    I love seeing some of our best french dishes ! And be careful Pommes means Apples and Potatoes translates as Pommes de Terre. And the name of the dish is just Aligot. For those who want to taste a real Aligot it is made with fresh Tome a french cheese which is found in the mountains, totally different than gruyere and served with sausages.
    Thanks for doing your version. Xo from Paris

    Just an FYI, it's ruh-set, like Russian. They're a variety that's more common in the US, so we've corrupted the name a bit to suit our mouths. And speaking of blue-skinned potatoes, I wonder how this would taste and look with new blue-fleshed potatoes as the base. Certainly interesting.

    I am not really ok with your title : you can not call this recipe " pommes aligot" because pommes means apples : you can call it just The Aligot or Aligot Mash. The chesses you added are not traditionaly used for the Aligot but I can understand that it is not easy to find "tomme fraîche" where you are. Thank you for this video it seems to be so good !!!! Happy sunday to you. Love from France

      Bismillah Beginnings: Why does someone have to make it for you? Making mashed potatoes is not rocket science. Come on, give it a try. Try it first without the cheese, so you won't burn a lot of money even if it goes wrong. But it will not go wrong, trust me. And the next time, add the cheese. And don't forget to add nutmeg, it will give it an even better taste.

    I really haven't been happy with your website to be honest Donal. I went to use your recipe for Thai green curry the other day and I just clinked the link without watching the video as I find it easier to follow. I followed the recipe exactly but it didn't turn out at all what it looked like in the picture and didn't taste right. Went to watch your video and you do it entirely differently to the way the recipe says to do it. Granted maybe I should've watched the video first but I didn't think I'd have to! Then I've followed the link here and on your website it says boil the potatoes with garlic? Nowhere do you say garlic in this video! I'm not having a go as I love your recipes and have made some smashing stuff with them but you need to show consistency between here and your website!

    Why would you put on more salt at the end? If you seasoned the mash well, this will just make it too salty, especially with the salty ham.

    • @Bubby91
      @Bubby91 6 років тому +9

      i doubt its too salty, he didnt add any salt into the dish other than some salt found in the cheese. This guy isnt an amateur cook, he only sprinkled some on as a finish.

    • @rmk7943
      @rmk7943 6 років тому

      I substitute milk for cream in normal mash and it's always lush but dunno if it would be okay for this seen as though he's after a particular consistency. The cream may go towards that. If you try with milk though I would definitely use full fat x
