They literally went to Wall Street without telling anyone and played this shit.
That happened.
Rock gods.
Wow
They have been canceling for a long time
@@MichelleShowyea video ain’t showing you the actual one I think, they straight up incited a riot at Wall Street filming this lol
At 4:50 (in your video), you can see a cop up in Tim Commerford's face and Tim's laughing while playing bass. Tom Morello gave an interview once about this video, and he said at that point police had tried to break up the show and the cops had unplugged their instruments. But because they were filming a music video, the song was pre-recorded and playing through the speakers from a record, and they were just pretending to play along. So when the cops yanked the cords out of the instruments but the music kept going, the cops were genuinely spooked, which cracked Tim up and he just keeps playing to freak them out more.
Now that’s wild!!
They really did this in front of wall street. That's all real footage. Michael Moore the director got arrested but was released quickly.
Wow
Michael included bail money in the video budget. Smart dude
Not to mention, they actually got wall st. to shut down for the day. Fucking awesome!
Moore told the band 'DO NOT STOP PLAYING NO MATTER WHAT' Also there is a great interview about this. Even the suits dance
@@nadinesmith5914 Michael Moore has been a legit voice for a long time, and some people from every side seem to have something to complain about him, but he’s been a steady voice for the Everyman
the one dislike is from the capitalist who wants you to sleep now in the fire
🤣
and RATM just gave away their music and charged nothing for their concerts?
@@chrisw3421 "yet you participate in society, curious, I am very intelligent"
@@chrisw3421 They did actually do a couple of free concerts in front of audiences of ~50k people and also donated the proceeds from several concerts to charity.
"The Nina, The Pinta, The Santa Maria...
The noose and the rapist.
The field's overseer.
The agents of orange.
The priests of Hiroshima.
The cost of my desire:
Sleep now in the fire."
Shit. Common man. Those lyrics.
Fkn A. Fuhreekin LOVE this band.
Deep
Hell yes, brother. RATM's whole catalogue is fire.
That’s a fact
the entire Rage Against The Machine back catalogue was banned from American radio after 9/11 , also you wanna see what Zak did when they performed live for BBC radio 6 for Christmas number one hahahah BBC cut him off but the cameras kept rolling , what a legend
What really? That’s crazy
The post-9/11 world was what made me a fan of them. I was in middle school, seeing so much unquestioning worship of America and a bloodlust from so many people who were hungry to destroy foreign nations, it really made me question everything that was being presented as truth. Next thing I knew, I discovered punk music and other types of politically aware bands like Rage, and it was such a wave of clarity.
They were not banned from radio here in the US, what a ridiculous thing to say. Now, the song Bodies by Disturbed was popular and that song got yanked because of the implied lyrics.
@@chrisw3421 ok radio stations were ‘advised’ not to play them , along with many other songs and artists
@@chrisw3421 the song “Bodies” is by Drowning Pool, not Disturbed. But you are correct that it was pulled from radio play as were some other popular songs at the time.
Not to many people have reacted to ratm Maria, but imo it's some of Zack's best lyrics.
Hey you guy’s should check out a version of that song done by an artist named Grandson
AGREED. Dive into that shit.
Maria is one I'd love to see. Mic Check is another slept on song with some real revolution bars
One the best rage songs.

3.) Queensryche: "Take Hold of the Flame" (Live in Tokyo).
Just a couple thoughts from an infinite rabbit hole...🤗🙌🥃
Got u soon, i did down rodeo already
@@MichelleShow
Got it. I'll check out your "Down Rodeo" reaction. I didn't see it...You're great man.
Dude, Know Your Enemy next!
Very happy to welcome you to the Rage family bro! ✊
He actually is a very talented drummer - even by drumming snob standards, but you haven't even yet heard some of the work of his that best demonstrates it: their first, self-tited album really does a good job of showcasing the greater limits of his drumming ability - probably better than any other album he's ever been involved with honestly. You should check out more stuff from that album.
I'm always here for the RAGE! tap into it. Feed it. Grow it. Use as needed. 😈😈😈😈
Zach is incredible, like whoa. But did you know Tom Morello has a degree in Political Science from Harvard?
I've seen 4 or 5 of your Rage reactions and I like 'em and believe 'em. Subscribed!
The stairs they performed on was the place where George Washington took the oath of office. Definitely gotta check out “Calm Like a Bomb” and “Mic Check”.
