This is really great fundamental stuff, that you don’t find very often anywhere. Thank you very much for this incredible lesson and the deep insight you give on Jazz piano playing! One like is not enough!
Hey Peter, this is absolute gold, thank you. Personally I would love to see you make a series of these where you could pay for individual standards of your choice. Starting with The Nearness of You, exactly the way you played it on your shelter in place No 16. To this day it’s still probably the most beautiful piece of piano playing I’ve ever heard. In fact it’s my life’s goal to learn to play it that way. In the meantime, keep the gold coming Sir. Your biggest fan:-)👍
The most impactful teaching method - pls do more across standards! I think Andy Laverne used to do this.
Quite marvellous. A treat to hear how a master approaches this stuff and makes everything beautiful!
❤❤❤ really beautiful. Diminished Maj 7 is what I’d call that one. Thank you for this Peter.
This is so great! Thanks for sharing all the knowledge.
I love Solitude! Thank you

Is this the typical way you teach on your membership? If so, is it all written out?
I was falling sleep until I heard Johannesburg South Africa 🇿🇦 😭😭✨
The diminished triad with the major 7 on top is what Adam calls the “unicorn chord”, no? Like B D F A# (as in a G7#9 preceding a G7b9) with that A# being the “unicorn horn”.

Don’t forget we can’t all reach 10ths. What in the suggested substitute? Fifths? 7ths?
I'm usually told to roll the 10th. I wish I could reach a 10th too, because it sounds good. Lower on the register you can use a 5th as an alternative also, but not a 7th (too muddy)
Try to find you own substitute! Use your ear, you can do it :D
