It's not an extended version, actually the opposite. The complete studio version (parts 1-5 and 6-9) is over 25 minutes 🙂
So true
Thanks Lee. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's a tribute to Syd Barrett, who left the band in 1968. David and Syd where good friends going way back.
Syd had some mental and chemical issues that started to ruin his life 😔😔
In total, all 9 parts of the song take up about 25 minutes on the album
They are showing parts of the videos on the circular screen, that went with the songs. Precursor to music videos
David Gilmour plays a pretty good saxophone himself. He has played it some of his concerts
"There's no words yet..." Mate, the guitar has been singing to you for five minutes now :)
S(hine on)
Y(ou crazy)
D (iamond);
Syd Barrett
I was 7 months pregnant with my first son in ‘87 when I saw Pink Floyd for the first time, we watched my stomach as much as the stage because our baby was almost constantly moving to the music. After he was born Pink Floyd was the music that soothed him and 36 years later it still does. I also got to see them in ‘88, both shows were in Dallas, Texas. Still the most amazing concerts I’ve ever seen!!!
Thanks for sharing your story Tracey! To be fair these concerts look fantastic!!
@@infin8reactions absolutely incredible!!! No one can mesmerize an entire audience, where you could hear a pin drop like them.
Love this!! ❤
The song was conceived and written as a tribute and remembrance to Pink Floyd founder member Syd Barrett. Barrett was eased out of the band in 1968 because his drug use and deteriorating mental health were affecting his ability to integrate with the other band members and create and perform as a musician
Great reaction thanks Lee.This was some of the best music of my childhood and a pivotal point in my life that led me to a lifetime of music.💜
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is about co-founding Pink Floyd member in 1964, Syd Barrett. Barretts' story is a tragic one, his massive abuse of LSD and other mind-altering drugs led to a mental breakdown that left him unable to function as a human.
Only four years later in 1968, because of his inability to perform or even hold a coherent conversation, he was forced to leave the band. His good friend and friend of the band, David Gilmour, took over Barretts duties as guitarist and lead singer of Floyd.
The acronym of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond",... SoYcD,... spells SYD, if you take the 1st, 3rd, and 5th letters of the title. Pink Floyd made many, many references to Barrett over the years, their "Wish You Were Here" album in 1975 is all about Syd Barrett, as well as the song too.
This is not as long as the studio version, which is stunning, and actually contains part of the last movements. On the album, the two parts are at either end of the tracks. The songs segue into each other, giving the feeling of being timeless. Edit: there's never an intro from Pink Floyd. It starts from the beginning, it's ALL music.
This song is a tribute to syd Barrett! A band member that ended up in a mental institution!
No, this is the shortened, slightly faster tempo version of the studio album song. The Pulse version is good - (for me) the studio version is incredible.
Just brilliant!!!!
When Pink Floyd were doing the final touches to this song for the album, Wish You Were Here, a bald fat man with no eyebrows turned up at the studio. No one knew who it was. Turns out it was Syd Barrett. Unrecognisable. Syd Barrett and Roger Waters were the driving forces of early Pink Floyd. They brought David in to help out as Syd became more erratic.
I think they only ever recorded one song with the 5 of them
The entire song (all 9 parts, and "Wish You Were Here") is a tribute to founding member Syd Barrett. Others have chronicled this below - Syd was only part of the band for an album and a half before he lost control and was dismissed, initially aided by, and then ultimately replaced by David Gilmour. Frankly, PF would have never become the incredible group they did if Syd had still been at the forefront. A sad state of affairs, but inevitable with his ever increasing mental issues.
great reaction, theres lots of great pink floyd songs for you to react to, id recommend the live
versions of "TIME" or "ON THE TURNING AWAY", im sure that you will enjoy both of these aswell
asmany others
The Pulse, Comfortably Numb is even better mate 👌
It is!! That reaction is in the pink Floyd playlist 😁
Aaw, Syd. Gone but not forgotten. The Cambridge Cut people!
This consert (Pulse) must have been really something, imagine sitting there 🤩.
Great musicians, amazing light show!
Shine on you... - classic, but my favourite is One Of these days... 🎧
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻On my list 👍🏻👍🏻
It was the best concert I ever went to. 🔥🎶🔥
@@lynnhoffmann247 Same here. It was unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pure pleasure ❤

Loved your reaction bro! Try Sorrow from the same Pulse concert 1994. Gilmour will blow your mind.
It's already on the channel. I requested it about 12 months ago 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If you’ve not done Sorrow from the pulse concert it’s worth a listen
Watch a documentary about early Pink Floyd and you’ll understand the song.
Ascolta la versione di studio . SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND PART 1/5 e poi insieme 6/9...Non preoccuparti della lunghezza perché con ciò che è bello e far star bene il tempo non conta
It’s about Sid Barret
Let’s go Baz!!! ✌️😊🔥
Thanks Jes 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
From the same Pulse collection, please check out SORROW, and also RUN LIKE HELL.
Sorrow is already on his channel. I requested it 🤣 Run Like Hell is on my list to give to him, if someone else doesn't get in first 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@bazkeen Thanks. I will check his playlist again. I missed it on the first check.
@@keyrat1753 Enjoy 🤘🏻🤘🏻

@@keyrat1753 It's on his IMR Media & Gaming channel from 2 years ago. Tried sending you the link but it keeps disappearing. 🙄🙄
Damn Lee, lot of hate in the comments. I think you are doing a fantastic job. PF, is a great band now that im older and appreciate finer music. But when i was younger didn't carr much for them. If you get a song on 1st listen its not a good song ...
If you understand music they are in anguish and sorrow and remorse over having to let Syd go due to mental issues as well as too much LSD
❤I LOVE YOU❤ FOR GIVEING ME ROBUX❤😂🎉
When you're done cutting every 2 minutes maybe we can listen to the whole song?
Every 2 minutes? Are you having a laugh? You wanna watch the full video? Guess what?.... It's on pink floyds page, stop wasting my time with your negative bs.

Spoiled it a bit with to much chit chat
You are in a minority there mate, I have to talk about it for copyright
Always a bad idea to going with the live firet than the album. You miss out on so muxh that isnt in the live version
Music is music. It doesn’t matter whether it uses vocals or not.
Why obsess over vocals, as though the music “hasn’t started” until somebody sings?
It’s a whole trip. Not just the vocal parts, for godsake.
At what point did I obsess over vocals?
Did I say it in every sentence?
Did I not compliment David's guitar playing?
This problem that you seem to have seen.... Seems like a YOU Problem.
Dude you pause way too much! Don't give us that copyright BS! DH!
I had to cut this one loose. Can't believe people are actually complimenting you on this reaction. And yes, it *does* sound like you're complaining when you're interrupting every 2 minutes to give a countdown of how long the instrumental part has been going. Pink Floyd is not all about lyrics. They are brilliant composers and musicians... something you don't seem to have the patience for.
And no this is not an extended version, in fact it's somewhat shortened. Apparently not short enough for you. smh
You might want to move on.
Another knob head 🙄
Man , the saxophonist just swapted .... some other vidéos, you can clearely see him switch. Its so beautiful and magicfull at the same time .....