Even though you don’t know a lot of drummers to call Brad Wilk your favourite ain’t bad. Most of us seasoned lifelong rock / metal folk ain’t gonna argue you on Brad Wilk he a beast and a rhythm 🥁 genius. He up there for sure. He’s in my top 5 also and I’m a 20 year metal head 🌌
RATM went to The New York Exchange He'll yeah! It created a huge crowd of fans, on lookers, NY D, cameras. Quite a huge scene.
Damn can’t believe I didn’t see this til a week later! I been calling for this reaction for weeks! They did that. Straight up rolled up to Wall Street, and shut it down. They’re about that action, not no phony shit to sell records. They practice what they preach.
You really gotta listen to the lyrics now, they’re fucking deep. Talking about all the greed throughout history that has led to o many horrible things.
“I am The Nina, The Pinta, The Santa Maria”
Christopher Columbus’ 3 ships that he got lost on and luckily stumbled across America, then proceeded to rape and massacre thousands of Native Americans for new resources for Europe.
“The noose and the rapist, the fields overseer.”
Plantation owners, raping, enslaving, and killing millions for their own profits.
“The agents of orange”
Agent Orange was a nickname given to a chemical gas used by the USA during the Vietnam war. Causing several different diseases, illnesses, and cancers to millions of innocent Vietnamese civilians and to American soldiers as well. All for a war we had no business being involved in, in the name of “democracy”.
“The priest of Hiroshima”
Hiroshima, one of the two Japanese cities that the USA dropped an atomic bomb on during WWII. Killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese civilians, and permanently damaging countless thousands more with all kinds of diseases, cancers, and birth defects.
The COST of my DESIRE, so sleep now in the fire.
If you haven’t heard their song “Know your enemy” it’s 🔥
No Shelter by rage!! It’s another banger 🤘🏻
Yo you vibing Zack Tom and Brad. Watch this video about Tim, the bass player's approach to music and he talks about growing up with Zack. DOPE!
Arnie Ball Music Man: inspired by Tim Commeford.
7:10 I'm glad you asked that because, following the 9/11 attacks, one of the largest radio companies in the US banned several songs for questionable lyrics.
Most artists on the list had 1 or 2 songs, Rage had their entire catalogue on the ban list.
Watch it again and see if you can spot the Trump for President sign
Exactly
And this album came out in 1999! It’s like Zach and the Simpsons can predict the future! Is Zack the next Nostradamus??? 🤯
RATM "Know Your Enemy"
My man, Rage- Take The Power Back, and Without a Face, those are so dope I can't believe you haven't done these. Have fun!
Hellz ya! RATM is the only band with the cojones to shut down Wall St.
Lol them little commies ain't shutting down shit
They was put on a no play list after 9/11
Love all your RATM reactions! Please do Mic Check (lyric video). It's 🔥🔥🔥
💯
Up Next: I have to remove him from "The Trash Brothers" ....
Joyner Lucas - Zim Zimma
Wen I was young rage was first band that drew me into music
I used to only listen to rap and R&B like most black ppl, Rage drew me into rock, now I own 2 guitars, a bass and a drum set and my music preference is a lot more open, literally thanks to RATM.
Your so kool man
Your channel is so chill I like your alternative’ness your unique man
Preciate that!
Great reaction bro
Excellent, all 4 RATM albums are 10 out of 10, my fave is Battle of los angleles, I saw them live a couple of times in the UK, its so cool people are discovering them nowadays too, sad thing is their songs and lyrics are still relevant today, other songs to check out will be Mic Check, Maria, Ashes in the fall, Microphone fiend, Renegades of Funk, def Maggies farm (love their cover) How I could just kill a man(live with Cypress hill if you can find that one)
I love this one. The video is awesome.
