    Something else I want to mention, Brian Spotts and Steve Cook flying our Nations colors for their awesome burn outs. Love it, absolutely LOVE IT!! As well I noticed Cook's crew after removing our Flag before making his wild pass, kept our Flag vertical and flying high as it should always be displayed. With respect, honoring our Nations military and in rememberance of what it has taken and will continue to take to keep our Nation FREE. GOD Bless, thank you to those racers flying 'old Glory at these events as she should be flown.

    Like many of you I've been watching gasser videos on UA-cam for quite a few years, started watching Drag Strip Riot maybe 4 years ago and they're still the best as far as I'm concerned. Really appreciate Dawn editing the racers names too, really helps alot to know who the racers are. WOW!! Steve Cook and the '56 Chev "Blue-by-You" still tearing it up in a wild pass between him and Bob Cook's early '60's Vette,, classic gasser rite there folks!! Congrats to Al Borowski's Scotts Rods sedan still making awesome WINNING runs too! Thanks DSR and UA-cam for sharing these videos with us!

      So doubtful that TRP will turn it around under current ownership. So sad for those who work there and pour their hearts into the place.

    I've been waiting too long to ask this question because I didn't want to sound stupid, but today I don't care if I sound stupid or not 'cause I just gots to know! I did some F/Stock week-end drag racing a long, long time ago and I was never a "pro". As a spectator, I am mostly impressed by the looks of Gassers and when I see a match race I choose the best-looking car to win. My question is for the professionals. Are they as concerned with the "looks" of the car as I am? I mean, would they chose a four-door Edsel over a slick Corvette if the weight ratio would be better with the Edsel or do they "go for looks" and choose the better-looking car to build their Gassers?

    Why don't they have them run the full quarter. The cars are awesome, but 1/8 mile racing sucks.

    • @DragStripRiot
      @DragStripRiot  6 років тому

      This class has been structured to run 1/8 mile since its resurrection well over two decades ago. They run much quicker than their predecessors of the 60s, and most of them become quite unstable after 1,000'. A few teams will match race the full 1/4 at various events like the Meltdown Drags.

    • @rogerbeutler5671
      @rogerbeutler5671 6 років тому

      Back in the day when everything was the full quarter mile, yes the gassers may have been a little unstable, but fans loved watching the drivers try & keep them straight. That was a real art. Southeast Gassers run the full quarter mile using rules from 1967. Most of the runs the cars do not go straight. But I have yet to see any bad wrecks by running the full quarter. It is a real thrill to see more driver skill involved and they are all shifting 4 speeds.

      Southeast Gassers also run 1/8 mile events, but none of them run supercharged cars. There have been several who have run 1/4 mile at events like the Meltdown Drags. Entertaining group as well.

      Evidently they don't televise the 1/8 mile events on You Tube. Every race I've seen them post on You Tube is the full quarter. Again, many events have gone 1/8 mile & you cite with the AA/G class it's because they are supercharged. They were before they went to 1/8 mile racing for many years. Anyway, thank you for posting your response.

    1/8 th mile sucks and shouldn't be shown

    • @DragStripRiot
      @DragStripRiot  6 років тому +2

      From a purists perspective, I get it. But 1/8 mile racing is the norm for many classes; this group and many nostalgia drag racing groups are no exception. The cars and teams certainly don't suck. Who'da thunk that 1/4 mile racing would be on the verge of extinction?

      Agreed Dawn, but that's why I don't attend any longer unless it's 1320

      Drag Strip Riot Exactly. Lot's of 1/4 mile tracks are closing down, yet heads up nostalgia drag racing in the 1/8 is blowing up all across the country, and packing the stands again. Guys are actually building cars to go racing again specifically for this type of heads up racing. I love what you guys are doing and wish we had something similar in our area.. sadly we don't. Not yet anyway!

    • @DragStripRiot
      @DragStripRiot  6 років тому +1

      Yep, and the existing 1/4 mile tracks that are still operating are slowly but surely following suit with 1/8 mile events to cater to these guys that do. We're seeing it happen in many states. I don't know what to say other than I often feel short-changed watching 1/8 mile racing.

      Drag Strip Riot yep, if you think about it. That's the thing.... If you think about it. The new thing going on is 8th mile because it's more fun and let's say safer on the streets. And I could go on and on and on . I'm a quarter mile my self but don't see any problem with it. Runnz Runn
