you need, and your teammates will be there to help you along the way. You will definitely make a lot of new friends, color guard teams become like families and you get to hang out with the band kids, too. It is a really cool thing to experience, so I'd say at least give it a shot! :D
Alison Chin thank you I might actually go for it :)
You should make videos on tosses 💞
I am now in my 1st year of marching band and it's really fun and my band is the only in our area that dose not have color guard but if we are garentueed 50 or more people next year we will get color guard for the first time in 6 years!!!!!! And if we do get color guard I will be trying out and hopefully become one!!
I just remembered when Disney opens and we have band and colorgaurd next year I will get to go to Disney and preform with the band
yay! :D that was definitely one of the highlights for me when i did guard.
commenting as someone in 2022.. but i got stuck as pit for this season. i signed up completely forgetting about guard, and once they had the numbers for the uniforms they told me they cant add me in! but during that time drills weren't started and they didnt even have the uniform numbers sent in. got me soooo mad. so im working the shit out of guard rn and im hoping to see the results for winter guard.
i just joined colorguard and i’m on weapon line and it’s first day of band camp and i feel like i’m terrible compared to the other people that are on weapon.
lacey aw gurl, i’ve been there, i know i was the worst one before. just keep working hard, practice when you can, and you’re gonna get so good over the course of the season.
hi! i really love color guard it’s such a pretty art and all the other higher level girls make it even more intriguing. but there’s some things i just can’t do, it’s my first year im currently going through second week of band camp, i feel so discouraged sometimes and it’s so defeating :( any advice on keeping your head up?
aww, gurl, i feel that. the first year of color guard is definitely the hardest one. i honestly can't think of advice for keeping your head up besides just keeping on working. know that it's going to get easier. like our bodies aren't used to spinning flags, rifles, and sabres, it's something completely foreign to our muscles so it'll just take time for you to get used to it. just keep practicing consistently and it's gradually going to get so much easier without you even noticing. any practice really helps, even if it feels like you're getting nowhere (but try your best to practice with the best technique you can). you have totally got it, b, just keep pushing!
hey girl!! i know this is really late, but hopefully you kept pushing through. my first year was a real struggle, but by my sophomore year i had a solo in my A class winterguard show, and we won wgi world championships for A class!! My junior year got short obvi bc of corona, but during marching i had a 50 count solo during marching and multiple solos during my winter show for open class. keep your head up, it’s worth it!!
I’m trying out for guard next year in high school and I’m lowkey kinda scared 😭🤦♀️
I joined colorguard my freshman year and I’m finishing it off my senior year as a captain
Me watching this even though I've been in guard for 2 years 👁️👄👁️
i'm on a desktop so i can't see the emojis, but i know exactly what they are LMAO.
I’m going to start high school next year and I plan on joining color gaurd so I just wanna start practicing things early so I’m not a whole noob
Omg tryouts Tomorrow I’m so nervous I hope I do good!!!😧
omg yes gurl, good skills! you got it! :D
Alison Chin Thxs lol I’ve been practicing pop toss lol I love color guard
how’d it go?
This is my second year of color guard for me ( I'm in middle) i just got captain though
zuzu lily wow, congrats !!!!!
im going to be a freshman next year and joining AHHH IM EXCITED BUT SCARED 😖
ahh, you're gonna have so much fun!! :D
@@MsAlison I hope so :)
i wanted to try cheer at first but i couldn't because i ddint have a physical which is technically my fault so i couldn't tryout i was sad at first but i can try color guard instead bc at first i was not sure which one to do but now i already signed up for color guard and its gonna be my first time and i really hope that i can do it well bc my sister did it but couldn't because during the summer we went to mexico so she couldn't go to the school and do it and so she recommended it for me 😊😊
one of the tricks I use for drill to find sides is if your look up at the judges its 21 to old to do guard and when you are at the judges perspective its 12 to young to do guard
i’m the only straight guy in my color guard haha also this is my first year kinda scared but band camp is virtual now :(
you'll be great! wow, virtual band camp. that's wild, good luck! :D
i didnt know anything about flags somehow got in and now im doing band camp. i really wanna quit because im so exhausted 🥲 and doing conditioning when other people mess up is tiring. and being yelled at too
first year is the hardest, but it gets more fun as you go through the year! your body will start getting used to it :)
Heyyy ok so. My advice, I just started my first year at the highschool level with colorguard and honestly getting yelled at sucks. Yet, your body will eventually catch up. It is honestly so worth it at the end. From what I've been told, shows especially during winterguard are harsh. Yet, it is always worth it at the end.
