I moved to another country when I was 11, but it was just with my mother, after divorce, and leaving my father and sister behind. It was lonely and awful and stunted my emotional growth. So I can really appreciate the care and respect that you're giving your daughters by acknowledging that it will have some effect on them, but also they are SO blessed to be in such a beautiful little family with 2 loving parents. That will make all the difference to them. God bless you.

Our situation is different because my family is there and l grew up there but it's still a big move after living in the US for so many years. That's awesome that you guys made that big move. What a beautiful area of Italy to raise your daughters!

My parents emigrated to Australia with myself and my brother from the UK when I was 7. I was heartbroken to be leaving my grandparents and my friends. We knew nobody here. My expectations of what we were moving to was far worse than reality. That was 42 years ago. I often questioned why they moved here but they always said it was for a better life for my brother and I. I didn’t always understand it but now I’m thankful and can understand how and why it was best. I’m sure the girls will appreciate the opportunities you have given them. Congrats on your new chapter. May it be everything and more than you imagined.
I guarantee you the girls will look back years from now and appreciate the move. I grew up in SE Asia, and moved to the States and then to the UK. I really appreciate the opportunity to live in different places. We are contemplating to move the whole family to the Netherlands next year. Congrats on the move! Kids are so resilient and they will have a better transition than us adults.
Thank you so much for sharing that!! We do feel this will be the best thing for the girls but it is filled with so much unknown. Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Well said and I totally agree. The moment I have traveled the world and lived in non western countries, I realized the mainstream media in the US are nothing but a brainwashing machine. Everything they tell us about Iran, Latin America, China, Russia etc are all LIES
@ kimmm We moved from South Africa with two young daughters to the Netherlands, 7 years ago. Let me know if you would like any futher information with regards to the Netherlands.
@@RaisingVoyagers so migrating to another country, is now modern to say leaving the USA 😂😂 I did know that. You are migrating not leaving to another country
What the public needs to know what is the different procedures you had to go through in order as an American to live in another country. The criteria as a foreigner/ American to get residency in the country they move to. Each country has immigration laws just like the US. I do know US citizens can stay in most European countries up to 3 months then need to apply for extension. People make it look so easy on videos thinking they can hop on a plane and live wherever.
I've lived abroad many times. All you need to make sure you have is a Visa. If push comes to shove, you just leave the country and re enter for another 6 Mos. or whatever the specific country offers. It's not complicated at all. Some countries require a bit more, a work visa, if you are going to work and that requires a bit more documentation and effort.
Very true. I immigrated to the Netherlands and every situation is different and different rules apply. If you are married to a Dutch person then 1 rule applies, if you come for work then other rules apply. Many other EU countries have very different requirements and rules.
2 people who do not know what they are doing????? You guys are pro! and brave, and adventurous, and very nice! I envy you in a good way! Wishing you the best!
I spent my childhood and young teenage years in different countries. Now I speak (or at least read) five languages and I am really grateful for all my experiences. Sure, it’s hard to leave friends behind, for me it was extremely difficult to make new friendships. But all in all it was okay. My two best friends moved from Germany to Italy, and I have a third dear friend near Bolzano in Northern Italy. I even considered to maybe move near to them after my kids left home. But my home is in in Ireland. I do really love your new adventures in one of the most beautiful parts of the world! Thank you for sharing!

As italian I wish your family all the best . Italy, despite all the problems this country has, is a great place for kids. My family and I left italy a while ago; our kids grew up between Japan, Philippines and italy and they loved living in italy. Unfortunately due to the country situation we had to leave. Hope all the best for you and the girls
@@MsWarriordiva italy is a great country but unfortunately nothing has been changed in a long time. If you compare italy to the rest of Europe we have very high income taxes (that’s just talking about income taxes, we have a lot of other taxes that are pretty high) and our salaries are the same of 30 years ago plus they are 40% lower of the European average. In this you have to consider that unless you live in a small town the cost of living is pretty high; with what you get paid it’s really hard to get to the end of the month. (And things were like this way before the crisis brought by covid and the war in Ukraine with the related energy and inflation issues). I’d love to be able to go back to italy and see my kids growing up there but right now it’s not possible. Abroad doing the same job we were doing in italy we get paid 4 times and the burden of taxes is much less. Unfortunately since our priority right now is to try to give our kids the best future possible we will have to stay abroad hoping that one day the politicians will stop doing their own interests and will start caring about the future of this country and its people. We used to be a great place to live, work and go on vacation to…right now italy is just a good holiday destination.
I just discovered you guys and I can’t even express how happy I am to have done so. What an amazing adventure! Ciao from Vermont 🍁

