I bought a POC Tectal Race Spin Helmet after seeing this video because it was the only Virginia Tech 5-star rated helmet that was available in my size at the time. I do not own the same glasses that Mr. Nedoshepa highlights. However, I have tried every glasses that I own, including Oakley, other brands of sunglasses with straight temples, yellow safety glasses with thick rubber at the ears (my winter, gray-world go-to glasses after some high-priced boutique brand failed), and even my reading glasses with extra-long temples. None have any interference problems with the helmet. My recommendation is to buy a helmet from a retailer that offers easy returns. Before you tear off the tags, wear the helmet, with your glasses on, around the house for an hour or so. Then decide for yourself whether or not to keep the helmet.

I own a Tectal Race Spin NFC, the largest size.
my experience Rudy Project sunglasses
- Rudy Project Cutline
-- does not fit, on a descend you will feel the frame pushed down by the helmet temple
- Rudy Project Defender
-+ fits to some extend
---- but for the both Rudy sunglasses you have to set the temple edge down on the back of your years, otherwise, interfere with the helmet retention system or even with the helmet itself
---- this makes the on/off sunglasses very hard to do with the helmet on.
---> so no go for Rudy (I sold both)
POC sunglasses
- POC Crave (Clarity)
++ perfect fit (were designed especially for Tectal helmet) - have shorter temples and are close to the head
Oakley all day sunglasses
- Oakley Portal, Portal X and blade carbon
++ a perfect fit
++ they all have straight and short temples - no interference with retention system or helmet
++ stay close to the head - no interference on the temple
---> I wear on my bike the Portal X or Portal only when I commute as are polarized lenses, not on trails
Why is valuable this review?
- I was thinking at Oakley Flight Jacket or Radar EV Path - just for the Prizm Trail Torch
- I was pretty much sure that no chance to fit
- your review proof this.
- POC Clarity is close in contrast enhancement to Prizm (which is great) and gives more natural colours.

My maui jim haleakala have perfect fit but they get too fogy, there is no ventilation and they sit very close to the face. I might try a pair from your list!

some development here I wanted to share with you.
In short, I think some combinations may have a chance, could be marginal small things that could matter.
I went to a local sports store to try a Flight Jacket with my Poc Tectal, convinced that no chance.
I know Oakley lenses rocks, so I wanted badly to have sports lenses too.
The surprise is that fits.
even if I shake my head hard there is no interference.
(The second surprise the owner made an offer that was too good to refuse so I came home with a pair of Oakley).
If I use the long temple arm their tip touches the retention system on the back of my ear but is fine.
With the short temple arms, is perfect - you can see in the video
as you can see also the sunglasses are close to my head.
the fact that I wear the largest POC Tectal size, and maybe the tick Spin makes enough room between helmet temple.
maybe I'm just lucky.

There's an adjustment in the back of the helmet that allows you to tilt it up or down. It has 3 positions and mine came in the position that results in the lowest placement on the forehead. Can't remember if I read the manual, so this may have been mentioned in there, but I've been using the helmet for a while now and only just discovered this lol. It fits so much better and no longer interferes with my glasses.
I did mentioned in the video about the 3-position adjustment at the back, it doesn't do much in terms of clearing the space for sunglasses.
Changed everything for me.

I have the same problem! I've been using the POC DO glasses and love the brand, so I decided to buy the POC tectal spin helmet. The 2 are not compatible together. Using the same brand I would expect them to fit so well. The glasses keep hitting the side of the helmet just as shown in the video. I think the design team at POC need to look into this design floor. Now I need to look for another pair of glasses!

It must be down to different head sizes as I wear Oakley radars with my poc tectal race spin helmet they are a good fit .
It can be, bottom line - one would have to try it out with sunglasses on.
i just wanna say the only reason POC put an adjustable visor option is because if you want to put a GoPro there you can lift it up, and also if you have googles on but you want to put them somewhere else apart from your face (maybe because they are fogging up or your face is over heating) you can shift the visor up then put them up on the helmet.

Bonus: it also allows for the easy use of lightweight headlamps like the BioLite for night rides.
I have a same problem , my glasses was pressuse to my nose.
The new 2021 poc tektal has fixed the glasses problem

I know this is old but do you see any reason why this helmet wouldnt work for ski/snowboarding season? Not worried about air flow or being cold
Theoretically - maybe, but in reality you'd freeze out the ears, it won't properly fit if you cover your head/ears with something.
I nearly purchased this helmet, but I use M frames.
Did you get too small of a helmet and that is why the glasses do not fit?
Nah, I got M-L size helmet, fits me perfectly.
Your full of it my Oakley fit fine you just must have big ears

This helmet was made for mountain bikers and we don't use those type of glasses.
Even though, this is a good video to warn the older guys. Thumbs up!

All the mountain bikers I know, young or old, wear protective/sun glasses while riding, so I’m not sure what you’re saying, Paulo.
@@themarkfiles7588 I am saying that all my glasses fit in my helmet (same identical model as yours). We (Downhill/Enduro riders) do not use those type of glasses that you have, we use another kind. 😉