you deserve more subscribers!!! thanks for this video!!!
Meg Seppi aw thank you! thanks for watching! :))
We got our flags today and i was practicing a pop toss I think and when I finally got it in the air I didn't get it right and it came back down and popped me in the mouth so I busted my lip on my first day 👍😂
oof! feel better ahh, color guard is wild like that.
It's difficult to to the 15-minute rule when the parent(s) that are driving you say you'll get there when you do.
I’m joining a spring training thing. I’m nervous but hopefully I will do good I do Irish dance so hopefully that will help be a bit
good luck! i'm sure it'll be fun :)
Can you make a video on across the floors?? They are my biggest struggles :(
i’m trying out for winter guard this week at my school cause my friends who are in marching band guard and are also gonna try out for winter guard said i should. i’m really nervous
ahh, don't be nervous, b. you got it! good skills :))
Lmao the first part is so true. ❤️
I’m gonna sign up for color guard this year so that I will be good enough for freshman year but I’m still a little nervous
ahh, good luck! :)
I know that I’m 3 years late but I have been looking into color guard a little bit and I want to do it next year. I’m super nervous already just thinking about it. How do you overcome that fear??
What do you need for auditions? What do you already need to know, and what things do you need to have before? I am a freshman but want to do color guard next year so I'm just trying to ask around.
Madelyn Adams tbh i went in not knowing like anything ab guard. they don’t expect you to know anything ab it or how to do it, so you’ll be fine w whatever amount of knowledge you have! they should provide you equipment and things, too, so just have clothes you can workout in, water, and sunscreen. good skills at auditions!!
@@MsAlison thank you that helped alot.😁
I have camp this week and this upcoming week and im so stressed cause im doing bad but they go fast and i get frusterated and half the gaurd doesnt like me for that but that just doest matter right now 😂😂
you got it! just keep working hard!
I’m switching to a new (bigger school) in September and it’s going to be my junior year. Is it a good idea to try out for colour guard cause I find it really cool? I’m not sure if it’s something you have to have had started in sophomore year or whatever
emily h definitely go for it!! i honestly wish i had joined my freshman year but you’ll be totally fine if you join your junior year! it’ll be a great experience! :)
Ok so I'm going to do colorguard this school year but I'm so nervous and I kinda don't want to do it now.😕 someone help
Alayjah Collins oh no, no, no, don’t be nervous! it’s fun!! yes, it’ll be hard but you can totally do it, i believe in you, & it’ll be totally worth it. i promise you’ll be glad you did it.
I’m in 8th grade now and I really want to do color guard at my high school my upcoming freshman year. I have a bit of experience (from youtube tutorials) and also because i went to a virtual try it night this year. I don’t know if I will be able to even make it in because of the little experience I have. I know a routine from a youtube tutorial that is around a minute and I don’t even have an actual guard flag or rifle yet. I know absolutely nothing and I’m definitely coming into this late. Kinda scared but I still have hope. The guard teacher is kinda strict though and thought I was his landlord’s daughter haha so idk. Any tips for beginners with 0 experience who want to be in guard in high school?