@@jenniferlindorff9710 that's what I thought. If I remember well you h'd lived in Ohio, so you should manage quite easily. The school system in the North is great as well as medical care and is "let's say"for free... The nature is beautiful. Hope you stay positive and be well....
I lived in southern Italy for three years as an adult. It was a great experience, and I will always have wonderful memories of my time there. I learned to ski in the Alps of northern Italy, and made many trips from the coast of Naples. The Alps are beautiful beyond description. I recently found your videos, and have been binge watching them. Your new home is lovely. I'm looking forward to the finished results. Thank you for documenting your journey, and sharing it with us.
As a follower from Turkey, I'm happy and excited for the new era of this beautiful family! Your new town and place looks amazing and I believe your future videos, which I expect to be mostly about re-building the stone house, will be very entertaining! I'm really wondering about the process and how it's gonna look after the renovations. I also hope, being relatively close, you'll have more chances to visit Turkey again. It would be lovely to welcome you again. Cheers!
Oh yes!! One of the reasons we picked Italy is because of how close we would be to Turkey! We are very excited to build our home and travel a bit along the way!
Welcome to europe. Willkommen in Europa, greetings from germany. It would also be very interesting if you could do some vids on your time in ukraine someday.
28 plus yrs. ago, I met a man of a different race and nationality who had immigrated to learn my language and culture. We did not marry, but we had a son who is now an adult. Before my relationship with his dad, I travelled extensively thru Europe, including France. My son ended up going to university and then worked in France. I was always so grateful when he was there, I knew how safe he was in France, and how well the French treated him while my son was there.
Congrats, my good friends son went to France after he graduated High school and returned in a Metal box with six handles. Murdered by Muslims in Paris.
Wow. I really admire your positive attitude, the adventurousness, the spirit. Looking forward to watching your experiences in Italy. Wish you all the best and thank you for your videos. It's amazing to watch your girls growing up dealing and coping with all the travels and the different routes and tours. Love from Germany - you are amazing ❤
Wishing you good luck, I'm from the UK and have lived in Australia for 5 years and currently on my 12 year in Canada. I want to return home now though to England, to be with my grandchildren.
I just discussed this yesterday with a person who was planning to move there until he discovered those cheap houses end up having heavy property tax (especially for foreigners) and trying to find reputable workers for renovation who work at a reasonable pace and don't overcharge you is very difficult. I'd love to know what you learn about this on your journey.
@@user-or6yn8pm3c don't worry, we don't depend on Russia anymore for gas or oil. Our import from them has lowered to 10% and we have enough reserves to replace it for two years. Not to mention the new deposits in Algeria and Cyprus.

So excited for your new journey and proud of your courage! We moved to Turkey from America and Iran so can understand your feelings of excitement but also anxiety. The first year will definitely be filled with challenges, adventures, maybe even some disappointments, but the rewards and joy and experiences make it all more than worth it! hang in there… it only gets better and better! You got this!! Don’t ever doubt that you made the right decision … you definitely did!!
Everyones expectations and desires are different from eachother, and the place you decide to move to may not be as you expect after an amount of time. I’m a Turkish girl who is born and raised in the Netherlands, and was deeply in love with my home country Turkey. But when I married and moved to my home country, after years of living there I understood the life standards here and education of my child would be so different in comparison to the way I experienced mine. Now after 6 years of living here we decided to move back to the Netherlands, and go back to my little city/village there. My daughter doesn’t know any Dutch and my husband either, so it will be challenging for us all together. But in an interesting way, I don’t regret coming to Turkey at all. I think that these decisions we make learns us a lot, in good ways and bad ways, experiencing live in every way possible is just beautiful..
@@cccppd yes so true! And Turkey is more of a temporary stay for us for a few years. We’re from Iran and America … so immigration issues are complicated and lengthy and expensive. Turkey usually ends up being an interim location for somewhere else. We both work online and study, and it’s a good place to be for a few temporary years for ppl who work online and want to study for a low tuition cost. It’s also central to a lot of travel locations that Americans don’t normally have the time to travel to plus can’t due to insanely expensive airplane tickets. So yeah, for our overall life situation, it was the right decision … at least for now. And as you said, every place we live in our lives can serve a positive purpose … adding so much experience and color and perspective to our lives and broadens our horizons so much.
@@smallderick9099 Hello Derick! Iran is an incredibly beautiful nation with lovely and kind people … unfortunately the people have been suffering under oppression for 43 years. :( Hopefully the situation improves soon. Thanks for asking! :)

Awesome enjoy the adventure. I and my brothers also had the same adventures growing up as army brats. We also lived in Italy in the early 80's. Vicenza Italy was where we lived in an apartment loved it. Have a blast all of you
I am new to this channel, so everyone might have to bear with me if my questions seem superfluous. First, what about immigration? You just can't move to a country on a whim. What is required to move to Italy? Second, how can you afford such a move? Are you independently wealthy? Will the two of you have to work at jobs away from the renovation? Third, I assume you've checked out the schools? Will the children be attending an English school? So many questions. I assume you will be answering these questions in future videos. Good luck!
I too have travelled all over with my husband. We were married in Rhodesia (Africa) and moved to South Africa lived there 17 years, moved to the Netherlands with our five children (the ages of the children were then 15yrs, 13yrs, 8yrs, 6yrs, 3yrs) and they settled in well, the two oldest found it hard at first but soon settled. we learnt the language and lived there 22 years. The children all schooled in the Netherlands and went to university. We now live in the UK. It has been a very big adventure all round and who knows where we will land up next. I wish you and your family the very best in this new adventure and look forward to seeing the progress.

