The idea that kanye slanders this guys image somehow seems a stretch to me. Kanye got me to this video, I realize this guy wrote it and it might actually be the best thing ever composed, but kanye still helped to spread the true message behind this guys voice
the thought is romantic when paired with the idea that kanye is in league with the cabal. dangling yet another fish hook over our heads, he knows that a thought-seed planted in long dead minds will not germinate.
This is the Gil Scott-Heron I remember. He would have been 75 years old yesterday April 1st had he not entered the world of drugs and drink. I still wonder how someone so smart could end that way. Anyway, this is the Gil Scott-Heron I remember and will never forget.
People are saying that it's sad that we didn't know of him before, but because of Kanye now we all have been introduced into the other side of music. People of our age aren't just going to be compelled one day out of the blue to find this. We have to be introduced.

@@DangleBlampy Well, I don't think Heron was saying that per se. He later describes America as an "unflushable" toilet bowl. The imagery of the toilet bowl calls to mind, well, black and white. He is surrounded by whites -- just like the white of the toilet bowl -- who just won't go and find their own damn revolution. Pretty powerful extended metaphor in my opinion.

That’s powerful no matter where you’re from. Like someone else said we’re lucky Kanye is so talented or this wouldn’t get half the exposure it deserves. Thought it’d have more views though.
I'm just guessing...if someone say does hear about an artist like this from a modern music (not saying current main stream music is all good or bad) then they are automatically disqualified from enjoying its content because they didn't go through the proper research for it?? @RaynMan718 ye sadly people can respect it now its used by a popular artist or otherwise it would never be on tv/radio. But i still belive in nothing can touch the original so a sons with samples or a remix can never touch a original cause the remix would never be there without it.

i think the main contention ppl have is how kanye edited parts of the poem sequence that changed the tone of gil's message.
Kanye cut the poem to make it seem anti revolutionary, which is part of the reason he became crazy. he deserves the shit he gets