I honestly would say don't stress about it! I joined color guard when I was a sophomore in HIGH SCHOOL so you're already on an earlier timeline than I was :). I even knew people that joined as SENIORS in high school. So really, don't sweat it, it sounds like you're already making great strides towards it. Since a rifle is a bit more expensive and trickier, I would suggest maybe buying, renting, or borrowing a flag to try out first. Good luck! You've got this.
how do you deal w hate :( my school is so so so judgmental . we performed for them & we got booed . i took my first year of c/g in 7th grade which was cadet , & we got 1 place at our first competition then 2 at our last comp ! & in championships for cadet we got 2nd place :) !! we were a first year team & our accomplishments got so much attention by the town :))) ! & i auditioned for my high school c/g & i got it ! 😆 but our school performance , we booed like i said & we got hate . my team ignored it but there still some there & there , but any help w hate girl ? i would take any ! ❤️
michelle v . first off, congrats on your comps!! :)) and ahh, girl, it is rough. my school doesn’t ever boo us but i know they consider us the “dance troupe rejects” and stuff (even though only like one of us tried out for that). honestly, my only tip is to ignore their hate. you’re living your best life, don’t listen to them. maybe try to educate them about it or get them to try it. i feel like a lot of people don’t understand how hard it is or what it really is. so for the most part, ignore the hate, rise above them, you won’t have to see those people ever again after these four years. just try to get them to understand what exactly color guard is and why it’s so great. good luck!
I am 4"11.
IM in 8th grade.
I want to join because it looks fun, so I make freinds and not be as shy. ❤
GINGER THE BEST CAT aww, you should definitely join! i met my closest friends there :)).

I’m a freshman starting color guard in my sophomore year
yay! good skills :D.
Do you have any tips on remembering choreography faster? I’m really struggling with this (it’s my first year)
Honesty, just repetition. Over and over and over, and you'll start remembering. It is harder at first, but as you keep doing guard, it subconsciously becomes a lot easier to remember work.
The video I’ve been looking for!!! T H A N K Y O U
a_ aesthetics ah great! i hope it helped!! :D
God bless❤prayer here if needed loves❤
I’m going to be in color guard for my first time next year as a freshman. I was wondering how you were able to balance homework with color guard because that’s one of the things I am really worried about.
apologies for the late reply ahh! honestly, just try as hard to get as much of your homework done during school as you can. eventually, being in band will just teach you the best time management plan for your situation.
Alison Chin thank you for the response and tips. I can’t wait to try out for color guard at the end of this year!!! Hopefully I’ll learn how have better time management by the end of this year.
I know I’m late lol, but what kind of tricks gave you the most injuries? I’m starting color guard next school year and I wanna know what to be careful with if I can do anything to not get hurt as much. Thx 🥰 (also great vid, I learned a lot)
for me, 45s and then prolly rifle or sabre tosses. don’t let them scare you tho! you’ll be fine.
See im not even in guard im low key just sitting here crying about how cool guard is and waiting for tryouts
We have the same drill set # I'm g6 too!!!
haha, cool! :D
does it matter what color electrical tape we use????????
if it’s just for practice, no. BUT your coach will tell you what specific colors you need for the show bc i know some people who had to tape their sabres orange instead of the usual colors. i say get white and black and then wait to hear if you guys need any wild colors.
I’ve applied for captain for 2 years in a row and got co captain. I’ve been in my band for the longest and I am now a junior. We recently got a new coach and I honestly think I’m going to get co again for my senior year and it just sucks because I work so hard and I’m the most experienced member. Do you have any advice for me to impress my coach?
honestly, fam, you're asking the wrong person, bahaha. i generally felt ignored by my coach. they did see my practice a lot though and that made them notice me; like i practiced 24/7, i was always out there practicing before school, as soon as i was done with my water breaks, after school, and so on. i think something they were looking for from me was more leadership. so really show that you can be a great leader. like don't be overbearing haha, but you know be someone that your teammates can rely on. and hey, co-captain is still pretty great!
Why am I watching this I've been doing guard for 3 years lol
I always show up 5 mins early cuz I’m not showing up that early💀
My best friend busted her eyebrow open doing the 45 toss she now has a slit in her eyebrow
oof, that's rough. guard is such a painful sport lol.
@@MsAlison today I was trying to learn the cone toss or whatever it's called and it hit my nose and now it might be bruise by morning. My mom said a bruise is forming.