However, five years ago I chose Thailand, but this week she chose Italy. She and I can visit each other and it will be a vacation.I will follow you and your new adventure. I can relate to this, the fear and excitement. Also, the commitment of buying land. My home is finished and complete now but it wasn’t always like that. We have solar here off grid that runs my air conditioning and pool. I’m assuming your going to start on water and electricity first? Best of luck and you made a fantastic decision for your family.

Although I'm late to this channel, I think your comment is one of the best. US Americans love to talk negatively about other Countries but don't like when the favor is returned. There are NO #1 Countries in the world. NONE! The US is very attractive due to its economic opportunities. Spain is very attractive due to its Family oriented society. Spain (just like the US) has pros and cons. If you know that Healthcare is a priority vs other sectors, then searching for a Country that offers what your needs are is best. The US doesn't fit everyone's needs. That's what diehard Fans/Citizens of the US do NOT want to accept. It's NOT bashing. It's just finding calmer pastures.
I am sure this will all work out for your family. I was raised in the US military and I enlisted as soon as I was old enough and I married into the military as well. I am 64 now and I have moved 55 times. Ever since I was little it was always an adventure for me. It still is. My husband passed away in 2000 and 6 years later I met and married a British veteran, pulled up stakes and moved to the United Kingdom. I miss my kids and grandkids but I wouldn't change a thing. I am glad that you understand the emotional turmoil the kids may go through and are prepared to deal with it but you may find the kids adjust with no issues. Good luck to you all !!!
I, too, was a military kid. My dad’s last tour was Frankfurt, Germany. He retired in 76. So for the most part I have lived in NC in a couple of neighboring counties since. (Except for a short 6 month stint in Baton Rouge). I have lived in my current home for almost 22 years. Sometimes I get traveling feet and would love to move. Even tho I’m 63 my husband and I are raising two adopted children who are 11 and 9. I homeschool so when I think about moving I have to look at requirements from state to state. I always envy those who are brave enough to pull up and move to another country! My siblings and I all agree the best time of our lives was when we lived in Germany. I was 16 (almost 17) when we came back but I kinda wish I had stayed overseas. The people were just different. It’s hard to explain. Would love to go back to Europe!

Hello Claudette
I love this
My parents emigrated to Australia with myself and my brother from the UK when I was 7.
@ kimmm
We moved from South Africa with two young daughters to the Netherlands, 7 years ago. Let me know if you would like any futher information with regards to the Netherlands.
@@RaisingVoyagers so migrating to another country, is now modern to say leaving the USA 😂😂 I did know that. You are migrating not leaving to another country
@@tanjagak2097 actually it's called immigration. Not migration.
Yes it’s a huge process. I am a Canadian who has lived in Spain and a France and it’s not a simple process.
Exactly. As a self employed person I’m not sure I just just say- let’s go! They wouldn’t let me in that long.
Good americans doing it the legal way...cuz like millions who come here illegally.

I just found your channel today and i find it very interesting. My parents moved us to Medellin, Colombia. We lived there from me being eleven till nineteen. I started at a Columbian-American school without speaking a word of either Spanish or English, nowadays I speak five languages and have been bouncing back and forth between different Latin American countries and Europe. Most of all I missed my grandparents, who had given me much love and support, two of whom had died by the time we moved back to Germany. Much luck for you all
I knew right off from airport you all were leaving Dayton Ohio Im from there that airport too familiar when I land to see my parents happy safe travels
When u we’re telling the story of leaving the us as a child made me so emotional because I immigrated to the us from Uzbekistan at 8 and I had to be sedated to board the plane because I didn’t wanna leave my home, but everything worked out in the end! I cannot wait to follow u along on this journey

What an incredible video! Not only was it beautifully shot and edited, but your story is just so inspiring. Totally tearing up with Brady's message to the girls and laughed out loud with that Liquid IV ad - the best in-video ad I've ever seen. Can't wait to see more and learn about how you're doing this. Thrilled for your family and this next big adventure!

What situation would make you have to leave?

There seems to be building codes in many countries. I probably wouldn't have the patience to deal with the bureaucratic paperwork.
That and you wont have heat in winter. Freeze for Ukraine.

Oh thank you so much for reaching out and saying that! It is so encouraging for us!

Soooo happy for you guys!!!!❤🎉 love Cloe!!!
I too am a Army brat. I have moved more than 30 times in my life. Most cherished !ife.
