Whoever is doing the mixing and tech setup for this podcast is doing great job btw. The sound is super clear and well balanced. Good choices for camera angles too. It's not easy, and even a lot of music focused creators get it wrong.

I got to tell you... I've been playing music my whole life well since I was three and I'm 70 now so a long time. I so wish I was in the room with you guys... I'm in a band now, and except for making music it's a slog. All the promotion and management and non-music-related aspects are just crushing the life out of it. I know you guys have to do all that stuff too. But seeing two guys just enjoying playing music together the way I've done my whole life is a treat. I applaud you

I find composition mind boggling. Herbie said Donald Byrd told him to come up with chords first and melody latter. Jimmy Heath said modern songs aren't melodic and we should come up with melodies first. Wayne whould write complete songs in a sitting. Monk wrote amazing songs and could make standards sound like he wrote them. I was told by a older musician when i was young that musicians that don't compose get forgotten. It's hard trying to come up with something that doesn't sound like something I've heard. This was great to experience.

42:50 this whole section till the end gave me chills, the way they spontaneously decide to dig a little cavern into that ending section just because it feels so good, relentless stank and feeling.

I've been a professional composer and teacher for 30+ years (and my dad was a composer and jazz pianist and worked with a number of the "heavys" in his day), and I always learn something new when I watch the two of you - not to mention the joy of music making. Thanks for this!

It is often thought that musicians have super powers, and it is true that some talent come with it... but... it is all hard work put into music that makes you reach that level. It is amazing and I have to say that the entire channel's mood makes, at least me, feel great. Lovely guys! I wish I had what it takes to reach that level of writing, reading, and interpreting music skills. May the Jazz be with you!

As much as I love the software demo, and I really want some composition software for myself, I really believe you could have written this thing much faster with pencil and manuscript paper - even with correcting mistakes and then copied the completed written manuscript into the software in the same period of time that it took you to write it directly into the software. BUT…I get that this was necessary for visually showing us the composition process with excellent clarity, before our very eyes. Truth be told, I don’t want to tell you what other tunes I hear, I don’t want to search for other tunes. This is unique. Example: If George Harrison knew he was re-writing “He’s So Fine” in the moment he was writing it, we’d never have his very awesome song “My Sweet Lord”. Truth be told, I only hear FROM MOO TO YOU and it’s bringing sizzle to the gorgeous! 🥰🔥😍😎👍🏽

Deciding when to keep it in the pocket and when to open it up a bit more... fantastic blend! Definitely Bob James with the Rhodes sound and melodic phrasing, Kirk Franklin and some gospel influence... It's the first time in a long time that I'm sitting back and calling out chords and you're making many of those changes... It was such a creative space with purpose because you were under the gun with time. Great exercise, guys! You work so well together and appreciate the different influences. My wife was like, "what are you getting so excited about?" "It's the joy in this process!"
IDEA 1): For a composition exercise, what if you took an artist, a key and did something like this in that vein but with requests from the audience? Be really fun. Little more prep, but still! Or
IDEA 2) from a harmonic state, have someone send in the melody and write 3 or 4 harmonic variations on the melody AKA Jacob Collier's harmonic series. From a skill level and understanding, you are both "Geniuses of Joyful Expression." Thanks for sharing that with the rest of the world.

Just wow, internet jazz magic! How much fun was this, watching Adam and Peter set this mad challenge then make it happen, a compositional sprint right up to the wire!
Adam, "We really wasted that first twenty seconds!", as his tech collapses at the end. Of course it did, lol! But still got it done.
What a blast, what a ride! Peter and Adam, thank you so much for this epic demonstration!