I never seen the video before. I watched it after watching your reaction... then I learned this (from the wikipedia page about the song:
The music video for the song, which was directed by Michael Moore with cinematography by Welles Hackett, features the band playing in front of the New York Stock Exchange, intercut with scenes from a satire of the popular television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? which is named Who Wants to Be Filthy F#&%ing Rich. Quoted at the end of the song is Republican politician Gary Bauer stating that, "a band called 'The Machine Rages On' - er - 'Rage Against the Machine', that band is anti-family and it's pro-terrorist", following an incident outside of fellow Republican Alan Keyes' 2000 primary campaign town hall event, where Keyes jumped into a mosh pit formed while Rage Against the Machine was playing.[3]
The shoot for the music video on January 26, 2000, caused the doors of the New York Stock Exchange to be closed. The production had attracted several hundred people, according to a representative for the city's Deputy Commissioner for Public Information.[4] New York City's film office does not allow weekday film shoots on Wall Street. Moore had permission to use the steps of Federal Hall National Memorial but did not have a permit to shoot on the sidewalk or the street, nor did he have a loud-noise permit or the proper parking permits.[5] "Michael basically gave us one directorial instruction, 'No matter what happens, don't stop playing'," Tom Morello recalled. When the band left the steps, NYPD apprehended Moore and led him away. Moore yelled to the band, "Take the New York Stock Exchange!"[6] In an interview with the Socialist Worker, Morello said he and scores of others ran into the Stock Exchange. "About two hundred of us got through the first set of doors, but our charge was stopped when the Stock Exchange's titanium riot doors came crashing down."[7] Trading was forced closed sometime between 2:53pm and 3:15pm [8]
"We decided to shoot this video in the belly of the beast", said Moore, who was detained by police for an hour and threatened with arrest during the shooting of the video, as Moore had a permit to film on the steps of City Hall but not in the surrounding street.[9]
During the 2016 US Election, the video was noted for its inclusion of a shot of a man holding a "Donald J Trump for President" placard, referencing to[clarify] Trump's 2000 presidential campaign.[10]
Cheers friend!✌️🇨🇦🤘
Let me help you township rebellion from first rage album banger one of the best lirycs
On it
Yo Michelle!! Next one from Rage to check out....
The Ghost of Tom Joad.
It's their version of a Bruce Springsteen song, and it's amazing! Zach spits the poetry in that song like it's an anthem for the people!!
Will do soon
Rage is the honey badger of truth

You joke, but after 9/11 Clear Channel (now iHeartRadio), which runs basically all the large radio stations in America, sent out a memo "suggesting" 165 songs to avoid playing. 49 of them were RAtM. It was their entire catalogue. They were effectively banned even though they had broken up a year earlier.
Should have done the lyric vid bro, that whole track pretty much went over your head bro..
It didn’t... sorry
Know your enemy.
They stop the market for a day with that act.
Also shoutout to Michael Moore on this one! Despite how wacky he might come-out to American viewers, in reality, he his simply "too good for America"... one of the best unsung sons of it.
Rage don't pull no punches. Renegades!!!!
The video was done by Michael Moore, the documentary filmmaker
I know it's scuffed by the graphic distortion here but at 2:48 the picket being held is a Donald Trump for president sign in the year 2000.
A lot of drumming snobs would scoff at what you said.
But I think they sometimes fail to understand that sometimes his driving, aggressive, powerful simplicity not only perfectly fits the band; but is just plain fucking headbang rhythm. The mark of a good drummer is how they make you feel. And Brad’s drumming makes me feel angry. Which, going off the theme of the band, it should. He gives the song so much punch and energy.
And I say this as a drummer of 13 years and a slight drumming snob.
I feel like you need some Jane's Addiction in your life. Jane Says was a huge hit because it's catchy & touching & timeless, but I think something like Ocean Size has lyrics + intensity. Jane's has it ALL. YES, I have a deep undying adoration for Rage. Some of the very best to ever step on stage.
Dude!!!
Love your reactions
Check out Rage against the machine - No Shelter

Yes the government has a committee that decides what needs a parental advisory sticker on it those usually sell 10 times more than the ones without them. The ones without them are edited with the curse words bleeped out and most of the content I'm really listenable.
I love your reaction. May I share a fact. White boy hardcore was invented by blacks. Secondly, in mid-1970's there was another all black band during the detroit heyday of white rockers...iggy pop, MC5, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper and early Bob Seger. It's older, not as groovy as Rage who are a mixed group...Africa, Native American, white man with a bass and other mixes. They real. They know. But, old-school blacks who went against the grain and dealt with bullshit. I got three bands. Tell if you're interested and/or where to send. Because as a lover of history...the brothers always seem to set the scene from blues to punk. No lies
Interesting..
Ok first band is Death. Their is a 2012 documentary. People believe they invented punk...sort of pre-punk. Check this out sometime...the link will follow each description...

Second. The Bad Brains. I literally got a bad Brains tattoo...they are beloved, respected by many. I gotta send their reggae stuff too because they were ferocious yet could break into a killer reggae tune. So, two sides to them and two links.
